Judge Harry Parks Rowlett
(July 1, 1927 - September 30, 2010)

Judge Harry Parks Rowlett, age 83, of Jonesville, Virginia, died Wednesday (September 29, 2010) at his home.

He was born July 1, 1927 in Ewing, Virginia, the son of William F. and Birdie Parks Rowlett. He attended elementary school in Ewing, high school at Washington College Academy in Limestone Tennessee, did undergraduate work at Lincoln Memorial University, and graduated from the University of Tennessee Law School with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Judge Rowlett was a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association, and the Tennessee State Bar.

Judge Rowlett has been a resident of Jonesville, Virginia for the past sixty years. He practices law in Jonesville from 1950 to 1970, served as Commonwealth’s Attorney of Lee County from 1956 to 1960, and was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration in 1970, where he served until his retirement in 1998. He opened the Office of Hearings and Appeals in Kingsport, Tennessee in 1972 and served as the Chief Judge of that office and of the Middlesboro, Kentucky office.

Judge Rowlett has been associated with Lee Bank and Trust Company since 1968, where he served as Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer. He retired from active management in 2002 and was serving at the time of his death as Senior Executive Officer in an advisory capacity and as General Council.

Judge Rowlett served in the United States Navy during World War II and has been a member of the American Legion for the past 60 years. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesville, Virginia.
Judge Rowlett was preceded in death by his son, Steven Rowlett; his brothers, Ancil Rowlette and Clyde Rowlett; and his sister, Willa Mae Rowlett Cridlin.

He is survived by:

His son: Jeffrey Rowlett and wife, Valerie

His granddaughter: Stephanie Rowlett Dourado

His daughter-in-law: Josephine Roddenberry and husband, Ken

His sister: Thelma Rowlett Carter

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville, Virginia.

Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Virginia immediately following the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Steven Rowlett Memorial Library Fund at the First United Methodist Church in Pennington Gap, Virginia, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Elder Alvis (Buster) Lester of Jonesville, Va. was born in Bradshaw, WV on Saturday, June 26, 1915 and went to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va. at the age of 95 years. He had been a resident of Twin Branch, WV in McDowell County until he moved to Lee County in 1996.

Alvis retired as a coal miner, was a member of the UMW of A and a member of the Cane Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Fletcher Lester, parents, John Henry and Virgie Ellen Kennedy Lester, one son, William Jefferson (Bill) Lester, daughters, Rachel Gertrude Payne, Beulah Faye (Cootie) Akers, Goldie Sue Adkins and Vera Hope Lambert and his sisters, Martha Mullins, Lydia Thompson, and Juanita Lester.

Alvis is survived by three daughters, Louise (Lester) Carver of Jonesville, Va., Evelyn Rowe and husband, James (Aut) Rowe of Hampton, Ga. and Audrey Pearl (Lester) Collins of Caples, WV, thirty grandchildren and a special granddaughter Roberta Gibbons, forty four great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by one brother, Lonnie (Alonzo) Lester and wife, Alma of Dublin, Va. and five sisters, Kizzie Rose of Davy, WV, Ruby Marshall of Welch, WV, Rinda Mullins of Ballard, WV, Catherine Lane of Pool, WV and Virginia (Cricket) Carder of Pulaski, Va. and one adopted grandson, Thomas M. (Danny) Lesters and wife, Patti of Bluefield, WV.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Jonesville, Va.

Out of town funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Twin Branch Pentecostal Church of God in Twin Branch, WV, with Roger Rowe, Wayne Scott and Russell Justice officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Monday until the time of the service.

Mary S. Thacker of Dryden, Va. was born in Blackwood, Va. in Wise County and passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home in Duffield, Va. at the age of 94 years. She had been a resident of Lee County, Va for the past 50 years and had been a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Thacker and her brothers and sisters.

Mary is survived by one son, John Glen Thacker of Dryden, Va., five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Josie Thacker of Lebanon, Va. and fourteen nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. with Rev. Jim Ewing officiating.

The family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 for the service.

Hubert F. Chadwell
(September 12, 1943 - October 1, 2010)

Hubert F. Chadwell, 67, of Fishers, Indiana and formerly of Lee County, Virginia, passed away Friday (October 1, 2010).

He was born September 12, 1943 to Hubert & Nellie (Willis) Chadwell.

