(Hebrew word for Still small voice of calm)

How often do we wish to hear the still small voice of calm?

To our soul it is such a soothing balm.

We long for the peace that the word of God can give.

If we hear his voice we truly live.

The noise of everyday living, blocks out God’s holy word.

Deafening cacophony is all that can be heard.

Quiet our mind, close our eyes and hear God speak.

It is the still small voice of calm that we seek.

Be still for a second and that second will be like an eternity.

That eternity can give such certainty.

Go through the earthquake; the wind and fire.

Go deep within one soul and imagine a soothing lyre.

Then reach the point of immeasurable peace.

All noise is abated, all distractions cease.

The crystal clear voice of God can clearly be heard.

Listen to his holy word.

We have reached the Chashmal, the still small voice of calm.

When you leave this holy state, give thanks and read a Psalm.

This may not be a prayer but it is all about prayer; about prayer and faith. Since I have no better way to express my gratitude, I wish to share these words with you:

Many of us have had their doubts. Many of us have had lives with intermittent periods of doubt and faith and in as far as grey cells are responsible for those doubts, intellect - from my perspective - may be a malady rather than a remedy.

For years I have not prayed for many of the things that people often pray for, for I have mainly prayed for more faith. Since faith cannot be purchased, since it has no price and since it is free, I experienced my prayer as humble and as if I wasn’t asking for much...

And so I have prayed for faith. For years and years I have prayed for more faith.

These past few months some incredible events have taken place in my life and all of those events have added immensely to my faith. After years of praying for faith, God has answered my prayers in His very own way, for rather than just sending me that faith, He poured out an overwhelming waterfall of events that gave me that faith whilst in the process fulfilling some of my dearest and most secret wishes that I most certainly would never have dared to pray for.

Whilst many of His gifts are still unfolding to the meanwhile increased perceptiveness that my strengthened faith has given me, I was driving along a highway yesterday whilst thinking about all that.

Suddenly it occurred to me that in giving me all that faith that I had prayed for (and possibly more) God had in fact given me a free eternal life insurance. Can you imagine! Not a life insurance but an Eternal Life Insurance...

And I don’t even have to pay a cent for the policy!

Here I was...all those years...believing that I was praying my most humble prayer and thinking that I was asking for something that was free and that thus I wasn’t asking for much whilst, in fact, I was praying for something that has no price because it is absolutely priceless...

I know that it sounds awfully inadequate but what else can I say but

I'm Singing A New Song

Today I'm singing a new song,
Jesus taught me well:
He said "singing heals the fearful"
And will keep us out of hell!

When I wake up in the morning,
I thank Jesus for this day,
He walks along beside me,
Though my feet are mired in clay.

He shares with me each morning,
In the garden of my heart:
He digs out the weeds of destruction,
And gives seeds of LOVE a start!

He opens new doors of blessedness,
He introduces me to His friends...
We sit together each morning,
He teaches me on Him to depend.

Lack of love is this world's problem,
It's been buried and burned away...
So many times we are too busy,
To help a disallusioned castaway!

That's what the Scriptures say...
Yet it's never to late to help another,
As we take time to kneel and pray.

When we follow God's instructions,
Our love will pave the way...
To happiness and peace of mind,
And eternity will save us from the fray!

Today I sing a new song
Of thanksgiving and praise...
I'm on my way to heaven,
I can hear angelic voices raise!

No Soul Left Behind

I came here with so many others
all through our fathers and mothers-
souls in skin and bones
crawling, then baby steps through time
growing and becoming of age-

I am me and you are you-
I see your light shining through
only from a few in this big place do I know
I see your face and I know that I know you
we are here together.

Do not make me cry
Do not die, nor let I
let us aim High, our Home, together we can try-
Do not go away no matter the pain, stay.
no matter the cross, Jesus' love remained the same.
All of us
You and I.

