Every Minute has a Lot of Livin' in It

Facing Your Maker

As I faced my Maker at the last judgment, I knelt before the Lord along
with all the other souls. Before each of us laid our lives like the
squares of a quilt in many piles. An Angel sat before each of us sewing
our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our life. But as my
angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and
empty each of my squares was. They were filled with giant holes. Each
square was labeled with a part of my life that had been difficult, the
challenges and temptations I was faced with in everyday life. I saw
hardships that I endured, which were the largest holes of all. I glanced
around me. Nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and
there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright
hues of worldly fortune. I gazed upon my own life and was disheartened.
My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth
together, threadbare and empty, like binding air.

Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the
light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose, each in turn, holding up
their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon
me, and nodded for me to rise. My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I
hadn't had all the earthly fortunes..... I had love in my life, and
laughter. But there had also been trials of illness, and death, and
false accusations that took from me my world as I knew it. I had to
start over many times, I often struggled with the temptation to quit,
only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I spent
many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my
life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I endured painfully,
each time offering it up to the Father in hopes that I would not melt
within my skin beneath the judgmental gaze of those who unfairly judged
me. Now, I had to face the truth.

My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was. I rose
and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light.

A gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the others who stared at me
with wide eyes. Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light
flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ.

Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He
said," Every time you gave over your life to Me, it became My life, My
hardships, and My struggles. Each point of light in your life is when you
stepped aside and let Me shine through, until there was more of Me than
there was of you.

May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine

Christian poems can try to communicate the sense of peace and safety that comes with knowing Jesus Christ. The Christian poem below tries to do that.

To Do List From God

I ran my life in search of worldly things;
My time and will were firmly in control.
I thought I had no need for what God brings;
I gave no heed to murmurs from my soul.

ďYouíre planning, doing all the time,Ē it said,
ďBut something else is missing deep inside.
Your mind is whirling, but your heart is dead,
So turn to God and let go of your pride.Ē

I did, and God said, ďHereís My plan for you:
Give your life to Me, and just let go.
Have faith and pray, and read the Bible through,
And youíll have blessings more than you can know.Ē

So simple, yet it brings me perfect peace,
Living life for God the way I should.
Direction, purpose, fullness and releaseó
Life with God is very, very good.

By Joanna Fuchs

The inspirational Christian poem above, To Do List From God, focuses on how much better and more peaceful life is when we move away from worldly things and closer to Jesus.

Christians who remember what their lives were like before being saved can relate to how this Christian poems reveals how the stresses of the world and our need to plan and control things can make life difficult.

When we turn it all over to God, life becomes so much more peaceful and satisfying.

Christian poems can address Jesus directly, with thanks and praise, as this one does.

Just Like Me

Dear Lord, forgive our yielding to temptation;
Forgive our pride, our love of worldly things.
Have mercy on our love of sensual pleasure,
Compassion on the sins that self love brings.

It must be hard to understand us sometimes;
So very different is your heart and mind.
But wait, I just remembered that you do know
What itís like to be a part of humankind.

You suffered just like we do, and you were tempted.
You lived with us so you could comprehend
The things that we go through each trying day,
So you could give us mercy, and be our friend.

Thank you for compassion and forgiveness;
Thank you for your love and empathy.
Thank you, Lord, for coming down from heaven
To experience lifeís trials, just like me.

Any collection of Christian poetry should include Christian poems in the category of forgiveness, which is one of the bedrock basics of Christianity. If itís true that you write about what you need to learn, then I should write dozens of forgiveness verses. I have a situation in my family that I have found difficult to forgive. My daughter, my only child, who lives a short drive from me, told me in the year 2000 that I was "no longer part of her family." I have at least two grandchildren that I know of, one of whom Iíve never seen. Donít pity me; God has blessed me mightily in other ways. With much prayer and the Lordís help, I have come a long way, but I have a long way to go. I am asking for your prayers that I can forgive completely, let go, and turn it all over to the Lord.

Some Christian poems come out of personal experience. This Christian poem comes straight from my heart.

Help Me Forgive

When rage and fury overwhelm my heart,
Itís time to look to Godís own Holy Word.
I search the Bible for His good advice;
My will to His commands must be deferred.

In Romans God reveals His love for me;
In all things God works only for my good;
He gives me blessings I canít understand;
Iíd be peaceful if Iíd do the things I should.