Mr. Chadwell was the owner of Chadwell Trucking for 30 years, then service manager for Day & Night Transportation and most recently he worked for the Transportation Department of Noblesville Schools. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the recipient of the Purple Heart.

Hubert is survived by:

Four sons: William Michael Chadwell, Hubert Andrew Chadwell, Hubert Dowell Chadwell, and Douglas Shawn Chadwell

Two daughters: Christina Marie Chadwell and Pamela Sue Chadwell

One brother: James T. Chadwell

Anna Belle Kolb

Anna Kolb, 67, of Jonesville, Virginia, passed away Sunday (October 3, 2010) at her residence.

Anna was a caring mother and a loving grandmother who loved her grandkids. She was a homemaker.

Anna was born June 17, 1943 in Lee County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Luther Carroll and Willie Mae Allen Carroll.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl (Bud) Kolb; sister, Thelma Johnston; and daughter, Tina Knutson.

Surviving are:

Two sons: Kenneth W. Kolb and wife, Arnetia of Jonesville, Virginia and Robert E. Kolb and wife, Tammy of Bluefield, West Virginia

One daughter: Linda Sudduth and husband, Donald of Leesburg, Virginia

Essie Young of Woodway, Va. was born in Stickleyville, Va. on Friday, January 20, 1928 and passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va. at the age of 82 years. He had been a resident of Lee County most of his life.

Essie retired from the U.S. Government Civil Service was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wellington and Laura Harless Young, one brother, Hubert Young, one half-sister, Bobbie Spivey and one step-daughter, Tammy Ann Day.

Essie is survived by his loving wife, Betty Gilbert Young of Woodway, Va., three sons, Jason Young of Kentucky, Doug Young of Oklahoma and Fred Young of Ohio, one daughter, Sheryl Barnes of Ohio and step-daughter, Kathy Standifer and husband, John of Jonesville, Va. He is also survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one brother Harold Young and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, Va. with Mike Sprinkle officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Thursday until the time of the service.

The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va.

The family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM Friday to go to the cemetery.

Rogan Dingus

Rogan Dingus, 72, of Jonesville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (October 6, 2010) at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rosa Dingus; five brothers; and five sisters.

Surviving are:

Six daughters: Kim Fatony of Jacksonville, Florida; Sheri Caudill of Jonesville, Virginia; Laneka Lodico of Coeburn, Virginia; Erica Dingus of Jonesville, Virginia; Julianne Dingus of Jonesville, Virginia; and Denesia Blanken of Jonesville, Virginia

Seven grandchildren: Amber, Breanna, Elisha, Katelyn, Brian, Adrielle, and Cecily

Willard Garret of Pennington Gap, Va. was born in Pucketts Creek on Wednesday, August 24, 1955 and passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 after a brief illness. He had lived in Lee County, Va. his entire life.

Willard was a retired disabled coal miner for the Westmoreland Coal Co. was a member of the UMWA and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny H. Garrett and one brother, Johnny Wayne Garrett.

Willard is survived by his mother, Martha Garrett Ricker of Pennington Gap, Va., twin daughters, Amy Garrett Carter and husband, Tim of Jonesville, Va. and Amanda Garrett of Big Stone Gap, Va., two grandchildren, Dylan Laster and Dalton Carter, two sisters, Evelyn Miller of Noblesville, In. and Betty Kimberlin of Pennington Gap, Va. and a special friend, Nan Belcher of Big Stone Gap, Va.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, Va. with Dr. Kenneth Ellis officiating.

Burial will follow at the Millers Chapel Cemetery in Jonesville, Va.

Glen Parsons, of Tazewell, Tn./St. Charles, Va. was born in Jonesville, Va. on Saturday, April 13, 1940 and had made his home for the past four and a half years at the Laurel Manor Nursing Home in Tazewell, Tn. where he passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the age of 70 years.

Glen worked for the town of Pennington Gap, Va. before his health forced him to retire. He had also worked as a pipe layer for the Kentucky-Virginia Stone Quarry in Ewing, Va.

Glen is survived by his wife, Joyce Parsons of St. Charles, Va. three sons, Glen (Eddie) Parsons and wife, Connie of St. Charles, Va., Darrell (Jelly) Parsons and wife, Jennifer of Jonesville, Va., Randy (Possum) Parsons of Jonesville, Va. six grandchildren, Dwayne & Melody of Blackwater, Shyrl and Tony Alsup of Martinsville, Ind.,Eric of St. Charles. Va., Michael of Jonesville, Va., Ashley Parsons of Jonesville and Justin Parsons of Jonesville, Va.

