Just got back from the range and the report is GOOD. Looks like it was freshly mower and it’s dryer than a powder house but it’s hot. Looks good for you weekend shooters. Pistol Pond has standing water but that is of no consequence as it’s not open anyway!
Saw a rifle today that sure got my attention. A pre 64 Win. That looked like it just came out of the shipping box. Had a 12x Unertal (sic) (long scope) on it that looked just as good! Man I still got the shakes over that one. The scope is probably worth every bit of what the gun is.

Vern -- Sounds like this weekend is gonna be a busy one... what with the potential hurricane and Sunday shootin' session. Hey, did the Win shoot nice?

Guys this gun was something to behold. The present owner has had it for just less than two years and not fired it! As a matter of fact it doesn’t look like it has EVER been fired, that’s how pristine it is! I didn’t look that close but I don’t remember seeing any rub marks on the bolt. It was a medium heavy BBL, 30/06. The steel butt plate was even unmarred. The Unertal (sic) scope is one of those long target scopes that recoil inside the mounts that are spring loaded. It (the scope) didn’t have rub marks on it that were significant from recoil. I’m telling ya that I had to contain myself to keep the drool and slobbers off of it. I thought after handling and looking he was going to say “hundred dollars please” just for the privilege. I told him that if I owned it, that I would put it in a cotton “sock” in the very back of my gun safe and only take it out after dark and cradle it and pet it! One of the nicest and cleanest vintage sticks I have had the privilege of having in my hands in many years! I think my friend got a charge out of seeing me go weak kneed and breaking out in a cold sweat!

I hear ya Dave! I feel pretty much the same about clean mill spec weapons. I want another 03 so bad I don’t know what to do. But seeing some of the prices they are asking now I would have to take out a home mortgage, give up my dog and go into three years of servitude. Man those things have gone through the roof!
I sure would like to have this Win. to pass down to my granddaughter. By the time she is my age she could sell it, buy Washington and set up her own constitutional govt.