Jesus forgave so much; why then canít I?
I want to mold my life after His own.
I pray, I try, but my sinful nature wins;
Lord, help me, I canít do this thing alone.

In Colossians, I read about the peace of Christ;
Oh, how I long to feel it in my heart.
All I have to do is to forgive,
But Lord, it seems I donít know where to start.

I need to walk a mile in the otherís shoes;
Theyíre doing what they think they have to do.
I know some problems are blessings in disguise,
But Lord, sometimes I feel so doggone blue.

Ephesians says "forgive as the Lord forgave you;
Get rid of anger and every form of malice."
Iíd love to just let go and release it all,
But upon my heart is a wound thatís become a callus.

Iíll keep praying, trying, Lord, no matter what;
Iím determined to let go and relinquish blame;
Some day, Iíll say, and be truly sincere:
"I forgive it all in Jesusí precious name."

Save Me

Save me from myself, Lord;
Save me from my need
To always run my life, Lord,
To control my every deed.

Save me from my pride, Lord,
My focus on just me;
Help me learn to serve, Lord;
Show me how to be.

Save me from the world, Lord,
When tempting things entice;
Remind me of eternity
With You, in paradise.

I give my life to you, Lord
My every need you fill;
Iím resting in my faith, Lord;
You saved me, and you always will

We need you, Lord.

Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert
thirst for cool, clean water,
we long for you to quench us.
In a world gone progressively mad,
with chaos all around us,
we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.
With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,
spreading heavy darkness,
creating feelings of emptiness,
we hunger for your goodness and light.
Turn us around, Lord, we pray;
retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.
Draw us to the satisfaction
of your purity and righteousness.
Cleanse us, and make us more like you,
role models, examples, beacons,
for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.
Come, Lord Jesus.
We need you, Lord.

This Christian poem idealizes the Christian life, one that is impossible for a worldly sinner to attain, but one to which Christians must aspire.

A Perfect Christian

You could count on a perfect Christian
To always be gentle and humble,
To be immune to sin,
And never, ever stumble.

Heíd study and remember
All of Godís commands;
Heíd be trustworthy, moral and honest;
Youíd know just where he stands.

With others, sheíd be in harmony;
Sheíd never lose her cool;
Forgiving and forgetting,
Following the Golden Rule.

Heíd surrender his life to God,
Full of joy and peace,
Free of stress and worryÖ
Perfect, pure release.

Sheíd lift up everyone,
Full of sweet compassion,
Free of worldly wants,
Ignoring worldly fashion.

But we canít ever be perfect,
So we always need to pray
For the strength to do our best
To love God and obey.

Youíre Always There for Me

When the world comes crashing in
And chaos rules my mind,
I turn my heart to you, Lord,
And pure, sweet peace I find.

You lift me out of trouble
You comfort me in pain;
You nourish, heal and cleanse me,
Like cool, refreshing rain.

In times of joy and bliss,
When things are going right,
You lift me even higher,
And fill me with delight.

You listen to my prayers;
You hear my every plea;
Iím safe because I know
Youíre always there for me.

Christian poetry often centers on Jesus as role model, as this Christian verse does. This inspirational Christian poem helps us to keep our priorities straight.

Like You

Lord help me to be in Your holy will;
Tell me what to do today;
Lead me in Your righteousness;
Make me more like You, I pray.

Guard me against this corrupting world,
Its perverted priorities, temptations, too.
Direct my mind toward Your commands,
So I can focus my life on You.

Fill my heart with Your light and love,
So I can assist those I see in need;
With You as my role model, let me be
Like You in thought and word and deed.

Christian poems can describe the spiritual struggles that Christians go through, as this free verse Christian poem does.

Iím Trying, ButÖ

Iím trying, butÖ
what I want to do,
I donít do enough of,
and what I donít want to do,
I do too much of.
I know the rules for a Christian life,
according to the Bible,
and Iím trying; I really am, butÖ
heaven and eternity seem so far away,
and the rampantly materialistic world
presses in so close
from every direction, every side,
that I get distracted.
Focus, focus, focus!
I need to focus, laser-like
on a simple, God-centered life.
Do I really need
to make that frivolous purchase,
instead of giving the money
to someone who needs it
so much more than I do?
Can I watch that TV show,
read that book, listen to that song
that contains (and promotes!)
even a little bit
of what the Bible forbids,
without being corrupted?
Do I do enough
to love and help and encourage others?
Pride always hovers,
eagerly waiting
to subdue and conquer humility,
so I think too much of myself.
I know the rules;
the Bible makes everything clear.
Forgive me, Lord;
Iím trying, butÖ

Christian poetry can comfort those in distress, as this free Christian poem does. It's a Christian verse that acknowledges that we can derive strength, courage and comfort from knowing our Lord is always there for us.

