Minutes of October 2008 Meeting
The regular monthly meeting was called to order at 7:05pm on October 14, 2008, by President, Mary Lou Bruggeman. .

The members present approved the minutes of the September meeting.

Treasurer Colleen Holt, gave the Treasurer’s report which was approved by members present. Current membership is 72 members.

Committee Reports:
2009 Calendar Bruce reported that Joplin Printing wants a minimum $3000 for approximately 1025 calendars. Ad sales are currently at $1625. Larry is checking into another printing source but it looks like the situation is not much better. Jim Sinclair made a motion that the club do a “calendar bailout” by subsidizing the balance of the $3000 to print the 1000 calendars, second by Larry Lankford. Motion passed.

Old Business:
Christmas Party Committee Diana Layman reported on the options for the Chirstmas party of Granny Shaffers or Holiday Inn. Diana made a motion that the party be held at the Holiday Inn with a chef prepared 2 entrée buffet @ $20 per person with members to pay for the meals and get their money back at the door with no shows not getting a refund. Seconded by Bill Welsh, motion passed. Cut off date for reservations will be December 1st. Party to be held December 6th gathering at 6 PM eating at 7 PM. Gift exchange as usual with one wrapped $20, preferably Corvette related gift per couple. No gag gifts unless a $20 bill is taped to it.

SMB Cruise Nite 9/12 4 cars attended the large turnout
TBA Cruise 9/13 to Red Oak
Mid America Funfest 4 cars attended
Eureka Springs Weekend about 16 cars attended BBQ at Rankins with participation by the Sioux Falls club and the Mena AR club
Peoria, OK Car Show 8 cars. Gary McKeehen won trophy
Wyandotte, OK Homecoming 8 cars carried candidates and then ate dinner at casino
Welch Homecoming

New Business
National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC) It was advised the benefits of membership and the members were asked to check out the web site

Upcoming Events Calendar –
Maple Leaf @ Carthage 10/18 Meet at Walmart in Carthage 8:30 am

Rebels Twin Bridges Car Show, Sunday 10/19 Last year they had 165 cars. Top 20 awards in several classes. Registration is $10 and is 7 am-1 pm For more info contact Jim Seward

Mena, AR Cruise 10/25 Those interested in cruising to join the Razorback Club out of Ft. Smith and the Mena club for the Fall Foilage trip to Queen Wilhelmina Lodge for lunch , etc. should let Bruggeman’s know. An email will be sent out. Some of us will be going on to Fort Worth for the night and to see Erin Bruggeman perform at the piano bar.

Toy Run/Children’s Haven Cruise 11/1 meet @ Sams 10 AM Cruise to Ronald McDonald house to deliver pop tabs then on to Cotton Eyed Joes at Noel for lunch. Bring items for Children’s Haven (there is a list on their website and ours) for a later delivery

2nd Annual Bean Feed 11-1 @ Laymans 6:30 pm Bonfire and bean feed. Desserts welcome. Bring your own drinks.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST CORVETTE— Mike Anderson bought his first corvette because he wanted it. An ’89 Red one. Since then he has had 2 red, 1 maroon, 1 multi colored, and now has an ’01 black on black convertible.

Next month will be nomination of officers for next year. If you would like to nominate someone please ask them in advance it they will accept. If you are interested in running for an office please let it be known.
