I am going to pack light and be there early. Wife's flight is in at Hobby at 3:25. I hope to arouse her with the smell of Hoppe's and gunpowder.

Lol

I doubt my Garand will be ready by then (Numrich is slow to ship) and it is going to be a wonder if my AR upper shows from Model 1 sales.

Looks like I will have maybe a wheelgun or a 1911 and the Imbel FAL (Maybe the Rhodesian FAL)

What game ?

Jerry -- I will have 10 target stands and some rotating/swinging tubular targets. I will post a pic this evening of the target idea. Could be a lot of fun. Hope you guys are up to it. Stay tuned...

OK, I'll try again, Saturday AM??????? Anyone?????? .22's ???????

By the way Jeff, is it ok to use spinners on the range?? If so, anyone interested in 'dueling' .22's? (Just got my .22 dueling post, can't wait to break it in)

I'll be there Sunday morning. I may have figured out why my AR-10 is acting up. Heat shields rubbing the barrel, white dust on the chamber area. Man I hope thats it! I bent them out of the way. If this doesn't cure it you can have it Jeff.
NOT !!! HaHa !
Well, maybe after I drive my truck over it a few times. I'm keeping the magazines though.
Looking forward to Sunday !

Ok, guys, whatcha think??? The cardboard tube is 3 1/4" OD x 1/8" wall x 11" long. The prairie rat image is 3" wide x 8" tall. With a 1x2 x 18" long pine cross member at the top of the 1x2 uprights shown below, we can suspend the target. It would be free to swing and spin (like a top. Notice the string it's hanging by.). Could be a lot of fun... soooooo, whatcha think?

Jeff, reverse the image and put it on the back side of the tube as well so when it spins around you still have an image to see and aim at. Neat idea.

Jeff, HOW COOL IS THAT!!!! Great idea, if you found a larger tube, like an old chain barrel, you could but a whole family on it!

How can I convince you, you need to test your "prairie rat spinner" and target stand design this Saturday morning, say around 8:00, before your big shoot on Sunday (when I'm doin' my chruch thing)???

I really think you should make sure all work properly, so you can rest assured come Sunday AM. I know you'll shoot better not having to worry!!

Jeff--that looks pretty cool! I'll load up some varmint rounds and see ya' Sunday. BTW how do you think that will hold up to a 458 Lott ( my prefferred Varmint round ).

0800 at American Shooting Center... but I'm thinking they won't let me put these out there. So it'll have to be Sun 0800.

Gary -- If you're going to the range tomorrow, I left you the target to test. PM sent. Although there is some durable "thread" attached to it, you may want to bring some string and target stand specifically to hang this target. Please let me know how it works out. Have fun.

Tavy -- Good eye... that's hilarious.

Not as many folks at the range yesterday as last week. The range was the muddiest at 200 yd, but it didn't stop us from having some fun. Before I could set-up the rat targets, Jim had unloaded an even better idea. It worked great and kept three of us busy competing against one another for a few hours. I think Jim is on to something. My brain was active all night thinking of ways to use the little clay targets he brought yesterday. For those of you who did not go yesterday, checkout Daisy ShatterBlast or Champion VisiChalk targets. They are really fun when you have multiple shooters trying to hit the same targets. The ShatterBlast and Visichalk targets are 2" and 3" OD, respectively. The ShatterBlast at 200 yards are a real challenge to hit before your neighbor does, especially when you hang them from string and they spin in the wind.

...and lest I forget. Friends don't let friends shoot .458 Lott. Some might be naturals, when it comes to shooting a big caliber such as Jim Cochran's toy, but this dude is not one of 'em. That damn thing is a chiropractor's dream. Damn thing kicks like a mule.

Don't say those terrible thing about my baby. Jeff, you just gotta eat your wheaties.

The 458 Lott is only good for the chiro's when you shoot odd numbers of rounds. First shot knocks it out, second round jars it right back. LOL

The Lott was doing great until the scope puked! Think I finally got the load worked out, 450g barnes X at about 2300FPS. Leupy VX III 1.5-5 at only about 200 rounds I gotta send it back, what a bummer! Something is rattling around inside.

Jeff and Kev tore me up on those 200 yard shatterblasts with thier semi auto "Poodle Shooters" but they just couldn't manage to get the swinging bottle caps at 200.

And Jeff even ran out of ammo, if you can believe it.

Jim -- It's a good thing that .458's not a semi-auto... I might have put a BIG hole in the firing line cover