Let us be together forever-
Never a time to weep of any loss of each other
Pray Jesus to save us all-
Pray Jesus to see us pick each other up
when we fall-

then we will love each other to Heaven-
Jesus will meet us and lead us
to the tall gates of pearl,
the Gates will open to us all
trumpets will sound, and angels will know our names
we will be so different but our name is our name

God's children all Home again.

Christ is the Radiant Sun

Christ is the radiant Sun perpetually shining.
Ever transforming and aligning.
Christ is the light that shines for eternity.
This very same light shines for you and me.
Earth may be finite, but Christ is everlasting.
Love and light that is gently cascading.
Filling a vacuum in a moment of time.
Placing darkness and negativity strongly in a bind.
The Christ light empowers us to be victorious.
The Christ light makes us all meritorious.
Imagine a life of eternal day.
All principalities and kingdoms shift to thy dynamic sway.
Christ the radiant Sun is perpetually shining bright.
Are you ready to walk in the and shine in the light.

God’s Ways are Not Our Ways

Background: The death of a child.

Isaiah 55:89; James 1:2-5 and Philippians 4:4-7 emphasize several truths we need to know and be reminded of:

God's Ways are Not Our Ways
Isaiah 55:89

1. He is infinite--we are finite.

2. He knows the end from the beginning while we see just a short part of the now.

3. He knows the whys, while we grasp for wisdom.

4. Examples through scripture and experience clearly illustrate that His ways are not our ways and His thoughts re not our thoughts.

(In spite of our difficulty in understanding God's ways and thoughts, He in His mercy and promise provides.)

God Promises Us Help in Difficult Times
(James l:2-5 and Philippians 4:4-7)

In these verses God promises us some vital things for times like this.

First, He promises wisdom instead of confusion. (James l:5)

•The context is trials.
•God will allow us to understand and to see the good as we ask in faith believing.
•He promises us wisdom to understand the thoughts and ways of the infinite God.
Second, these verses tell us that God promises peace instead of anxiety (Phil. 4:4-7).

•A peace that passes understanding.
•A peace that stands as a sentry to guard your hearts and thoughts
•A calmness and a rest in God.
•Both of these (wisdom and peace) are ours for the asking.
•Both are conditioned upon prayer.
•Both are ours for the asking.
May I encourage you to pour out your hearts to the Heavenly Father and express them to Him and ask Him for His wisdom to understand and His peace to guard your hearts. (There is something else that these verses emphasize that is . . . )

Third, these verses tell us that we can rejoice and be thankful even in the darkest hour.

This is certainly not saying that it is wrong to sorrow and to grieve. Even our Lord grieved at the loss of a loved one and friend.

What it is saying is that even in sorrowful times we can find things for which to be thankful and rejoice. And these things are what we are to concentrate and think upon. Not what might have been but what is and shall be.

There are several things that come to my mind for which we can be thankful and rejoice.

1. First of all the reminder of Philippians 4:5 "The Lord is at hand." One of the meanings of this is that the Lord is locally near. He is with us--as He told us "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee" (Heb 13:5). He is with us and He is in control.

As Moses reminds us, "The eternal God is our dwelling place and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Duet. 33:37) For God's presence and control we can be thankful and rejoice.

2. Second we can rejoice and be thankful that the Lord is at work in our lives.

a. James l reminds us that through this trial you will grow in your faith as you trust God.
b. As gold is refined and purified by fire so our faith is refined through trials.
c. God wants to make you stronger and increase your faith in Him. He is at work in your lives and for that we can rejoice.

3. Third we can rejoice and be thankful in the knowledge that the souls of these little ones are with God. And He will care for them and bring them back with Him when He comes for us.

4. Finally we can rejoice in the families God has given to us.

a. For the love of husband and wife.
b. For the love and concern of Mom and Dad, brothers and sisters.
c. For the prayers and concern of your church family and friends.
d. You are not going through this alone. We love you and want to carry the burden with you.

