WTB new or used matching AR15 upper and lower, for a varmint/coyote rifle project.
I just want to build it myself.
Thanks.

Hey man.

(just back in from a long strange trip)

I am going to pick up some mousegun build parts later this summer. A good friend and like minded person sells a lot of AR stuff. She is a dealer, Class III and SOT. My aquisitions will be two-fold in goals. One, like you, to build a "varmint" mouser. Two- to rat hole a lower or two against the time coming when they shut us down. The politicians ARE going to get there. It is only a matter of "when".

Get while the getting is good.

I will likely try to get the Hi-Standard stripped lowers. There is a guy over in LA that sells AR parts on the cheap. One can save about $20 each on lowers through him. I have read good things about his lowers, but I KNOW how builds go on HS- Rock Rivers, etc.

Thank you Jerry, but what is SOT?
Can you or anybody help me to buy a stripped lower and upper locally?
With everyone's help, I can buy the rest of the parts through the internet.

SOT = "Special Occupational Taxpayer"

This is one of the many classes of FFL to put it in short.

Here is a link to "Essential Arms" over in LA.

Page showing upper and lower matched sets.

For local, call Texas Tactical Gear at 281-484-0800, ask for Jen. Tell her "Owlcreekok" sent you and that she should charge any discounts you get to me. Lol. Her website is;

http://www.texastacticalgear.com

Her store is along I 45 North ,,,South of H-Town proper.

Good people, quality stuff.

Villarreal,
The last time I saw you and Jerry at the range, I had a 16" lightweight that I had just built. Think back, I think both of you fondled it.
It was a Stag stripped lower and all other parts were Del-Ton. It went togather flawlessly and I am very pleased with it. I think most lowers are about the same quality although they vary in price by about $10.00 or $15.00. This is probably due to whoevers name is stamped on it. I think there are only a few companys that actually manufacture AR receivers and they supply them to everyone else. Just like most other AR parts. (The first couple of years that S&W produced their M & P rifles, Stag supplied them with the parts). They are all "mix-masters" to one degree or another. The only lower I would not buy is Olympic.
As for a varmint upper, I would look at the new Stag Super Varminter. I have heard that it is pretty slick.I am sure it is pretty expensive too!

Right you are, Dave. Nice AR you built. I have been told the same thing about the AR receivers. Few forges, many "finishers".

I will get my M1 done and a couple of turnbolt projects, then turn to a mouser build. That is, if I can get the Big Bore bug off me, and the AAR10 bug off, and the,,,,,,,,,,,,,

So Jerry when we gonna order our kits????? Does this make it a complete thread hijack? Sorry Villareal.

Not a hijack.

Jim, Villareal, et al,,,,there is a fun show at the Pasadena Convention Center the 12th & 13th. Texas Tactical will have a booth as usual. I spoke to Jen (owner) yesterday to plug for Villareal. I plan to be there and will likely come away with a few mousegun parts. It would be a better than average idea, IMO for some of us to meet up there. If any special AR parts are desired, it would help to shoot TX Tac an email on it. She'll have the goods on the table. You can shop them out, but service and helpful input is free as well as abundant from them. That adds value.

I am thinking of building a flat top with a gas block that employs a removeable front sight. Bull barrel with no evil flash hider. Lol.

Now THAT, sirs, is a hijack.

Lol

I am trying to talk Jerry into buying a big bore rifle "kit" ( barrelled action with necessary components, finishing required ).

www.bigfivehq.com/

Scroll to the bottom of the page, seems like fun to me.

Jerry,
You proceed forward with that M1 Garand build. Don't listen to Jim. One of his shoulders is already noticeably larger than the other from shooting those big bores. He shoots them like .22 LRs.
Try to stay focussed.

I got the new set of CMP wood out and fondled it yesterday. I hadda quit before I got sumpin on it.

If I go to the gunshow Sunday, I will have to schedule it around a range trip. I think Dave A is hitting the range on Sunday, as well as JimTex.

Let's keep batting this around. I'll pick up a lower, at least one at the show. If enough of us show up at Jen's table, I am willing to bet she'll cut us a discount.
