Karin looked at him curiously before he left her side. Quickly deciding, she followed him, actually having to use her flash step to catch up to him. She looked at the two of them and saw Yamamoto. They would have exchanged greetings but Death's comment threw both of them off. "The soul society?" Both of them exclaimed. When Death and Rex left, Karin said, "Stay here."
"No I'm going with you."
Karin was about to step out but Yamamoto grabbed her hand. Pulling her arm away, she said, "Look I'm going and a soul reaper has to stay." She jumped down and caught up with Death. Keeping up with him, she asked him, "What's going on?"

"We're going to meet our Big brother" Death replied to her quickly with unexpected hatred slipping through as he said 'Brother'. Death ground his teeth to stop any further outburts knowing he would end up punching a tree. He shoved his clenched fists into his pockets and his eyes were darkening to a more shadowy shade of blue. A sign Rex had grown to recognize that Death was pissed. As he always was when Ray popped in for an unforseen visit.
Rex emerged from the castle in a run and sprinted after Death and Karin. "Death wait up!" He called but Death didn't cease with his speed. It was times like these Rex was grateful for the wolf stamina he gained in human form.

Karin raised her eyebrows not only at the mention of a "Big Brother" but the bitterness that appeared in his voice. Keeping up with him, she noticed that Death was getting more and more upset. She frowned at him and looked behind her when she heard Rex. Looking at Death, she asked, "Shouldn't we wait for your brother?"

"He can catch up. " Death replied to Karin. They were almost at the gate of the school, and outside of the grounds where the protective charms wouldn't work so Ray could arrive.
Rex didn't give up with his speed and finally caught up next to Death and Karin. Rex could see the Hogwarts gate up ahead.
Outside the grounds a large portal opened up and a man stepped out, dressed in the clothes of the shinigami. His zanpakto hanging on his back. Ray Suromano smiled evily as he saw the shadowy shapes approaching.

Karin was amazed that she saw the portal to the Soul Society. It had been almost a year since she had seen it. She saw someone walk out of the portal and instantly, her hand wrapped around the handle of her Zanpakto. There was this spiritual pressure that threw her off. What was he doing here? More importantly, what did this person have to do with Death and Rex? She inched a little closer to Death, trusting him out of the three people that were here.

"What do you want this time Ray?" Death asked approaching the gate.
"What? I need to have an excuse for visiting my two little brothers?" Ray grinned.
"Shut up, I only have one brother. Your not even related to me by blood" Death retorted angrily.
"Who was it that adopted you two when your parents died. My father. Where did you spend a few years in our household living with us? Soul society. Who argued to leave you be when you two boneheads left Soul Society illegally to come here? Me. I feel that I may as well be related by blood to you two." Ray sighed.
"The only reason you wanted us left alone is that so you could have someone who you could annoy and attempt to boss around. Don't forget how many times you told me Vampires were disgusting beings and that I should take the cure. You, who reminded me and Rex daily that our parents were bloodsucking scum. You."
Ray nodded along, his attention already grabbed. "And who is this pretty young woman?" He smiled crookedly. Moving quickly he stepped forward and went to brush his hand along Karin's face.
Death reacted violently and pushed Ray away from her. "Don't you dare lay a finger on her!" He snarled.
Rex followed his brothers lead and stepped infront of Karin. "I think you should leave before he does somthing." Rex spoke worriedly to Ray.
"Hmm yes, I know what you mean. It's hard to reason with him when he gets like this. I suppose it just shows his vampire colours. What a beast he really is inside." Ray taunted.
Death was having trouble not taking the bait. He reached back and grabbed Karin's hand to help control himself. He had to attach himself onto somthing solid and real to stay focused. Any more and he would end up throwing Ray back to Soul Society with a broken neck.

Karin watched the argument next to Death. What she heard was something that she had never guessed. So that's what's all this is about. She was taken aback however when the attention was directed to her. Karin froze unable to react but jumped when Death pushed Ray out of her way.
She looked at Death and squeezed his hand. "Thank you but I can take care of myself." She moved in front of him and pulled out her sword. Aisuhana (ice flower) shown brightly in her hand as she held it to her side. She didn't want to hurt him but there wasn't anything that was going to stop her.

Death took a deep breath and tried to hold onto himself inside. Ray was the only person who made him this angry. It was quite frustrating when Death was sitting alone thinking about it.
Rx stood back when Karin moved forward. Turning he went to see if Death was okay.
Ray smiled smugly. "What? You think you can take me? Little girl?" Ray laughed and drew his own Zanpakto. Midnight Sun. " I'm the 2nd in command of the 2nd sqaud. And guess what? I've not lost a fight yet and I don't plan on it anytime soon." Ray let his full power flow and moved with full speed going in with a thrust of his blade.