1. So we've seen though God's ways are not ours nor His thoughts our thoughts.

2. Yet he offers us:

a. Wisdom instead of confusion.
b. Peace instead of anxiety.
c. As we ask in faith believing.

3. We also saw that our minds are to be occupied not on what might have been, but what is? (i.e. even in times like this we can rejoice and be thankful).

a. That God is with us and in control.
b. That the Lord is at work in your lives.
c. That these little ones are with Christ.
d. That our families and friends want to bear these burdens with you.

4. I thank God (Parent's names) that I see these things already reflected in your lives and I challenge you to continue to go to God in prayer for wisdom and peace, and to spend your time meditating on these things for which we can rejoice and be thankful.

In that it has pleased our heavenly Father, who loaned these little ones to us for this short time, to take them back to Himself, we commit their bodies to the ground. Looking for that blessed hope; when the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

A Child Learns

If a child lives with criticism,
he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
he learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance, and friendship,
he learns to find love in the world.

A Prayer for Fools

There is no fool like a fool,

And there are many in this world of ours.

Many say that we Christians are fools.

For believing someone or something unseen.

But is it foolish to believe that God is there

Watching, serving and providing for us,

Caring for us who are his children?

And there are many in this world of ours

Who believe that money is the be all and end all of life.

There is the fools!

The time of no money is coming,

When all will be equal in the monetary status.

But those who do not believe will perish

And those that believe will endure.

There are those that believe the end of the world is coming

Ah what foolishness!

The time of Christ's coming is near.

Those who accept Him in their lives,

Those who do not sin or who repent of their sins,

Will see the world in its new glory.

For Christ will save his brethren

And we shall be with our Father in Heaven.

There are those who believe that alcohol will cure or help Their woes.

That drugs will help them to see paradise.

I pity them, as Satan has taken them.

Only Satan will take them to their resting place.

A place of torment and fear.

They will not have the pleasure of Gods treasure.

His peace, His love or His safety.

There are those who believe in avenging their wrongs,

Or who believe that fear is the way to gain respect from others.

They believe themselves to be powerful,

But little do they know that a source

More powerful than them,

Have them in his clutches.

But one even more powerful will protect

And take the slain and the innocent,

To the Glorious home in Heaven.

Our God is more powerful than any living or spiritual being.

The time of Satan's demise is at hand.

Our Lord Our God has his end written for all time.

Only God can give you the power to see.

Only God can give you the power to forgive.

Only God can give you the peace you seek.

Only God can see all and be all.

How foolish are those who refuse His majesty.

The biggest fool is Satan,

For believing he has the world in his grasp.

How foolish are those who fall to his temptations

Seek God's favour!

Seek God's love!

And let your days of foolishness end.

Praise be to God

Lord of Heaven and Earth!

Creator of all things on Earth and in Heaven.

Glory to you Lord God!

For I have seen the light.

I have God in my heart,

And Jesus in my body,

And the Holy Spirit in my soul.

My Father, My Brother and My Light.

Glory to you Lord God

For my days of foolishness are at an end.

Remember that ideals
are like stars up in the sky,
You can never really reach them,
hanging in the heavens high....
But like the mighty mariner
who sailed the storm-tossed sea,
And used the stars to chart his course
with skill and certainty,
You too can chart your course in life
with high ideals and love,
For high ideals are like the stars
that light the sky above....
You cannot ever reach them,
but lift your heart up high
And your life will be as shining
as the stars up in the sky.

The Warehouse of Life

Our life is just a Warehouse storing diaries of our life.

He, our Maker, is the Keeper of this Warehouse, so handle it with care,

For this Chronicle will be our evidence when, on that Final Judgement Day,

He has it there before him. I wonder what he will say.

My life has been a mish mash of good and bad alike,

As I trod with faltering footsteps down the stoney pathway of my life.

For years I turned my back on Him in anger and turmoil.

Full of bitterness and hate to those who caused me pain.

My heart is in a torment still eaten with my hate,

How can I ask forgiveness with all this bitterness and distaste?

