Minutes of September 2008 Meeting
The regular monthly meeting was called to order at 7:07pm on September 9, 2008, by President, Mary Lou Bruggeman. Mary Lou introduced Richard Sink a returning member who had not been able to attend meetings in the past, new members, Jason and Chasidy Bryant who have a 2000 Mag Red C5, guests Vince Lindstrom from the Convention and Visitors Bureau and Rebecca Scott of KOZJ telelvision.
Plaques were presented to Vince Lindstrom and Rebecca Scott for their involvement in Vettes in the Midwest. The club presented Bruce one of the event clocks in appreciation of his leadership of the event.
The members present approved the minutes of the August meeting.
Treasurer Colleen Holt, gave the Treasurer’s report which was approved by the members present. Current membership is 70 members.
Diana made the motion with Jim Seward seconding to give Children’s Haven the 20% of our net profit from Vettes in the Midwest as voted on plus the remaining Children’s Haven funds in the treasury now, instead of holding it.
2009 Calendar Really need to push to get the ads in so that we can get the calendars to print. So far 12 ads have been turned in with another check being turned in tonight. It was voted on by those present to go ahead with the calendar adding ads for the businesses that donated to Vettes in the Midwest and car pictures to fill the empty spaces, and printing as many as we have the advertising funds for.
Bruce reported on “Vettes in the Midwest, Kickin’ it on Route 66” held on August 15-16-17th at John Q. Hammons. Bruce reported the success of the event and some of his ideas for next year. Participants are already contacting him for registration of the next one.
Thursday Dinner Club This Wednesday night the Dinner Club will be eating at Backyard Burgers. Next Wednesday, Sept. 17th we will be eating at Rib Crib.
1st Annual Cruise/Car Show at Mac’s Aug. 29th There were 11 club cars attending,
Summer’s End Corvette Show, Rogers, AR Five club cars attended with Laymans and Rankins entering. Laymans won one of the top three plaques in the C3 class and Rankins won one of the top three in the C6 class.
Christmas Party Committee Diana Layman will be chair and expects lots of help.
Thursday, Sept. 11th Bruce asked anyone who could to contact him to cruise to dinner at Café on the Route so that the club can present them with a plaque for their support of Vettes in the Midwest. Meet at the old Consumers parking lot 7th & Maiden Lane at 6:30. Important to let Bruce know if you are going as the café is small and reservations are required.

Eureka Springs Weekend- Oct.2-3-4-5th Club is one of the sponsors of the autocross on Thur., Oct 2nd. Mark Rountree gives a seminar on autocross on Thur. Evening. Mary Lou has brochures available.
Tri-Lakes Corvette Club of Branson Oct. 2nd will be cruising old Route 66 and end up in Albuquerque Contact Bruce for info.
Maple Leaf @ Carthage October 18th
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST CORVETTE— Jim Seward bought his first corvette, a 1962 for $2800 after seeing it on a curb with a for sale sign in 1965. At the time he was making $400 a month. The seller was getting a divorce and Jim told him he would need a car so talked him into taking his 1958 Impala and $2000 for the corvette. He has had a 1980, 1998 and his current 2004 since then.
