Posted October 21st, 2010 01:24 PM IP There have been covers of AWB's music over the years and it would be good to see if anyone else has come across some more.
Two I've come across are below, which I particularly like as they are done by solo performers. It's great that there are people out there who love and perform AWB music like these:

Posted October 24th, 2010 08:39 PM IP a ha..I know Nathan Williams personally and he' as good a drummer as he is bassist...bit of a clever dick multi instrumentalist all round.
Nathan's currently doing a project with a fantastic musician who plays and writes with my g/f's band, the very very gifted multi instrumentalist and singer Mike Mayfield.
Mike's a good as guitar player as it gets (and I'm including the likes of Jim Mullen here) and he's a fan of a lot of AWB stuff..not least 'You Got It' from the White Album. Mike and Jo cut a vocal of 'A Love of Your Own' for fun which I've got buried away somewhere.

Posted October 25th, 2010 08:06 PM IP Enjoyed both links albeit for different reasons!
PUTP tapped on the bass! I've never heard that done before!
NW is a very talented musician.
Sounds as if the moustache man has pluged his mike into the keyboard 'cause when he starts singing the keyboard seems to lose power (vol) !!.
It's very good though and what's more it's made my day (it don't take much)!
Thanks for posting marc.

Posted October 25th, 2010 08:27 PM IP This year whilst on holiday in portugal we visied Albufeira and as we approached the main square I could hear the sound of a live sax getting louder and louder as we got nearer to the center.
The guy was called Johnny Hooper who also had a box of his own CDs with him that he was selling.
Of course I bought a couple of them (after listening to him playing for a good half an hour)
Anyway back on topic here is a link to Johnnys version of AWB PUTP that I've just found.

| Nice post, Jools. Sounds very influenced by David Sanborn and Candy Dulfer.

Posted October 26th, 2010 07:40 PM IP He's a lovely guy too, he proudly told me that Eric Clapton has got that CD (Smile) when I had a brief conversation with him whilst purchasing the CDs.
You may have found this out already but if you search utube there are quite a few clips of him actually playing in that square and also some clips of Johnny playing in his own sax bar which is also in Alberfeira.

Posted November 16th, 2010 01:47 AM IP Im very much liking this thread. That last one....was a good example. It shows just how good the original was....how well crafted and performed by our favorite band. To use one of Mr. Fred Vigdors most famous quotes:......"It is the silence between the notes....that makes the music. It is the space between the bars....that holds the Tiger."

Doubt it marc because if I recall correctly it recieved the good old BBC ban for what was back then (1975) cosidered to be very suggestive lyrics!!