Nothing We Canít Handle

No matter what distressing times I face,
When rain and storms replace the sunny weather,
When things I counted on fail to sustain me,
Thereís nothing we canít handle, Lord, together.

If those I thought were friends act more like foes,
If I start to lose the things I hold most dear,
I know that I can tell it all to You;
You want to listen to me and to hear.

When my earthly world dissolves before my eyes,
When problems seem too great for me to bear,
Youíll always be there for me, Lord, I know;
I can come to you on bended knees in prayer.

Itís such a comfort, Lord, to realize,
Youíll always be my King, my Lord, my Friend;
To share my burdens, worries, and my cares,
Youíll love me and support me to the end.

Christian poetry should reference our Lord Jesus Christ, and Christian poems should help us live our lives according to His commands, as this inspirational Christian poem does.

More Like Jesus

Let us be more like Jesus
In everything we do;
Letís live a life of service,
A life thatís fresh and new.

Letís relinquish worldly things,
And not be slaves to fashion;
Letís fill our hearts with love,
Forgiveness and compassion.

Yes, letís be more like Jesus,
Being always in Godís will,
For if Jesusí light shines through us,
Our earthly purpose weíll fulfill.

This free Christian poem, in free verse (it doesn't rhyme), is about what it's like before and after. It's a Christian verse that summarizes the transition from secular to Christian. We are happy to provide this Christian poetry online.

Come To Jesus

Isnít there more to life?
Is this all there is?

Imprisoned by our need for control,
trapped by insatiable desires
for worldly pleasures,
we are oppressed by our desperate hunger
for approval and love
from everyone
except the One who loves us most.

Straining, fighting to release
a familiar yet unknown burden,
we struggle to flee the tension, the stress
from the inner knowing
that our lives are incomplete
without Him who created us.

Parched, thirsting for more, more, more
of something we canít even define,
racing in the wrong direction,
we search everywhere
except the one place
where what we really want
can actually be found.

Turn around.
Come to Jesus.
He is hope;
He is joy;
He is freedom,
direction, and purpose.

Come to Jesus.
Let Him carry your burdens.
Surrender your pain to His love.
Turn from darkness to the Son,
to the beacon Who will always light your way.

Come to Jesus.
He is waiting...
waiting to lead you home.

Christian poetry can focus on God's creation, as this Christian verse does. It's a free Christian poem written in free verse rather than rhyme. It could also be used as a Christian prayer.

God in the Seasons

In Spring we are reminded
of the magnificence of Your creation,
as the earth is covered in verdant green,
with splendid splashes of color,
and we witness birth everywhere,
of animals bearing their young,
of buds turning into leaves and flowers
and our own moods being reborn
with renewed energy and life.

in Summer, we remember
the warmth of Your love for us
and the light of Your goodness.
Both are everywhere for those who look.
Thank You for butterflies,
birds and wildlife for us to enjoy,
water to swim in,
and weather that frees us to romp and play
while outdoor pleasures are at their peak.

In Fall, we thank you for Your cooling breezes,
that bring relief from the relentless summer heat.
We see bright colors fading and dying,
leaves turning brown, crisp, disintegrating,
only to be reborn next year,
reminding us that every living thing, including us,
must die in some way before being reborn.

In Winter, as white snow blankets the ground,
we are reminded of Your purity and Your perfection.
The complexity and beauty of each single snowflake
only hints at Your transcendent intelligence and creativity.
We hunker down and snuggle in,
knowing this season will wind down
and Spring will reappear, as it always has
because You created an orderly, predictable universe,
not by chance, but from your flawless design.

Thank You for the seasons, Lord,
and everything in them
that You created for our enjoyment.

Christian poetry can address current events, and Christian poems can influence people's behavior and actions, as this Christian poem hopes to do.

More Than Ever

In todayís chaotic world,
With everything around us crumbling,
Morality held in contempt,
Our leaders false, corrupt, or bumbling,

More than ever, we need Christ
To lead us through this darkening place;
His absolute truth will light our way;
Heíll lift us with His love and grace.

