1) : General Spelling tips :
It's good for you to always check your spelling and try not to fudge it with txt talk. If you want to say 'too' or 'to' don't say '2' for your character. It's completely and totally okay if you do it OOC, but many people don't think that's very good for when you're IC (In Character). If you don't know how to spell a word you can go to dictionary.com and then put your word in and they'll correct you if you're wrong, I guess the same thing could apply to if you just google it but the dictionary site works better for you to make sure that so that you make sure that is the word you wanted.

Same sound different spelling.
Too and to and two sound exactly the same but they mean and are spelled differently. Too, means included. Like...
I like that kind of ice cream too!
To, means...well you should know what that means.
This is to you, Anthony.
Two is a number.
The two of them went off to the parlor.

The same thing applies to faux and foe.
Faux=Fake
Foe=Enemy

2) : Punctuation; Let's go back to Elementary School when your English teacher was on your back for not using a period at the end of your sentence!

The period.
Everybody has seen the little dot but nobody really gives it any credit. If we didn't have this symbol just think of how horrible writings would be. Everything would go haywire! For example...
I like cheese. It stinks that I don't have pierced ears.
Would be..
I like cheese it stinks that I don't have pierced ears.
You can't understand if the person is referring to the cheese stinking or what! That small filled in circle saved you the trouble of figuring that out.

Exclaimation mark!
The exclaimation mark is put at the end of sentence to state that you're meaning it to be an emotional thing. The emotion could be excitement or anger but it plays a part on the written speach. For example...
Hooray.
Could be..
Hooray!
See the difference? If you can't your an idiot. No ofence. The first one sounds sarcastic and completely dead pan, where as the second one sounds invigerated with sincerity. You could also capitalize each letter to show more emotion.

Question Mark?
The question mark is as important as the period. It's purpose is obvious, to make sure that what ever is before it is asked not said. For example..
I'm dong fine. You?
Would be..
I'm doing fine. You.
If we didn't have that question mark. Use it, embrace it, it will be your friend...okay not really but just use the freakin' thing.

"Quotation Marks"
I cannot even tell you how important quotation marks are for RPing. They are absolutely positively a must. If you don't put in what the character you're playing is saying in between those quotation marks your role play partner will be very confused. It is also a good thing to put a comma after your quotation mark for each quote, depending on if it's next to your regular writing. If we didn't use these this is what would happen...
Danielle walked along and saw a friend of hers Hey Whitney!
Instead of..
Danielle walked along and saw a friend of hers,"Hey Whitney!"

3) : Capitalization
Using uppercase letters for some words are important. It may seem trivial but it's actually pretty difficult when you don't capitalize some words when you write. The words that do need to be that way are names, specific places, languages (French, English, Spanish, etc.), acronyms, and more. This is what happens when you don't...
In the night chance walks through the woods.
Instead of what it's supposed to be..
In the night Chance walks through the woods.
Chance is actually a person, but you wouldn't have known that in the first one.
