Well I might not be a man of wealth and taste but...

I'm a 50 yo Software developer (who started out when we were called programmers and it meant something), married for over 24 years with 5 kids. Oldest son is 22 and married. Second son is 20 and serving in Army currently stationed at Fort Polk. Third son is 18 and has no clue (at least that is what it seems to me). Fourth son is 14 and champing at the bit to play High School football (and is a pretty good Defensive Lineman IMHO). And last but not least my daughter is 12 and the reason I'm determining the most efficient way to kill all the males aged 12-18 or so in a fifty mile radius.

I just got a brand new DPMS AR10 for father's day and plan to attend the July membership session.

I have my CHL, am an active IDPA shooter/Certified Safety Officer and reload (who's got a good 308 load using 165/168 gr bullets for the ar10?).

I would love to come out 1 Sunday this month just to look over the range if I can.

J,
First thanks for allowing your son to serve and most importantly, thanks to him FOR serving. Wish him well on my behalf.

On the security for daughters: What I’m thinking of for my granddaughter is get her a Great Mastiff dog, a service dog jacket. Now early in the morning wake him, wave a used pair of boys underwear under his nose, rough him up a bit, throw him about twenty pounds of raw meat laced with black powder. If repeated enough it should condition him to think “young men = raw meat”, problem solved!

On a more serious note; Welcome

Thanks for the welcomes.

I see there is a group of regulars (sound like cranky old farts my kinda guys) who frequent the range on Sunday mornings. What time would be good to come out and say howdy/look the place over, is there a procedure to get in or are the gates unlocked, how many dougnuts should I bring (Chocolate/plain glazed or 1/2 of each)

Vern Well once kids get old enough to serve I feel I have no right to allow/deny them their path in life but once my son decided, I was completely supportive and am very proud of his service.

Interestingly enough my daughter wants a puppy of her own and I have told her she could have 1 of several breeds like Irish Wolfhound (my fav), Belgian Shepard, Great Dane, Mastiff, St. Bernard. As I explained to her any breed big enough to eat boys.

I'm with ya'll on that daughter thing, mine is 11 yrs. old.
Welcome Jeremae, we don't gather on Sunday mornings in the numbers we used to. The members that do show up take great delight in thrashing the one's that don't. I very much enjoy my Sunday mornings at the range.
Oh yeah, Armalite makes the AR-10, your's is probably a LR-308.
Looking foreward to meeting you sir.

Most are cranky........some are old farts..........

Have you joined the range yet? If so you should have gotten the combination and badges. If not call one of the directors and they can fix you up.

If you have not joined get one of them to meet you out there and show you around. I would be happy to show you around myself if we can figger out a way to get together Sunday A.M.

Well it is actually a LR-308 AP4 but an ar-10 by any other name....

JimTex

I plan on joining at the July orientation meeting.

The easiest way to get together on Sunday would probably be to set a time for me to show up (and maybe exchange cell numbers via PM).

No answer on how many doughnuts and what type to bring?

Yup

Shipley's I'm offering to bring plain glazed or chocolate or mix of both as a bribe to get an invite to the range to look it over before I pay for membership at the July Safety orientation. Actually I just think the Sunday Morning regulars sound like my kind of people and would like to get off on a good foot. I'm not even looking to do any shooting. I sent a PM to another member last week to try and set something up for this last Sunday but it was late in the week and he didn't get a chance to reply to me. Hopefully by Sunday (July 19th) we can arrange a meet and greet with the attending BASCRRC rogues

However my son PFC Jonathan Thompson, stationed at Fort Polk but home right now on leave would LOVE it if someone with a Guest Pass would invite him out to shoot his DE 50 ae (I won't let him shoot it in back yard like the 9mm and 45acp because of effective range of the round)