I know He is forgiving, He proved that on the Cross.

My Lord I do beseech you to wipe my clean slate of life.

Entering Heaven's Gate

Some folks in this day and time,
Say that God has changed - No never!
My God tells us in His Word,
He's the same yesterday, today and forever!

They say there are other ways
To get through Heaven's gate.
I pray that Jesus goes to them
Before it is too late!

It's Gods will that all should know
That for us there is a place.
He wants you to call on Jesus
To find out about His grace!

The saving grace available to all
Who turn away from their sin.
And ask Jesus into their heart
Then they let Him live within.

But Jesus is the only Door
Through which we attain the prize.
Of life forever in the presense of God
In His Heaven beyond the skies!

"God, Are You There?"

"God, Are you there?"
I caught myself saying.
"Can you hear my call?
..and all of my praying?"

These tragedies in life,
Were not at all expected
Please direct me, dear Father
And keep me protected.

Please help me each day
And be near by my side
Lead each turn in life;
My footsteps; please guide.

Let me learn to live more
By what You would have me do
Than think I do the planning
And living as I want to.

I know in my heart
You have all in Your plan
To brighten our lives
I must simply understand.

Please once again, Lord
Bring peace to my soul
Replace frowns with a smile
Reminding me of my ultimate goal.

I fight so desperately
To find peace here each day
Yet knowing true peace
In Heaven does lay.

So Lord, please be with me
And show me the way
To accept hardships and illnesses
Allowing You to lead each day!

Spirit In The Wind

God's Spirit is like the wind,
Where it begins no one knows.
It's here and there and everywhere,
Yet we can't see just where it goes.

The wind through the trees gently blows,
Making the leaves clap their hands in praise!
And the Holy Spirit gently touches those,
Who remember Him throughout their days.

The wind blows on the highest peak,
And sometimes even in the valley low.
But when we feel really down and seek,
God finds us, and in the valley we grow.

When in the valley He hears our prayers,
And He comforts us with such great love!
Then He tells us how much He cares,
And of the glory that awaits us above.

When I'm down and can no longer soar,
Hear me, Lord, and please will You send,
Like so very many other times before,
Your Holy Spirit to me in the wind?

Conditions Apply

How often do we see advertisements that says buy now, pay next year.

It all sounds too good, we get ourselves into first gear.

Then we read on the advertisement ‘conditions apply’

Anger overtakes us, as it seems an outrageous lie.

Have we ever bothered to read what God is promising us?

We find after close examination, there are no stresses and no fuss.

This is what God has promised and is open to everyone.

Before we were born, the contract signed and the deal done.

More importantly, there is no such clause ‘Conditions apply’

With God we do not have to negotiate or buy.

Everyone is accepted regardless of circumstance or a credit check.

We also don’t have to cross the Himalayas on a spiritual trek.

God makes no distinction as he pours out his grace.

There are no hidden clauses; it is freely given regardless of gender and race.

Love To The Church

I love thy kingdom, Lord,
The house of thine abode,
The church our blest Redeemer saved
With his own precious blood.

I love thy church, O God!
Her walls before thee stand,
Dear as the apple of thine eye,
And graven on thy hand.

If e'er to bless thy sons
My voice or hands deny,
These hands let useful skill forsake,
This voice in silence die.

For her my tears shall fall,
For her my prayers ascend;
To her my cares and toils be given
Till toils and cares shall end.

Beyond my highest joy
I prize her heavenly ways,
Her sweet communion, solemn vows,
Her hymns of love and praise.

Jesus, thou friend divine,
Our Saviour and our King,
Thy hand from every snare and foe
Shall great deliverance bring.

Sure as thy truth shall last,
To Zion shall be given
The brightest glories earth can yield,
And brighter bliss of heaven.

Refiner's Fire
A fire in God's furnace blazes,
the heat it emanates amazes;
red-hot flames are dancing; twisted -
no-one can escape; resist it.

