What does income level have to do with it?
Family background and culture for sure but income?
Assuming some basic educational quality level, its all about parenting.

Voted down!
I mean when you have a brand new $110 mil HS only half full and another one that is less than 17 years old that is also half full who needs technology? I mean the leather couches in the hallway and the beautiful decor should be enough right?

If I was saying that then I would say that.
The 'failure' of the public school system has nothing to do with teacher's unions, tenure or lack of funds and all the other bullship you hear.
Whatever is being done in the school has to be reinforced at home. If it isn't , its a waste of time and tax dollars. Its that simple.

In the meantime, Anoka kids are committing suicide at an alarming rate... Particularly gay kids.
I have a hunch that Sister Knucklebuster and Father Ballcupper aren't going to help that. What's up with that?

definitely more good than bad.
My problem with the state "educational" union, I think they spend more money advertsing how great they are and all the things they could do if they had more money to fund education ( which is over half of our state budget now!!). Yet I don't see them using the union dues to spearhead and fund any special projects themselves that they say the kids need.
Nothing more than a marketing and lobby group.
My wife hates the union. It does ship that benefits their supposed title of Educate MN.

I don't disagree with that. Dooher is a pretty big tool, and it's not good PR to be blowing wads of cash on tv advertising when that money could be better allocated.
It's a lot like Zygi Wilf just did... He's begging the state for money, and then he goes out last week and buys a $19M New York apartment. Uh, Zygi... That doesn't look too good. What's up with that?

So you think the gov't and Mark flippon Dayton are?
You syrupy brained liberals think that a gov't appointed task force will solve all of your problems.
You think this while children are dying because nobody is willing to parent them.
"Oh what the hell, we'll just wait for Mark Dayton to solve our problems. Hope he stays on his meds"
I know a Catholic school principal or 2 who could solve your bullying problems but you and your shock therapy governor don't have a clue.
15 person task force. Plouffe me dead. Our children dont have a chance.

Posted December 2nd, 2011 09:55 AM IP I'm sure the latte sipping lemming liberals are celebrating the unemployment rate dropping to 8.6%.
Since the loonie liberals really don't apply simple Ogee math to situations like this, let me help (with apologies to Ogee).
In order for the unemployment rate to drop as substantially as it did, over 630,000 new jobs would have needed to be created. The same report indicates that only around 120,000 new jobs were created. So what happen to the other 510,000 jobs in order to get to the 8.6% rate? Even if you count the number of the those who have completely given up looking for employment, estimated to be above 300,000 people. There is still a large amount of new jobs missing to achieve the 8.6% rate.
Are they counting the "occupy" folks as being employed since they were doing something rather than sitting on their lazy asses?

20,000 non value-added bureaucratic positions eliminated through retirement. A bunch more to go.
I'm not b*tching, just stating the facts before the lemmings start thinking Obama's economic policies are a big deal or anything.