Glen is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Alex, Cortney and Conner Alsup, Joshua and Jacob of Jonesville, Va. and two step great-grandchildren, Daniel Banks and Chad Hill.

Glen is also survived by one brother, J.C. Parsons of Pennington Gap, Va.., two sisters, Betty Doyle and husband J.B. of Jonesville, Va., Wanda Sue Hedden of Lafayette, Ind. and many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Clarence and Margaret Parsons, had lived his entire life in Lee Co. and attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

The funeral will be held at 8:00 PM Saturday in the Sanctuary of the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va. with Rev. George Flanary officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Saturday until time of the service. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Sunday at Lee Memorial Gardens.

Patty L. Hunley, 73, of Ewing and formerly of Fairfield, OH passed away Friday, October 8 at her home.

She graduated Thomas Walker High School.

She retired from Mosler Safe Co. in Ohio

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Flora Ketron; special father, Dow Hensley; brothers, Elmer Rice, Odell Rice Curtis Rice & Billy Joe Rice; and sister, Lola Fee.

Marguerite Hall
(August 4, 1927 - October 8, 2010)

Woodway, VA Marguerite Hammonds Hall, age 83 of the Woodway Community passed away Friday morning at her residence. Marguerite was a lifelong resident of Woodway, the daughter of the late J.A. and Rose Dillon Bellamy. She was a graduate of Pennington High School and was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and became an Elementary School 7th grade teacher retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Woodway. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, J. R. Hammonds in 1962. By a sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Pete Haynes. Survivors include, her husband, Jack E. Hall, Woodway, VA; one son, Randy Hammonds and wife Joyce of Villa Hills, KY. One daughter, Ginger Lambert, Duffield, VA. one grandson, Dustin Lambert, one step son, Jeffery Alan Hall, Big Stone Gap, VA, One brother, Foister Bellamy, Ocoee, FL. Several neices and nephews . Special caregivers, Brenda Allen, Cecelia Haynes, and Parilee Crumley.

Calling hours will be 6 until 8:00 P. M. Saturday at Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Sunday in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Woodway with Rev. Rusty Fitzpatrick and Tom Williams officiating. Special music will be provided by Mike Mooney.

Interment will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hall will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.

Clarinda Alvenia Arnold Livesey age 76,of Clinton, TN went to be with the Lord, October 6, 2010. She was born in Esserville, VA. the daughter of the late Talmadge and Verna Hubbard Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. She was a loving and loved wife , mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Survived by her loving family, C. Frank Livesey; daughter, Sherry Zumbro, and husband William, Deborah Matthews and husband Rich, son Richard Douglas,numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sisters, Lois Barnette, Wilma Highwarden, and brother, Robert Arnold and wife Irene. A lady, wife and parent who will be sorely missed.

David Maness, 64, of Marion, Virginia and formerly of Rose Hill, Virginia, passed away Monday (October 11, 2010) in Bristol, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hattie Lee Maness; one brother, Kyle Maness; and two sisters, Dana Hill and Clara Collier.

Richard "Richie" Pitt
(August 17, 1966 - October 10, 2010)

Richard William Pitt “Richie”, 44, of Jonesville passed away peacefully October 10, 2010.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving three tours, and being a part of the Panama Conflict in 1989.

He was employed by the United States Penitentiary Lee serving as Special Investigative Agent. Richard had a total of nineteen years of government service.

Helen Kinser of the Russels Chapel Community in Jonesville, Va. was born in the Briar Ridge Community of St. Charles, Va. on Saturday, February 15, 1941 and passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN at the age of 69 years.

Helen was a homemaker and attended the Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry and Emma Jones, one sister, Wilma Jean Jones and one nephew, Charles H. Jones.

Helen is survived by her husband, Dewey Kinser of the home, two sons, Joe Kinser and wife, Laura of Jonesville, Va. and Adam Kinser of the home, one daughter, Cornelia Davis of Jonesville, Va., six grandchildren, Joseph Kinser and special friend, Bobbi Haynes, Ashley Kinser, Katlyn Kinser, Clay Davis, Emily Davis and Zachary Kinser and one great-grandchild, Isabella Kinser.