Burning high and burning hot
the fire heats God's melting pot;
refining all the reborn souls
over its red and glowing coals.

Melting silver, smelting gold;
removing dross; warming hearts cold,
cleansing us from deep within
removing roots which lead to sin.

Refining those He loves with fire
which burns and burns and never tires;
making us pure; acceptable
to become God's receptacles.

When we have come forth as pure gold
we'll be as those in days of old
who in righteousness did bring
their offerings to Heaven's King.

Are you like a stick of rock
With Jesus through and through
Every single place you go
He's always there with you
Permeates your being
He is your all in all
Brother you are trully blessed
Your'e worthy of the call.
Are you like a granite block
A Christian just by name
Making church your weekly fix
But leaving just the same
It's time for you to let Him
Throw wide your bolted doors
Then He can get to work on you
By dealing with your sores.

Only then can your love grow
As you're refined by fire
You'll depend upon Him more
As you rise from the mire
Thank Him for His patient love
He's had a job with you
With darkness fading into light
You finally have a view.

God's Workmanship
God weaves and molds our lives
according to His master plan.
He designs His own patterns
and shapes us with His hand.

Sometimes God weaves pleasure
and sometimes He weaves pain.
But God has a purpose for it all
And no pattern is quite the same.

God's canvas is hidden from view
until the time of His display.
But the threads He has woven
will be revealed to us someday.

God can see the finished work
as the looms are put in place.
But we must wait and trust Him
and live each day by faith.

We are the Father's workmanship
displayed for the world to see.
As a trophy of His divine grace
to show His glory for all eternity

The Love Of God

All things that are on earth shall wholly pass away,
Except the love of God, which shall live and last for aye.
The forms of men shall be as they had never been;
The blasted groves shall lose their fresh and tender green;
The birds of the thicket shall end their pleasant song,
And the nightingale shall cease to chant the evening long;
The kine of the pasture shall feel the dart that kills,
And all the fair white flocks shall perish from the hills.
The goat and antlered stag, the wolf and the fox,
The wild-boar of the wood, and the chamois of the rocks,
And the strong and fearless bear, in the trodden dust shall lie;
And the dolphin of the sea, and the mighty whale, shall die.
And realms shall be dissolved, and empires be no more,
And they shall bow to death, who ruled from shore to shore;
And the great globe itself, so the holy writings tell,
With the rolling firmament, where the starry armies dwell,
Shall melt with fervent heat--they shall all pass away,
Except the love of God, which shall live and last for aye.

Life situations sometimes can cause so much stress.

The way we react or respond to these is not always the best.

We do not think clearly about the situations.

We are erratic in formulating a solution.

We need to visualize a circle and step outside.

Once outside your rational self will be your guide.

Find a place that will give you peace.

Meditate and focus on a solution that will provide the release.

Anxiety compounds any problem we are forced to face.

If we can diminish the stress we have already won the race.

Be calm and embrace the quiet voice within.

To act irrationally and impulsively is the true definition of sin.

An Open Book

What is life, but an open book?

How it finishes you will need to have a good look.

How do you see yourself a few chapters into the story.

Are you pleased with what you see?

If you let God into your life, the book will be no longer fiction.

With all the main characters there will no longer any friction.

Make your life a fairy story and live happily ever after.

The world will be a fun place, those that were sad will now be full of laughter.

Finish the manuscript of on a Major Chord.

Such experiences cannot be ignored.

God's Evergreen

In God’s Evergreen are the cedars, pines and palms.

These trees are an extension of God’s wonderful arm.

They provide shade all through the year,

They provide shelter when the weather is severe.

God’s evergreen provides us with solace and peace.

They provide us with physical and spiritual release.

People and animals are part of God’s divine evergreen.

We also can extend our arms to those in need.

We can provide shelter and the hungry we can feed.

God’s evergreen never fades during the winter season.

We were created for this very reason.

Be part of the marvels of God’s creation.

