We'll only hire the "disadvantaged", and let them unionize. They will hold Christmas hostage until we give them full medical and dental and "a living wage" of approximately $35 bucks an hour. Of course they'll need a pension so they can retire at 55 with full benny's. It's a short selling season, so they'll need unemployment for the rest of the year, which taxpayers will have no problem covering to save Christmas.

Jarvis “insisted the fee does not count as a tax, since the industry is effectively ‘assessing themselves.’” The fresh-tree industry has been hurt by the growing popularity of artificial trees.

So despite the fact that the Christmas tree industry, their farmers, Fox News, the USDA, and the White House have all said that this money being collected at the request of the industry itself (and by the industry itself) is serving as a tool to boost the industry, you're still convinced that this is some kind of money grab?

Government sponsorship of one industry here comes at the expense of another industry. i.e. the government picking winners and losers. This administration has a history of picking losers, and at our expense.