The Bible is our cornerstone;
In Godís word, we take our stands;
Role models we will strive to be,
Examples of our Lordís commands.

Dear Lord Jesus, strengthen us
To complete the tasks youíd have us do;
We pray youíll lead us, guide us now
To know and love and follow you.

A Little Country Church

ĎTwas a little frame Country Church, standing over there.
Many times, I walked this way, under parents' loving care.

We had a special pew, room enough for a babe to have a bed,
As we sat quietly and listened to what the preacher said.

He was a man of God. The Spirit of God, through him, truly ran.
Godís words he spoke to us. He was a Godly man.

We would sing the songs of old, about our Saviorís love
And how awesome it would be when we get to Heaven above.

Our Church was out in the country, beside a lovely wood.
Weíd listen to the gentle breeze blowing through the trees, as oft as we could.

It seemed so peaceful, the little Church ever so full of Grace.
Wouldnít it be a wonder, someday, just to go back and see this place?

I can almost hear the singing now, about how amazing was Godís love;
How the river of life was ever flowing in Heaven, there, above.

When a soul was saved by grace, the Angels would shout and sing
For the victory of our Savior, to Heaven, more souls to bring.

There arenít as many little Churches, today, standing closely by.
We would have to go back to yesterday, maybe break down and cry.

But those days are gone forever. For, now, we have Churches of brick and stone.
But if we can still, in our hearts go back, then itís never really gone.

Heavenly Grass

My feet took a walk in heavenly grass.
All day while the sky shone clear as glass.
My feet took a walk in heavenly grass,
All night while the lonesome stars rolled past.
Then my feet come down to walk on earth,
And my mother cried when she give me birth.
Now my feet walk far and my feet walk fast,
But they still got an itch for heavenly grass.
But they still got an itch for heavenly grass.

The Windhover:
To Christ Our Lord

I caught this morning morning's minion, king-
dom of daylight's dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird -- the achieve of; the mastery of the thing!

Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here
Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion
Times told lovelier, more dangerous, O my chevalier!

No wonder of it: shťer plůd makes plough down sillion
Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear,
Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermillion.

The Summer Day

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean--
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down--
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is is you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?

Always for the first time
Hardly do I know you by sight
You return at some hour of the night to a house at an angle to my window
A wholly imaginary house
It is there that from one second to the next
In the inviolate darkness
I anticipate once more the fascinating rift occuring
The one and only rift
In the facade and in my heart
The closer I come to you
In reality
The more the key sings at the door of the unknown room
Where you appear alone before me
At first you coalesce entierly with the brightness
The elusive angle of a curtain
It's a field of jasmine I gazed upon at dawn on a road in the vicinity of Grasse
With the diagonal slant of its girls picking
Behind them the dark falling wing of the plants stripped bare
Before them a T-square of dazzling light
The curtain invisibly raised
In a frenzy all the flowers swarm back in
It is you at grips with that too long hour never dim enough until sleep
You as though you could be
The same except that I shall perhaps never meet you
You pretend not to know I am watching you
Marvelously I am no longer sure you know
You idleness brings tears to my eyes
A swarm of interpretations surrounds each of your gestures
It's a honeydew hunt
There are rocking chairs on a deck there are branches that may well scratch you in the forest
There are in a shop window in the rue Notre-Dame-de-Lorette
Two lovely crossed legs caught in long stockings
Flaring out in the center of a great white clover
There is a silken ladder rolled out over the ivy
There is
By my leaning over the precipice
Of your presence and your absense in hopeless fusion
My finding the secret
Of loving you
Always for the first time

Our Faith II

Our faith had been on the mantle so long
We no longer felt uncomfortable with it.
It lay between a mask and a shell and
New guests still commented on it;
The unusual shape and coloring made them
Ask where we got it, (usually we didn't
Tell the story), what it cost (it's impossible
To say), then, 'have we had it appraised?'
'No, not recently,' is the answer to that,
But if you look at the cracks I think
You'll agree that it may be a waste and
Anyway we have no intention of getting
Rid of our faith even if we no longer
Really take it in or even dust it,
It's one of those things we carry with us
Place to place, and sometimes after making
Love when we do not turn on the
Television, our eyes still do go up to it.

Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you
Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,
Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,
I have made this place around you,
If you leave it you may come back again, saying Here.
No two trees are the same to Raven.
No two branches are the same to Wren.
If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows
Where you are. You must let it find you.

Wake up. Day calls you

Wake up. Day calls you
to your life: your duty.
And to live, nothing more.
Root it out of the glum
night and the darkness
that covered your body
for which light waited
on tiptoe in the dawn.
Stand up, affirm the straight
simple will to be
a pure slender virgin.
Test your bodys metal.
cold, heat? Your blood
will tell against the snow,
or behind the window.
The colour
in your cheeks will tell.
And look at people. Rest
doing no more than adding
your perfection to another
day. Your task
is to carry your life high,
and play with it, hurl it
like a voice to the clouds
so it may retrieve the light
already gone from us.
That is your fate: to live
Do nothing.
Your work is you, nothing more.

Make A Memory - Elaine Hardt
Of all the many things that we are provided there is nothing more precious than time. Especially time with family and those we love. This poem contributed by Elaine Hardt reminds us of such a precious commodity and the importance of utilizing it wisely.

Make a memory with your children, Spend some time to show you care;
Toys and trinkets can't replace those Precious moments that you share.

Money doesn't buy real pleasure, It doesn't matter where you live;
Children need your own attention, Something only you can give.

Childhood's days pass all too quickly, Happy memories all too few;
Plan to do that special something, Take the time to go or do.

Make a memory with your children, Take the time in busy days;.
Have some fun while they are growing, Show your love in gentle ways.

Life can prove to be an amazing journey as well as present challenges that at times can be "perceived" as insurmountable. But is their appearance blocking and keeping you from receiving all that you were intended? Their is a "Perfect Plan" in place that enables and empowers you to attract and experience whatever you might choose for yourself.

The Perfect Plan
By Chuck Danes

Do you sometimes feel that lifeís unfair, that future hope is bleak?
Do your day to day experiences leave your spirit feeling weak?
Do you ever think the joys in life are reserved for just a few?
That your hopes and dreams youíll never reach no matter what you do.

Have you ever thought how hard it is to get ahead these days?
That strain and strife are part of life and nothing you do pays?
If you do, take heart my friend, so many think this way.
But there is hope a brighter path that you can take today.

It will require a shift in thought, it may challenge your beliefs
But it will guide you to a life of joy, content, relief.
So listen closely and absorb this perfect plan I share
Implement these steps youíll learn and soon youíll be aware

Of a life thatís filled with joy beyond your wildest dreams
Regardless what "appears" to be no matter how life seems.
Focus your attention on what you soon will learn
The wisdom in it, if acted on will provide those things you yearn

The answers are available just seek and you will find
That all which youíve experienced is a product of your mind
These troubles you encounter now that you feel get in your way
Are due to thoughts, emotions felt that you had yesterday.

For long ago the plan was made which allowed you to be free
From all these limitations that you now perceive to be
You have been given power which youíre not yet aware
Itís through misuse of this gift thatís created your despair

For in the plan there came a clause that remains within it still
That each and every soul on earth be entitled to free will
You chose to limit your results by absorbing false belief
The plan designed to bring you joy through your own choice brought you grief

For every thought, emotion felt consists of energy
And those that you allow to grow is what life comes to be
The life that you are living now is due to seeds youíve sown
The thoughts, beliefs, emotions felt is precisely what has grown

You must undo the damage done and shatter old beliefs
And do away with those that harm instead of bring relief
You must rethink the choices made that brought you where you are
Rewrite the script of your own life which allows you to go far

There is a law that draws to you those things youíd like to see
Just use your free will properly and soon you will be free
To experience lifeís beauty and all it can provide
Just follow closely what is shared and use it as your guide

First you must become aware of all you think and say
Discover and become aware of the powerful role they play
In attracting the experiences you come to see in life
Are they in harmony with joy, or lack and pain and strife?

For it is these that stir within emotions that you feel
Projected out attracting more what you perceive as real
The energy they emanate attracts more of the same
Be conscious of the signal sent and what it is you claim

Now ponder on your core beliefs, what you believe is true
Are those beliefs in harmony with what you want to do?
Examine closely one by one and discern if they are truth
Where they handed down to you and given you in youth?

Are they based on love and joy and possibility
Or struggle, strain, fear and strife, examine them and see
Determine which will serve you and which you need to shun
Analyze them carefully, each and every one.