Let us be the people of a spiritual nation.

One By One

One by one, ye are passing, beloved,
Out of the shadow into the light.
One by one,
Are your tasks all done.
Ended the toil, and the swift race run.
Child and maiden, mother and sire,
Sister and brother,
Ye follow each other,
Out of the darkness where we stand weeping,
Weary and faint with our virgil-keeping,
Into die summer-land, peaceful and bright!

One by one, ye are passing, beloved,
Out of the darkness round us that lies--
One by one,
Gliding on alone,
Hearing nor heeding our plaint and moan.
Friend and lover, the fondest, best,
Most tender and true,
Ye pass from our view,
Out of the night that enfolds us ever,
Out of the mists where we moan and shiver;
Into the joy-light of sunniest skies!

One by one, we are hasting, beloved,
Out of the midnight into the day.
One by one,
Are our tasks all done,
And the race that is set us with swift feet run.
Loved and parted ones, still our own,
Nearing you ever
We press toward the river.
Over whose waters ye passed on before us,
Shortly to join in your rapturous chorus,
And swell the hosannas of Heaven for aye!

One by one, ye are greeting, beloved,
Those whom you left for a while in tears.
One by one
Is the bright goal won
By those ye lost sight of at set of sun.
Child and maiden, mother and sire,
Sister and brother,
Ye're greeting each other,
Up where the holy ones round you are singing,
Up where the new song of Heaven is ringing,

A Riddle

What can stop the wind from blowing
where it wants to blow,
what can stop my heart from going
where it wants to go?
What can stop my loving you
forever and a day,
what can take God from my heart
and force me not to pray?

What is more than Jesus' love,
more awesome than His grace,
what is better than His joy
and what can take His place?
What if man were left alone
to save his sorry soul,
what could mankind do or say
to stop sin's final toll?

What's more vile than Satan's plan
to kill, steal and destroy,
what's more wicked than his dreams
for every girl and boy?
What could stop him triumphing
if Jesus turned His back,
what could block the devil's path
and thwart his next attack?

What do rich folks need more of
and don't have some to spare,
what do poor have plenty of,
in fact, more than their share?
And what, if stacked from end-to-end
could reach up to the sky,
and yet, if you ate all there was
then you would surely die!

The answer to this riddle,
as by now you may have guessed,
is worthy of our worrying
until we're quite obsessed...
It's what I'll make by writing this,
how much these words will bring:
it's Nothing, Nada, Zero, Zilch!
that's right ~ Not anything!!

"Ah, Lord GOD! behold, Thou has made
the heaven and the earth
by Thy great power and stretched out arm,
and there is NOTHING too hard for Thee:
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands,
and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers
into the bosom of their children after them:
the Great, the Mighty God,
the LORD of hosts, is His name."

The Call Of The Christian

Not always as the whirlwind's rush
On Horeb's mount of fear,
Not always as the burning bush
To Midian's shepherd seer,
Nor as the awful voice which came
To Israel's prophet bards,
Nor as the tongues of cloven flame,
Nor gift of fearful words,--

Not always thus, with outward sign
Of fire or voice from Heaven,
The message of a truth divine,
The call of God is given!
Awaking in the human heart
Love for the true and right,--
Zeal for the Christian's better part,
Strength for the Christian's fight.

Nor unto manhood's heart alone
The holy influence steals
Warm with a rapture not its own,
The heart of woman feels!
As she who by Samaria's wall
The Saviour's errand sought,--
As those who with the fervent Paul
And meek Aquila wrought:

Or those meek ones whose martyrdom
Rome's gathered grandeur saw
Or those who in their Alpine home
Braved the Crusader's war,
When the green Vaudois, trembling, heard,
Through all its vales of death,
The martyr's song of triumph poured
From woman's failing breath.

And gently, by a thousand things
Which o'er our spirits pass,
Like breezes o'er the harp's fine strings,
Or vapors o'er a glass,
Leaving their token strange and new
Of music or of shade,
The summons to the right and true
And merciful is made.

