Dorothy Campbell, 79, of New Tazewell, Tennessee, passed away Thursday (October 15, 2009) at the Claiborne County Hospital in Tazewell, Tennessee.
She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Retha Campbell; three sons, Jackie Lee Smith, John Henry Smith, and Ronald Charles Dillman; three grandsons, Freddie Collins, Shane Miracle, and Bart McDeek; and two brothers.

Gary W. Robinson, SR., 62, of Ewing, passed away at his home on Monday, October 19th. He lived most of his life in Lee County, and was a member of Gibson Station Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Morrison “Copper” Robinson; infant daughter, Latisha Dawn Robinson.

Dryden, VA Daniel Lee Caudill,was born in Dryden, VA on September 23, 1963, went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2009 at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ashford Caudill, paternal grandparents, Enoch and Clara Caudill. Maternal granparents, Murphy and Hester Delph, one sister, Brenda Caudill Dearry, one brother Johnny Wayne Caudill, one niece, Laura Lee Dearry and one nephew, Adam Paul Caudill.

Daniel is survived by his mother, Maxie Slemp of the home. 3 sisters, Patricia Hendricks and husband Michael of St. Charles, VA. Joyce Maness and husband Shef of Dryden, VA, Caroline Langley and husband Leslie of Jonesville, VA. 3 brothers, Dallas Caudill and wife Joyce, Glen Dearry and wife Tina, all of Dryden, Va. Jack Dearry and wife Nicole of Pennington Gap, VA.

Arnold Fayne McCauley, 75, of Jonesville, Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2009.

He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. He thought of no one as a stranger.

He was a retired coal miner from West Moreland Coal Company and owner/operator of McCauley Lime Spreading Company. He was also an Air Force veteran. He served in the Reserves for eight years. He was a proud member of Friendship Baptist Church of Jonesville, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, B.D. (Doc) McCauley and Lillie J. (Yates) McCauley.

Surviving are:

Daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and James (Buddy) Green of Dallas, Texas

Son and daughter-in-law: Joe and Janet McCauley of Seymour, Tennessee

Jeffrey Wayne Ramey was born here in St.Charles, Va. on Wednesday, June 2, 1956 and departed this life on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va. at the age of 53 years. He was preceded in death by his father, ODell Ramey and mother, Nell Tester Maddle.

Jeff has lived in St. Charles, Va. his entire life and was a disabled coal miner, a veteran of the US Army, having served with the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Rose of the home, two sons, Jeff Ramey, Jr. and wife Christy of Hackett, Ark. and L???? Jeffery Ramey of the home. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Aaron and Brianna Ramey, both of Hackett, Ark. 4 brothers, Mike Ramey, Jamie and Jerry Lee Maddle, both of St. Charles, Va. and Sonny Maddle of Pennington Gap, Va. 3 sisters, Martha Jessee and Shannon Maddle, both of St. Charles, Va. and Jackie Cantrell of Wise, Va. also, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday in the Sanctuary of the province funeral home in Pennington Gap, Va. with Rev. Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 until time of the service Tuesday. Burial will be private.

Flossie Moore of the Wallens Creek Community was born on Monday, February 24th 1930 in Rose Hill, VA. and passed away on Saturday, October 24th, 2009 at Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, VA. after an extended illness at the age of 79 years. She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Lee County. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Dolly Dean; one daughter, Jerlene Moore; one son, Clifford Moore; five sisters, Roxie, Shirley, Mary, Elvie and Zelma; three brothers, Albert, Nathan and John; three grandchildren, Jason Moore, Little Clyde Moore, Jr. and Ralph Moore, Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Vanessa Kimberlin.Flossie is survived by her husband, Hillary Moore of Jonesville; three sons, Ralph Moore of the home, Floyd Junior Moore and Clyde Moore both of Jonesville; four daughters, Nancy Kimberlin and Barbara Watson both of Jonesville, Brenda Rogers of Kingsport, TN. and Alma Wells of Gate City, VA.; two brothers, Alford Dean and Chester Dean; one sister, Deborah Fee; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

William Shadrick Wilder, age 28, was born on Tuesday, December 9th 1980 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and passed away on October 23rd, 2009 near Jonesville, Virginia from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Shad was of the Baptist faith and a lifelong resident of Lee County. He was a member of the Southern Brothers Motorcycle Club and worked as a tree trimmer. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers George Hugh Wilder and Vilas Eldridge.

