This is always a tough problem, but I agree with Doc. You shouldn't end everything with him. It depends on what you want. I mean since we're having this discussion at all makes me think that you must like him a little in that way, right? If you don't, just gently tell him that it just wouldn't work out. If you do and both of you are single, go for it.

I don't know if it helps you at all, but it helped point my life in a different direction. Helped me to choose a career path I probably never would've considered and now I'm 23 and have a life long career and am getting married in 43 days all because I took those risks. I guess you need to ask yourself this.... Can you risk loosing him either way??? Just some food for thought.