Oh, then, if gleams of truth and light
Flash o'er thy waiting mind,
Unfolding to thy mental sight
The wants of human-kind;
If, brooding over human grief,
The earnest wish is known
To soothe and gladden with relief
An anguish not thine own;

Though heralded with naught of fear,
Or outward sign or show;
Though only to the inward ear
It whispers soft and low;
Though dropping, as the manna fell,
Unseen, yet from above,
Noiseless as dew-fall, heed it well,---
Thy Father's call of love!

Seal of Approval
I may fancy myself a poet,
But I know that I'm not the best;
For I'm not a Helen Steiner Rice
Or the equal of Edgar Guest . . .

But I write down the words He gives me,
And I ask Him before I start
To please bless all my stumbling efforts,
To please speak to a listening heart.

I don't care much for fame and fortune,
I don't care for the world's reward;
I don't want to be rich and famous,
What I want is to please my Lord.

Let the others seek pomp and grandeur,
The whole world and its gold I'd shun;
It's success AFTER death, I'm after,
Just these two words from Him: "Well done!"

Reflections on Being American

This is a free country
Or so the experts say,
The rest of the world has problems
but not the U.S.A.!

We go to work and earn our pay
To buy the things we need,
And every dime we earn is ours-
That's not what they really say.

The IRS puts out its hand,
The state and the counties too,
You have to pay to run them all;
All this is nothing new.

The homeless people line our streets
And sleep in parks and doorways,
Hate crimes abound, and children starve,
And smog hangs o'er our freeways.

We curse our problems in this beautiful land
Where we've chopped down many a tree,
But with all the downside we have made,
There's no place else we would rather be.

For this is home in the deepest sense,
From the plains to the ocean bar,
Each tree and hill and mountaintop
Is a facet of who we are.

Faith As A Grain Of Mustard-Seed

The Twelve to Christ, their Master, cry'd,
"Increase our faith!" The Lord reply'd,
If you had lively faith, indeed,
But as a grain of mustard-seed,
You might this sycomore command
To grow by sea and quit the land.
But whatsoe'er by faith is known,
Or done by works, is God's alone.
For which of you shall have a hand,
That plows and fodders at command;
And to him thus anon shall say,
Loos'd from the labour of the day,
"Go, get thee in, and take thy mess";
And shall not rather thus address,
"Make ready that on which I sup,
And gird thyself, and bring it up;
And when thou'st serv'd my bowl and meat,
Then likewise thou shalt drink and eat."--
What are the Master's thanks conferr'd
On him, who thus obey'd His word?
Not they, I trow--So likewise you,
That done you were enjoin'd to do,
Shall better with submission own
Before your Master's aweful throne,
"Our duty is but barely paid,
And 'twas by force that we obey'd;
And all our services are vain
In which are neither grace nor gain."

As seeds planted are (Carefully, plentifully)
In soil well-prepared, (Fertilized, organized)
Awaiting rain and sun, (Equally, generously)
Sprouting soon does come, (Fairly, squarely)

Grow toward maturity. (By attending, defending)
Banish bugs and weeds, (Engaging, with raging)
Giving plants all room (To nourish and flourish)
Accommodates full bloom (Production function)

So planted in the heart (Readily, steadily)
Are fine ‘seeds’ set apart (Caressing, Blessing)
To mature, reproduce. (Protected, unmolested)
Beware so none get loose. (Willing, fulfilling.)

A New Day

This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as I will.

I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is important, because
I'm exchanging a day of my life for it.

When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever,
leaving something I have traded for it.
I want it to be gain, not loss;
good, not evil; success, not failure;
in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it

Just one life 'twill soon be past
only what's done for Christ will last.

Don't waste precious time
worrying about what you should have done...
But rather, focus your attention
on what you are doing now,
and what you want to do in the future
Don't concentrate on any mistakes that might
have been made, but learn from them.
