Posted May 29th, 2011 09:17 AM IP Just got back. Had a nice relaxing time at Taino. The resort is starting to show its age with several features on the pool not working but it didnt take away from the enjoyment. The water was very cloudy for some reason, it was also very warm. Also, they really do need to think about refreshing the Ocean units. I know they did a partial refresh when they had to do repairs after the hurricane but most of the units are over 15 years old and are starting to look it. I think they need to gut all the units and start fresh. Maybe even think about bringing them up to RCI Gold Crown standard. Get rid of the pools on the deck, they serve no purpose anymore and are just eyesores.
During the week I took a trip over to the Bazaar. It was quite sad. They have painted a lot of the units and they are just waiting for tenants. Unfortunately without more shops open there is no reason for people to visit and without visitors there really is no reason to open new shops. Something has to give. Anyone know the current status of the old Princess resort?
Anyway, I had a nice time just relaxing all week. 51 weeks till my next visit!

Posted June 7th, 2011 09:34 AM IP Hi Jeff! We just missed you. I stayed at Ocean Reef 5/28-6/4 and had a wonderful time! I visited the pool at Taino and it was still cloudy--I have never seen it stay like that!! Usually happens after a storm!! We never made it to the Bazaar to look around, but the fish stand behind the Bazaar had freshly caught red snapper for $4 a lb!! Conch was 2.50 each!
We went to Redbeards Thursday nite and it was really nice! We sat out on the deck and had a big crowd and a great dinner--I had grilled snapper and is was EXCELLENT!! Thanks for Brian, the owner, we had a great time!
I enjoyed my week--can't wait til the next one!!!
