Jimtex and I went to the board meeting today to discuss the proposal of constructing new concrete benches.
The motion was passed unanimously by the board.
I want to thank all of the board members for their approval and Jimtex for his support and ability to successfully present this project.

This was Villareals project all the way, no thanks needed I am glad to do anything I can for the betterment of our club! I am excited and I really want to thank Villareal for getting the ball rolling on this one.
And I want to thank the Board of Directors for hearing us out.
We presented this to the board complete with pictures of the benches and shooting stools from the Tomball range that the G-man provided.
What the Directors approved was to let us build 4 concrete benches and stools as a trial run. And depending on popularity aaaaaannndd how well they are constructed possible approval for even more.
Just FYI the part of the board meeting we were involved with was handled cordially, profesionally and diplomatically. The board members reviewed our proposal for the benches and reviewed the G-mans photos, asked some very relevant questions about construction methods and costs, a motion was called for a vote, seconded and the vote was unanimous for our little experiment.
Now we just gotta figure a weekend we can get some guys together and build 'em.
With hunting season upon us, time is at a premium.

Also kudos on the project presentation.
Now then, tell us, are we still paying for this among ourselves ? I am good with my promise made.
If we are to move ahead on our own, I need some dimensions so as to begin building the forms. Shall we entertain a meeting, say , in Crosby to iron out details ?
I would probably post no worse groups if I shot from a floating kayak, but I am sure stoked about getting this set up. hell, I might even be allowed to shoot my BB gun (AR) from one of them,,,,,,once a year ?

Jerry-- I think a meeting would be great, ya'll pick a time and place. The range would be neat ( everyone can find it ). I might be hunting this weekend ( I should know by the end of today ) and I sure want to play.
Yes, I did volunteer to purchase the materials for the first four, and the Club is to reimburse me if they work out.
But....if we can scrounge matls. for the bench top forms, the club won't have to pay for it. They do need to built to last so that we can use them for more than the original 4) 2x4's, acouple of sheets of 3/4" plywood and remesh and rebar would be a good start. The plywood will need to be at least B/C so that we have a good surface to pour against.
The shooting stools appear to be made out of at least 2x10's and by my guess it looks like it will take about least 8' per stool. And I think we want new material for these.
I'm excited!

Jim -- Don't forget the 1/2 x 45° molding for the forms... the devil is in the details.

It's called chamfer strip.
Now go back to designing grease tanks and STFU.
We'll need some form release, too, Jim, Guillermo. Let's get a meet scheduled at the range one evening soon.
Other thoughts will be where (geographically) the pouring will take place. A small detail called WATER may get on our tits if we have to haul it in bulk to the range.

Those benches will be much nicer than the ones that are currently out there. I have shot of ones like them at Bayou Rifles when I was a member back in the day.