Helen is also survived by four brothers, Carl Jones, Golvin Jones and R.H. Jones all of Pennington Gap, Va. and Charles Jones of Jonesville, Va., one sister, Sue Jones of Pennington Gap, Va. and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, Va. with Rev. David Jones and Rev. Jim Ewing officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Thursday until the time of the service.

The graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. the family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 Friday to go to the cemetery.

Benny Ray Wyatt, a resident of Pennington Gap, Va. was born in Jonesville, Va. on Thursday, November 22, 1945 and passed away at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tn. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the age of 64 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arley and Eula Gray Wilder Wyatt and an infant brother, Bobby Doyle Wyatt. He was a retired farmer, had lived most of his life in Lee Co. and was of the Protestant faith.

Benny is survived by two brothers, Roy Lee Wyatt of Big Stone Gap, Va. and Joe Wyatt of Pennington Gap, Va. He is also survived by five sisters, Mary Wynn, Sue Poteet and Doris Noe, all of Jonesville, Va., Nettie Mae Barnett of Blackwater, Va. and Judy Garrett of Pennington Gap, Va. and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the Bledsoe Cemetery on Wallens Creek with Pastor Dave Coryell officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM then proceed to the cemetery for the graveside service.

Jeanette Williams Anderson, 90, of Jonesville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (October 20, 2010) at the Wellmont Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Virginia.

A lifelong resident of Lee County, Virginia, she was a member of Millers Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Anderson; her parents, William and Ollie Eagle Williams; one son, Emmitt W. Anderson; one daughter, Jewell Hall; four brothers, Bob, George, Joe, and Pete Williams; one sister, Josie Fisher; and one grandson, Pat Harvel.

Surviving are:

One son: Bill Anderson and wife, Theresa “Tinker” of Jonesville, Virginia

Roger Dale Scott, Sr. of the Maness Community was born in Knox County, Ky. on Friday, April 6, 1956 and passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN at the age of 54 years. He had lived in Lee County, Va. most of his life.

Roger had been a coal miner and a member of the St. Charles First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Lillie Scott.

Kenneth “Sonny” Jones of Old Woodway Rd. in Dryden, Va. was born in Kemmer Gem Community of St. Charles, Va. on Thursday, January 2, 1947 and passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at his residence at the age of 63 years. He had been a resident of Lee County, Va. his most of his life.

Kenneth was a retired Launderer with Lee Regional Medical Center and attended the Pentecostal Church at Pucketts Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luster Jones, Sr. and Georgia Jessee Jones, two sisters, Wanda Jean Jones and Claretta Davis and one brother, Luster Jones, Jr.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Vicki Jones of the home and granddaughter, Jasmine Shoemaker also of the home, one son, Timothy Jones and wife, Tammy of Sneedville, TN, two daughters, Thomasena Scott of Pennington Gap, Va. and Jessica Parsons of Dryden, Va., nine grandchildren, two brothers, David Jones of Wise, Va. and Nathan Jones and wife, Linda of Appalachia, Va. and three sisters, Jeanette Connors of Campbellville, Ky., Ethel Story of Noblesville, In. and Flo Green and husband, Mike of Pennington Gap, Va.

John Haynes, age 80, a resident of the Hickory Flats community was born Saturday, April 12, 1930 and went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 19, 2010.

John proudly served over 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in October 1970 as Master Sgt. after serving in combat in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for 24 years. He was a master carpenter, brick layer and a dedicated, hard worker at all that he did.

John loved participating in all sporting activities and excelled at softball, golf, bowling, horseshoes, badminton, volleyball, water skiing and anything else that he could play. Above all he was an honest, fun-loving, yet tough competitor.

John and Reba made many, many friends scattered across this world. He loved children, especially his grandchildren and had an amazing gift of compassion for all children. Many have benefited from his labor and caring attitude.

John will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son, John Richard, his parents, Isom and Oma Haynes, two brothers, Pete (Forester) and Robert Haynes, three sisters, Hester Worsham, Jan Ladd and Mamique Haynes.