Now replace them with only those that support you in your dream
With new beliefs of hope and faith which build your self esteem
Persevere and seek whatís true and in no time you will see
Those old beliefs that held you bound soon will cease to be.

Youíve made tremendous progress but there still is more to do
Donít become discouraged though, the difficult is through
The next steps are enjoyable and will reshape your mind
Imprint it with desired scenes, that which you choose to find

Write out your desires each in great detail
Read them every chance you get and do it without fail
Describe each scene that you desire what do you see and feel
Summon all your senses write them like their real

Now take some time and just sit back relax a while and breathe
Clear your mind and leave behind the troubles you perceive
Now close your eyes and visualize what it is like to be
Living out each event that you desire to see

Clearly see and smell and touch those things that you desire
Envision deeply in your mind those things that you require
Immerse yourself in each event use taste and touch and sight
Experience it fully allowing emotions to ignite

Focus your attention on how it truly feels
To experience each goal youíve set and how each seems so real
Savor every second experience each scene
Allow your mind to paint your life on your newfound movie screen

Create each scene in great detail and just as you conclude
Allow your mind to shift toward a sense of gratitude
Express your heartfelt thanks toward the Source that makes it real
For giving you the life you choose and how it makes you feel

Now go about your daily chores and deep within you know
With humble expectation that the seeds youíve sown will grow
Those things that you desire most to experience and see
Will come into existence almost magically

Allow the Source to manifest those things you most desired
Give no thought to how and when, the Source knows whatís required
Surrender now your job is done youíve done all you can do
You must allow the process of creation to work through

Just stay alert and act upon the signs that come your way
They can appear so many ways and happen any day
Pay no mind to past or future just stay within the now
And you will see the way appear that leads you to the how

Just keep your mind from falling back stay focused on your dream
Regardless of appearances no matter how things seem
If you should slip and fall into your old destructive thought
Just quickly readjust your sights and do what youíve been taught

Break focus from appearances and focus on the goal
Allow your inner light to shine and you will then control
The events, condition, circumstance that you most desire to see
Just hold fast and persevere and they will come to be

Remember that internally those emotions that you feel
Are what attracts into your life what you come to know as real
So guard your thoughts check your beliefs make certain theyíre aligned
With your highest aspirations and your dreams your sure to find

Practice each and every day this wisdom gained today
Donít allow the outside world to steal your dreams away
And soon you will discover the power you hold within
To live a life experience that most think they canít win.

Now put to work this wisdom learned and put it to the test
And as your life takes on new form, enjoy a while and rest
But when you find this plan is real that what youíve learned is true
Share this plan with those who seek and how it worked for you

For there are many in the world who go through their whole life
Not knowing of this perfect plan that takes away their strife
Now spread the word and do your part so all the world can know
That this perfect plan was designed by Love and meant to help them grow

Now go forth and be the light so everyone can see
That every soul that treads the earth was intended to be free
There is no need for pain and grief, worry, fear, and strife
For itís by choice their own free will which molds and shapes their life

A Poem Of Gratitude

By Chuck Danes

I share my debt of gratitude with all my spiritual friends
Whether Christians, Muslims, Jews, and such or even Buddhist zens
Regardless of the place we live or where your faiths begun
My gratitude begins with this, "I've learned that we are One"

I'm grateful for the many days when clarity is strong
As well as those it "seems" that life has somehow led me wrong
For it's those times that awaken me and nudge me toward the light
Till once again my hopes and dreams are clearly held in sight

I'm grateful for the love within the circles that I dwell
My family, friends and even those who've made life seem like hell
For each of those have taught me more regarding how to Love
Provide me feelings to express these things that I write of

I am grateful for the right to dream, to hope, to wish, and know
That all my thoughts are merely seeds which based on Love must grow
That if I'll think them consciously and nurture them with care
These visions held, my hearts desires, will soon be waiting there

I'm grateful for the fact I've learned that we consciously create
That to mold and shape a life desired I must keep my thinking straight
That when the fear that shows it's head which is based on false belief
I have free will to change the thoughts to those that bring relief

I'm grateful too for false beliefs which led me on my quest
For mentors met along the way I truly do feel blessed
Who clearly showed me of the need to understand my worth
And deeper truth which promises a life divine on earth