Karin easily blocked his attacked and looked at him with a bored look. "2nd squad? Really? Your third and fourth seat must have been severely injured when you took their place." Karin was third seat because she didn't want all the work that came with being the second seat. Karin was powerful enough but she knew she had to take her guard up. He was powerful than she thought. Her left hand was killing her from blocking that attack. Jumping up into the air, she ran her hand on the blade of her Zanpakto and the blade turned glassy and wavy. Lifting her blade, she said, "I'll finish you off quickly then. Dance Ice flowers." A storm blew up around Ray quickly turning into a tornado of ice scards.

Death knew what was coming, he'd seen Ray do in thousands of times. He had to help, shaking he climbed to his knees.
Ray smirked as she attacked. Activating his sword he called out. "Darken!"
A dark shadow rose up around Ray and surrounded him. The small shards of ice sunk into the shape and Ray called out "Gleam!" The shape transformed into a blinding burst of light. The shards all sent flying towards Karin.
Leaping before it was fired he moved faster than ever before. Death jumped through the air and grabbed Karin, pulling her out of it's way.

Karin was sure it hit but gaped at him when he had threw the shards back at her. She had to prepare quickly to block it. She knew that she couldn't be able to block all of it but some of it would be better than the full blow. However, she was quickly pushed out of the way. Landing on the ground, she looked up and saw that Death had pulled her out of the way. "Thank you," she muttered before she quickly stood up. A dark type of sword. She had never dealt with that type before.

Death writhed in pain. He hadn't pulled his leg out of the way on time. Ray always did add some effects to the blast back. And it appeared poison was his current favourite. Death used his wand to clear the wound. Lucky it was only a few shards. "Always dodge." Death told her. "If your hit you're dead. There's a time gap between his defence move. It used to be 10 seconds but I'm not sure how long it is now." He manged to spurt out between deep breathes.
"Now now Death. You should have let her figure it out herself. Or better yet, let her die. People around you die anyway in the end. Mum, Dad, your little ex-bitc..."
Death cut him off by throwing the dagger he kept strapped to his leg. The blade traveled toward Ray but Death pulled the thin wire it was tied to and moved it off course.
As planned Ray used the dark barrier to absorb the attack. But it immediatly went down as nothing entered it.

What type of soul reaper was he? This isn't good. They should have just left. She saw something flash and she knew what was going on. Standing up, she started a chant keeping her eyes on Ray. "Hadou 4: White lightning!" She knew what to expect now. He sucked it up as usual and tried to throw it back at him. As soon as he threw it back at her, a voice yelled, "Bakudou 61: Rukujyoukourou! (Luminous prison of 6 bars)"
Yamamoto landed next to her and said, "You're stupid for going with them you know that right?"
"Scold me after we defeat him!"

Ray smiled. This was getting interesting. "And then there were two." He grinned as his darkness rose and sucked in the bars. As they were about to fire back the darkness moved away from his back in order to fire all at Karin and Yamamoto.
Death knew the routine and had healed up his leg. Running quickly Death zoomed round behind Ray. Letting all his rage slip through for a second, He focused it into one swing of his arm smacking Ray in the back. He went flying forward and his arms hanging behind him. Using vampire reflexs Death grabbed the Zanpakto before it was out of range.

So this was the time delay that Death was talking about. Yamamoto and Karin easily dodged it. Now that they were prepared from what Ray could do, it was harder to get them distracted. Yamamoto landed near Rex while Karin had flown in a different direction and landed near Death. She looked at the Zanpakto in his hands and smiled at him.

"He needs the sword to defend by the way" Death smiled, "I just thought I'd let you know." Swinging the sword in a high arc he brought it down into the ground digging it in. " Time for a little trick." Grabbing his wrist he flatened his other hand out." Vampire techniech 57. Killing Seal." A black light appeared around the sword but vanished.
Ray quickly grabbed his Zanpakto back again by summoning it. "Whatever you did it won't work." He smiled arrogantly. "So this is how it goes? The friends together and the boy and girl. I wouldn't trust him he might drain your blood. He may not want to but if he's busy he could get carried away. Right Death?" He grinned menacingly.

Karin's hopes raised but they were dashed quickly. Her eyes widen at the fact that Ray had summoned his sword back. Yamamoto looked at him and said, "What are you? You're not a soul reaper." No soul reaper could summon his sword like that. Yamamoto looked over at Karin and said, "We may have to do it."
She sighed and looked at him. "I guess we don't have any choice."

