Minutes of the June 2009 Meeting
The regular monthly meeting was called to order on June 9, 2009, at 7:05pm by President, Mary Lou Bruggeman. The members present approved the minutes of the May meeting. Treasurer Carol Lankford gave the Treasurer’s Report which was approved by those members present.
Phil Rankin gave a financial report on the last two Autocross events. Progress is being made to pay back the treasury for the expenses incurred for Autocross equipment. A variety of cars participated in the last event including a Ferrari and a Viper. A full reporting of run times can be found on the 4 State Vettes website. A motion was made by Gary McKeehen to purchase chalk machine to use to outline the course for $120.00. The motion was seconded by Larry Lankford. The motion passed.
Members voted to sponsor an evening Autocross on Friday, June 26th at Northpark Mall. An additional $50.00 will be charged by the mall for leaving the lights on later in the evening. Tech inspection starts at 5:00 pm. Any members available to help set up are asked to arrive at 3:30pm. Flyers are available on the website for printing or e-mailing.
The Children’s Haven Playground Campaign contribution was tabled until after the next Autocross.
The Dueneweg Cruise Nite was well attended. The weather even cooperated.
A representative from Camp Quality, a summer camp for children with cancer, contacted Mary Lou re: having some of our members bring their Corvettes to the camp on Monday July 13, 2009. Any members not in attendance are encouraged to bring their cars also. We will need to be there at 7:00. Larry is checking on the “dirt” road that leads into the camp which is located south of Joplin off of Iris road. More details will be sent out as the time gets closer.
According to NCCC rules dues are due in November of each year. Everyone is asked to consider how the dues will be paid. Some options are: each member paying their own; raising the club dues to cover the difference; or not renewing our memberships. Not renewing would mean losing the insurance for club events. This year the dues were paid by the club treasury. Because our balance is on the low side, this may not be possible this year. Our club by-laws will need to be changed due to changing the time of the year the club dues will need to be collected.
The annual picnic at Marker’s has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 5.The plan is to eat at 3:00. Members whose last name starts with A-L are asked to bring a dessert and M-Z a side dish or salad. This picnic will replace our club 4th of July picnic.
June 26th is National Drive your Corvette to Work Day. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
Larry & Carol Lankford are having an open house on June 13. You can come & go anytime between 12:00p & 3:00p. Bring your own chair.