I'm grateful for the fear I feel at times because I know
That when it's felt it's purging power exists to help me grow
The awareness of it's presence shows there's something more to learn
That my focus must stay fixed on Love to attract these things I yearn

I'm grateful for the joy I feel, I'm grateful for the fear
Understanding what it is and that it draws me near
To the life I know is waiting on the other side
And when it comes I must hold fast and use it as a guide

My gratitude goes deeper still, for breath, for sight, for life
For teachers who have shown me that my "thoughts" create my strife
I'm grateful for the plan which says whatever you receive
Is drawn to you through feelings felt, created by belief

I'm grateful for all nature, the birds the grass, the trees
The lakes which hold abundant life, a summer evenings breeze
The clouds above the ground below, the moon, the stars, the sun
The days and nights which represent that another day is done

I'm grateful for the time to spend to deeply go within
To tap into the Source of truth that's sure to help me win
For it is there that truth comes known regardless what is taught
In man made circles of the world that form restrictive thought

I'm grateful for all wisdom gained as I journey through this life
Like words expressed in anger hurt, and only lead to strife
That truth will stand the test of time, that Love will show the way
That thoughts and feelings of the past are what create today

I'm grateful too for all my friends who are reading this today
For the bonds that we have formed since your paths have crossed my way
And for the future and all it brings for all we have to share
The giving of ourselves to show the world how much we care

've learned to stay in gratitude no matter how things seem
That perceptions held as negatives will only slow your dream
So even though my path will lead through troubled spots I know
I must keep on, keep focus fixed, on life's abundant flow

There's so much that I'm grateful for though sometimes I'll forget
Beliefs rekindled from the past that I perceive as threats
But it's these times I must remind myself of what I know
That when they show their presence that they're here to help me grow

One final thought I'll share today before I say I'm through
I'm so grateful for these words to give today to all of you
It is my wish that they will help you keep the attitude
Which leads to that which you desire and comes through gratitude

A Year In Heaven

ONE year among the angels, beloved, thou hast been;
One year has heaven's white portal shut back the sound of sin:
And yet no voice, no whisper, comes floating down from thee,
To tell us what glad wonder a year of heaven may be.

Our hearts before it listen, the beautiful closed gate:
The silence yearns around us; we listen and we wait.
It is thy heavenly birthday, on earth thy lilies bloom;
In thine immortal garland canst find for these no room?
Thou lovedst all things lovely when walking with us here;
Now, from the heights of heaven, seems earth no longer dear?
We cannot paint thee moving in white-robed state afar,
Nor dream our flower of comfort a cool and distant star.

Heaven is but life made richer: therein can be no loss:
To meet our love and longing thou hast no gulf to cross;
No adamant between us uprears its rocky screen;
A veil before us only; -- thou in the light serene.

That veil 'twixt earth and heaven a breath might waft aside;
We breathe one air, beloved, we follow one dear Guide:
Passed in to open vision, out of our mists and rain,
Thou seest how sorrow blossoms; how peace is won from pain.

And half we feel thee leaning from thy deep calm of bliss,
To say of earth, "Beloved, how beautiful it is
The lilies in this splendor, -- the green leaves in this dew;
0, earth is also heaven, with God's light clothed anew!"

So, when the sky seems bluer, and when the blossoms wear
Some tender, mystic shading we never knew was there,
We'll say "We see things earthly by light of sainted eyes;
She bends where we are gazing, to-day, from Paradise."

Because we know thee near us, and nearer still to Him
Who fills thy cup of being with glory to the brim,
We will not stain with grieving our fair, though fainter light,
But cling to thee in spirit as if thou wert in sight.

And as in waves of beauty the swift years come and go,
Upon celestial currents our deeper life shall flow,
Hearing, from that sweet country where blighting never came,
Love chime the hours immortal, in earth and heaven the same.

God Speaks to Each of Us

God speaks to each of us before we are,
Before he's formed us then, in cloudy speech,
But only then, he speaks these words to each
And silently walks with us from the dark:

Driven by your senses, dare
To the edge of longing. Grow
Like a fire's shadowcasting glare
Behind assembled things, so you can spread
Their shapes on me as clothes.
Don't leave me bare.

Let it all happen to you: beauty and dread.
Simply go no feeling is too much
And only this way can we stay in touch.

Near here is the land
That they call Life.
You'll know when you arrive
By how real it is.

Give me your hand.

- Rainer Maria Rilke