"I am it's just not my only talent is all" Ray smirked, " You won't beat me. Even with darling Death. Though he may not be any help at all. Hiding behind the vampire self. It's no wonder his parents were murdered."
Death rose to the bait and ran forward drawing his second dagger. He quickly thrusted in as Ray tried to use the swords darkness. Unfortunatley for him Death's sealing had worked and the blade sparked refusing to let out energy. This left Ray open as Death's dagger pierced his shoulder.

Karin and Yamamoto watched in shock and awe that Death's spell, whatever it was, had worked. They nodded and jumped in the air, taking different angles, making sure that Death didn't get in the way.

Ray crumpled to the ground, unable to take the beating from all three of them. "That was pretty good" He said breathing heavily, still trying to act tough.
"Save it," Death groaned. "Go annoy your sister or someone. But in soul society" He nodded to the still open gate.
Rex moved in from his stand position. "That was quicker than usual." He never did anything when Ray came by. It was always Death he argued with and was beaten by. This time it seemed a team effort was made.

Both Yamamoto and Karin landed. Yamamoto wore a huge smile like he was the only person who defeated him. Karin knew what was coming up. Rolling her eyes, she stuck her hand out and a large bright light appeared on her palm and suddenly Yama was thrown into the sky. Walking over to Rex, she shrugged and said, "He was going to rub it in his face anyway. Might as well stop it."

"Yeah that was a good idea." Rex chuckled. "I'm Rex," He said extending his hand to her, "We haven't really spoke much." Rex smiled.
Death sighed, "Umm we still have to throw him through and close the gate. "So get to know each other afterwords?"
Ray laughed but unfortunatly he coughed alot during it and it didn't sound as convincing. "You can't send me back."
"Umm I've did many times before." Death told him slowly getting angry again. "Karin, do you wish to do the honours this time? I'm getting sick of him."
"He wasn't already?" Rex asked Karin in a whisper.

"Okay then" Death picked up Ray and flung him through the portal. "Have fun explaining your injuries again"
Ray cursed as went flying through the portal. The world disappeared and reapeared in soul society.
"Right, now to close the gate." Death said as he walked to right beside it. " A very delicate process" He grinned, his mood improving as he punched the gate full force. A crack appeared up around the border line and it seemed to collapse in on itself.

Karin watched Death and rolled her eyes. "I'm guessing you guys can't use Kido can you? I would have magically thrown him back into the portal." Closing the portal. Something that Karin could easily do. She took a step and when she saw the portal collapse in front of her, she froze and shrugged. "I guess that's a way to do it."
There was a rustle behind them and Karin's hand flew to the handle of her katana but when Yamamoto appeared, severely scratched he relaxed. Looking at Karin, he yelled, "What the hell was that for?"
"For pissing me off!"
"How did I do that?"
"You didn't. Ray did."
"How did I get blamed for that?"
"Stop being such a baby will you?" Karin was a little upset that someone just above her ranking almost beat her.

Death heard the feelings from her voice and he could sense it slightly too. He felt like hugging her to try and cheer up but he wasn't sure if Yamamoto would be like that very much.
Rex watched the argument with mild amusement. It reminded him of the way Death and he argued. Playful light natured, but they both took it serious like Karin and Yamamoto.

Karin turned her heel and Yama demanded, "Where are you going?!?"
Without turning, she said, "I'm going for a walk if you don't mind." She looked at Death, her face softening but her eyes were still aflame. "Shall we continue our walk before we were rudely interrupted?" Karin turned before she walked back towards the grounds.
Yamamoto looked at Karin's back and turned away. "Come on Rex, let's head back to the castle. You don't want to get caught in the cross fire." He saw that look in her eyes before she turned and he knew that it was. She was pissed. Sighing, Yamamoto rested his hands behind his head and said, "Karin's never in a good mood after losing. She's probably worse than me."

"Sure." Death said and jogged after her until he caught up. He'd noticed the change in her yet again. Sometimes he felt that his vampire senses made him notice way too much.
Rex sighed. It seemed they had picked sides. "See you later Death." He called after his brother, before turning round to Yamamoto.
"Yeah, Bye" He called back. Turning his attention back to Karin he ,checking Yama wasn't in view incase he reacted badly, put an arm round Karin's shoulder in a comforting, half hug. "You okay?" He asked her.

Karin looked over at Death when his arm came around her and she didn't shrug it off. In fact, she accepted it and leaned against him and sighed. "I guess in a way." She was a little comforted that Death even noticed her emotion change. She looked down at her feet and sighed again.

"Is it Ray that's bothering you?" He asked her, "Or is the argument you and Yamamoto just had?"Death looked at her in return and lightly squeezed her shoulder. It was strange, he hardly knew her but he still cared this much. 'I guess I don't like seeing her sad' He thought to himself.