Beverly Sue Cole of Jonesville, Va was born in the Flatwoods Community of Lee County, Va on Friday July 11, 1941 and passed away at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tn on Tuesday October 27, 2009 at the age of 68 years. She was retired from Newspaper Publishing in Silver Springs, Md and had lived in Lee County the past 5 years.

Beverly was a member of the Flatwoods Methodist church from her early years. She is Proceeded in death by her parents Thurman and Estell Taylor Hounshell. Three Brothers Roy, Eugene and Bill Hounshell. She is survived by her Husband Elza Cole of the home. Two sons Richard and wife Linda Cole of Mt. Airy, Md. Ronnie and wife Glenda Cole of Frederick, Md. One daughter Brenda Cole Stangeland and husband Scott of Harpers Ferry, WV. Two brothers, Twin Brother Banard Hounshell and wife Gloria, Wayne Hounshell and wife Alice both of Jonesville, Va. Two sisters, Wilma Barefoot and husband Russell of Mt. Airy, Md. He was a retired transportation coordinator with the Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Maryland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #116 of Towson, Maryland and Tall Cedars Scottish Rites.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mamie Gruebel and one sister, Carolyn Bink.

Pennington Gap, VA Harold L. (Little Joe) Parsons age 89 passed away early Saturday morning, October 31, 2009 in Lee Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident, the son of the late Joe and Mae Litton Parsons. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII and was the recipient of the Purple Heart while serving in the European Theatre. Harold was an automobile mechanic, employed by Gibsons Tire for many years and later Ikey Joes Tire Co.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jewell Quillen Parsons of the home, One son, Michael and wife Kathy Parsons of Pennington Gap, VA.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Lee Nursing and Rehab for their excellant care since 2006.

Calling hours will be 6 until 8:00 P.M on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Sturgill Funeral Home with funeral services immediatly following with Rev. Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.

Herman worked in construction and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Buster and Mildred Jean Moore Mullins; two sisters, Doris Turner and Irene Carlson; and one brother, Charlie Mullins.

William David was preceded in death by his parents William Franklin and Bessie Roberts Taylor, three sisters Ruby Taylor, Mary Oliver and Ethel Collier. He is survived by one brother Roy Taylor of Middleton, Oh. and three sisters Gracie Smallwood of Jonesville, Va., Ida Blanton of Jonesville, Va. and Geneva Wynn of Maynards, TN.

Richard C. (Rick) Presley, age 51 of Farragut,TN and formerly of Jonesville, VA passed away on the morning of November 2, 2009 after a brief battle with a rare blood disease.

Rick loved his family, work, and serving God with the gifts he had been given in music. He was a member of Two Rivers Church.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Avery Presley.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughters, Rachel, Jessica, and Andrea; son, Jon Parker; son-in-law, Brian Strutz; mother, Edith Presley; sisters, Rebecca Sumpter, Lavona Gray, and Brenda Horne; brothers, Jerry and Larry Presley; several nieces and nephews and many very special friends.

We will celebrate his wonderful life Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Two Rivers Church with Pastor Brad Brinson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Willie Lawson Beaty, 99, of Jonesville, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (October 3, 2009) at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center in Church Hill, Tennessee.

A lifelong resident of Lee County, Virginia, she was a member of Morgan Memorial United Methodist Church, the Women’s Missionary Union, and the Rose Hill Homemakers Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel McDonald Beaty; her parents, Henry and Addie Lawson; and a daughter, Anna Marie Chance.

Surviving are:

Two sons: Billy Sam Beaty and wife, Sue of Ewing, Virginia and Donald L. Beaty of London, Kentucky

Two daughters: Helen B. Holt and husband, Lowry of Maryville, Tennessee and Jan Rose Edds of Jonesville, Virginia

Reba Owens of Ewing, Va. was born in Lee County, Va. on Tuesday, April 7, 1925 and passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va. at the age of 84 years. She had lived in Lee County most of her life.