John is survived by his wife and soul mate of 57 years, Reba J. Martin Haynes; two devoted daughters, Dr. Vicki H. Audia and husband, Mark of Mills River, NC; Teresa H. Scalf and husband, Ron of Telford, TN; one loving son, John Douglas Haynes of Boynton Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Kellye E. Gruber of Knoxville, TN; Tracey J. Sizemore, and husband, Christopher of Powell TN; Robert and Amanda Haynes and Austin Schwab of Boynton Beach, FL; one great-granddaughter, Sheala Haynes; one brother, Bud (Elmer) Haynes of Hickory Flats, VA; three sisters, Hazel Holbrook of San Francisco, CA, Virginia Stapleton of Lewisburt, OH, Ann Haynes of Ormond Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews.

Maude Snodgrass, 84, of Jonesville, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 at Lee Health and Rehab Center in Pennington Gap, Virginia.

A lifelong resident of Lee County, Virginia, she was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She was a seamstress and homemaker and worked at Spic n Span Dry Cleaners for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Snodgrass; step-son, Johnny E. Snodgrass; her parents, John E. and Emma Carroll; two sisters, Dora Thomas and Lillie Mae Cornwell; and two brothers, Eugene Carroll and Richard Carroll.

Surviving are:

One daughter: Marie Speck and husband, Charlie of Jonesville, Virginia

Five grandchildren: Randy Speck, Renae Speck, Johnnye Duff, Steve Snodgrass, and Leah Herring

Sgt. Gary Shackleford of the Big Hill Community in Pennington Gap, Va. was born in Dayton, Oh. on Saturday, January 4, 1949 and passed away suddenly at the Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va. at the age of 61 years. He had been a resident of Lee County most of his life.

Gary was an employee with the Pennington Gap Police Department for 19 years and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Beulah Shackleford and several uncles.

Gary is survived by his wife, Donna Shackleford of the home, two daughters, Crystal Clinebell and husband, Bryan of Poor Valley and Shannon Barnette and husband, Tony of Big Hill, two grandsons, Codie Garrett and Bryan Clinebell, Jr., one brother, Jim Shackleford and wife, Diane of Englewood, Oh. and one niece, several cousins and many, many friends.

Richard (Ricky) Ingram age 12 of Jonesville, Va., was born in Wise County, Va. on Thursday, April 23, 1998 and passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Jonesville, Va. and a student at the Jonesville Middle School.

Ricky enjoyed fishing, four wheeling and playing football and was a member of the Jonesville Pennington Little League Football. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John J. Harris, Jr., great-grandfather, Charles Kinzer and one uncle, John Harris.

Ricky is survived by his father and mother, Richard and Carla Ingram and Jo Nell Harris, one sister, Kellie Ingram, two brothers, Zachery and Greyson Ingram, grandparents, Larry and Alice Herron, Eugene Ingram, Sandy and David Turner and Bill and Sue Willis, great-grandmother, Beulah Kinzer, several aunts, uncles, special cousins, friends and a very special uncle, Telly Allen.

Larry L. Mullins a resident of Morristown, Tn was born in Liggett, Ky. on Sunday, August 24, 1947 and passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at his home at the age of 63 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Mullins. He lived in Lee Co. and Tennessee the past 28 years.

Larry is survived by his mother, Mary Mullins of Rose Hill, Va., his wife, Joyce Chambers Mullins of Morristown, Tn. , one son, Kevin Mullins of Morristown, Tn. He is also survived by one sister, Emma Dalton and husband, J.C. of Columbia, S.C. and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. with Rev. Jerry Murphree officiating.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 PM for the service.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 Saturday at the Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, Va.

Steven Lynn Marcum
(May 24, 1952 - November 5, 2010)

STEVEN LYNN MARCUM, 58, of Jonesville passed away Friday, November 5 at Holston Valley Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He was retired at the Highway Department and was a work from home employee at U-Haul Roadside Assistance.

Steven was a member of the St. Charles Church of God, and a veteran of the Army National Guard.

He loved guitars & music, and was an avid collector of knives and guns.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar “Rat” Marcum; grandparents, Orvil & Elizabeth Marcum and Ernie & Mossie Johnson.

Raquel & Tommy Terry – Navarre, FL
Renee & Mark Flanary – Jonesville
Steven & Elaine Marcum – Jonesville

Grandchildren:

Ashley, Austin, Aydan, Aaron Terry, including best friend, Josh Smith, also a grandson.

Mother of his Children:

Emma Cooper – Dryden

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10 at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Paul Davis officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 11 at Russell’s Chapel Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Military honors will be performed by VFW Posts of Big Stone Gap, Norton & Coeburn along with the Virginia National Guard Honors Team.
