Hey all the names Justin im 28, been a member for right at around 2 years now and only been able to make it out to the range a handful of times. Haven't really met anyone so I figured it was time to introduce myself. I am an IT Admin by trade so if I can help with the website or any club IT needs i'd be glad too.

I am an avid gun nut, im sure like everyone else the only thing keeping me from owning more guns is $$$.

My newest edition is a Springfield NM M1A1. Had it out at the 200 yard range this last Saturday (damn it was hot) testing out some new handloads. Did pretty well for open sights. Hoping to qualify for the long range with it.

Anyways I love shooting and reloading, only been reloading for about a year just for my M1A1. Going to start reloading for my .45 soon though.

I really enjoy military style firearms over anything else, AR's, 1911's, WW2 era, and such.

See ya guys on the range.

-Justin

Welcome to the "board" Justin. I have always wanted an M1A1, just haven't "pulled that trigger" yet.

What kinda groups did ya git?

Well I still had the paper in the truck and just measured it very cruedly here at work with a ruler, not the proper way but after 8 shots my average group radius was 2.07"..... not too shabby, I need to tweak my loads a bit, but thats still a work in progress.

Good group! I am assuming 100 yards........if I'm wrong and it was 200 yards then let me be the first to line up for your shooting class!

That was 200 yards, at 100 yards i'll usually have a couple holes touching on good day.

Thing is thats my average group radius so my furthest from center was 3.25" and my closest was 1.375", take into account the other 6 shots and you get the 2.07". Also those were just the standard 50 - 100 yard targets and pretty tuff to see anything other than a white square at 200 yards. Definitely going to need to find some larger targets for the new long range.

Fantastic shooting but I measure groups a bit different.

Center to center of the shots that are the farthest apart. But I think I got what you are saying.

By your method if I understand it you could have had about a 6" group. Still Damn fine, 3 moa at 200. That would work for the long range qualification.

Yeah I measure diffrently depending on what im doing. I find the center of all 8 shots and then find the average distance from each shot back to that center point. My POA stayed consistent, I had 2 seperate 3 shot groups that were within 1" of each other and 2 flyers.

I was testing out my new loads using the Hornady A-Max instead of my usual SMK. I'll save that for the reloading forum though!
