Users breaking one of the rules of the chat explained above are subject to temporary banning from the chat.

Warnings: The chatstaff may when possible warn the user of the rule breaking if it appears accidental or marginal. They are discouraged, however, from entering into a discussion of the rules with the chatter. If you think they has been an error in the application of the rule we suggest that you temporary stop doing the item in question and email the management at the chats email address for discussion or clarification.

Banning purpose:
Banning is done to stop rule breaking. It is not punishment or to "teach a lesson". Banning is not arbitrary but the length of time of the ban is. The length of time depends on the strength of the rule breaking, whether we consider it marginal, whether it is a repeat offense, whether the user is breaking many rules. No bans are permanent, however after many many rule breakings we need to be confident the user will not simply come back in to immediately continue breaking rules.

If banned for any reason, users are welcome to discuss it with the chatstaff at the chats email address. Do not hassle the chatstaff after the ban expires or is lifted. It's best to simply drop the subject.

Exception: We cannot allow users under 16 years old to use the chat and those that are will simply be removed.