Reba was a homemaker and of the Baptist Belief. She was preceded in death by her first husband Theodore Fultz, second husband William Ed Owens, her parents Charlie and Virgie Cleusman and one brother Edgar Cleusman.

Reba is survived by one son J.P. Fultz of Ewing, Va., one daughter Belinda Owens of Ewing, Va. and one sister Wilma Jean Pennington and husband, Dunn of Woodway, Va.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Penningotn Gap, Va. with Rev. Jim Blevins officiating.

Entombment will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va.

Terry Diffenderfer of Bristol, Va. was born in Jonesville, Va. on Thursday, July 16, 1936 and passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Bristol Nursing Home at the age 73 years. He had been a resident of Bristol, Va. for the past 41 years.

Terry retired as a cook and manager of a Deli and was of the Holiness Faith. He was preceded in death by by two sons, Terry Bruce, Jr. and Terry Allen, and his parents Curtis and Maggie Carroll Diffenderfer.

Born July 31, 1952 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, he was the son of Emerson W. and Irene Hargraves.

Donald Lee Scott of Pennington Gap, Va. was born in the Monarch Community, Rt. 1 Saint Charles, Va. on Friday, July 23, 1948 and passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Scott.

Don served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Charles, Va. He was a Member of the UMW of A and was employed by Westmoreland Coal Co. for 25 years, Quebecor Printing for 8 years and for the past 6 years was employed as E911 Director and Emergency Coordinator for Lee County. He was a volunteer fire fighter of Pennington Gap and Lee County rescue squad for over 35 years.

Don is survived by his wife Yetta Kirk Scott of the home. Three sons; Christopher Scott of Pennington Gap, Va. Patrick Scott of Pennington Gap, Va. and Devin Scott of the home. One daughter, Rebecca Hope Scott Sweeney of Capron, Va. Three grandchildren, Daniel, Amber and Whitney Sweeney of Dot, Va. His mother, Vern Scott of Monarch, Va. Two sisters, Faye Mayes of St. Charles, Va. Rebecca Hale and husband Dick of Indianapolis, Ind. One brother, Kenneth Scott and wife Beverly of Kingsport, Tn. Herman Hensley, 74, of Alanthus Hill Community passed away at home on November 7, 2009. He went to be with his Heavenly Father. He was a member of White Shoal’s Baptist Church. He worked as a welder at Avco New Idea in Coldwater, OH, England Furniture & Manufacturing in Tazewell, TN for ten years, and 11 years Whaley & Sons in Kodak, TN.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Gulley Hensley; and parents, Clarence & Carrie Overton Hensley; son, Brian Hensley; brother, Porter Hensley.

Pauline Crusenberry of Kingsport, TN. was born in the Bonny Blue Community of St. Charles, Va. on Thursday, March 7, 1918 and passed away at the Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the age of 91 years.

She had lived in St. Charles most of her life. Pauline had been a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Everett Crusenberry, grandson Roby Buchanan, sisters Blanche Fleenor, Flora Thorp, Bessie Thorp, Sophia Kallam, Cornett Absher and Mable Absher and son-in-law Arnold Ford and daughter-in-law Rebecca Crusenberry.

Pauline is survived by two sons Sherman Crusenberry and wife, Karen of Noblesville, In. and Herman Crusenberry of Duffield, Va. and four daughters Wanda Buchanan and husband, Gary of St. Charles, Va., Janet Ford of Kingsport, TN., Loretta Bains and husband, Marvin of Mooresville, In. and Linda Seabolt and husband, Jerry of Noblesville, In. and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A lifelong resident of Lee County, he was a World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

Dewey Ray Roark, 68, of Ewing, Virginia, died Thursday (November 19, 2009) at his residence after a long time illness.

Mr. Roark was a veteran of the United States Army and was a drywall finisher for 37 years, from which he retired.

He was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elisha and Frances Roark; brother, James H. Roark; and two sisters, Betty Joe Roark and Debbie Eldridge.
