Worst case scenario it is a stepping stone move. Rid yourself of a bad contract for two servicable players on cheap one year deals. Draft picks that make up for past traded ones and more, plus a prospect.

I hope they aren't done. Mark Parrish will be paid by the end of this year or next. PMB and "Lately in a Dress" should be gone maybe add a couple free agents that are actually able to play more than 20 games a year. Things start to look up.

I would even consider trading a few others before Monday, including Backstrom.

The wild need to unload backstrom and clutterbuck.

Then maybe they could build a real team.

I like Clutterbuck as a third liner. He is not the star those idiots Gorg and Greenlay try to make him out to be.

Exactly. Take him off of lines 1 and 2 and take him off of the top PP unit. As a 3rd or 4th liner he probably does ok. Especially if he is willing to drop gloves every once in a while. I hate watching him stir it up and then refuse to drop em.

At 5'11 213 lbs I can't blame him for not dropping the gloves too much. He's an energy and kill penalties guy. He can score an occasional goal but shouldn't be relied on for it.

2 good trades today IMO. Getting rid of Zanon gives them an extra spot to figure out which of the young guys can play. Gilbert brings more offense which is desperately needed. Nice work Fletcher

I'll miss Zanon. That dude was bad ass.

It really didn't matter what Fletch did after the Zidlicky trade - after that one, they won the trading deadline.

Getting 3 players and 2 draft picks for a dude who wasn't really playing anyway? He should be charged with robbery for pulling that one off.

What's up with that?

Zidlicky not playing was a result of stupid coaching.

Whatever. No matter how you slice it, he wasn't playing and was on the backside of his career. It's a hell of a haul.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Wild has traded its longest-tenured player, defenseman Nick Schultz, to the Edmonton Oilers for defenseman Tom Gilbert. The deal was done on Monday, hours before the NHL's trading deadline. Schultz scored his first goal of the season on Sunday in the Wild's 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks, but he's a stay-at-home player and the Wild have been searching for more offense from the blue line. The franchise's all-time leader with 743 games played, Schultz has appeared in at least 79 games in each of the last six seasons and played in all 62 this season.Gilbert had three goals and 14 assists in 47 games for the Oilers. The Minnesota native missed 13 games this season with a knee injury.

Fletch made some deals that may or may not work out in the long run. Time will tell.

Like the Zidlicky deal
Schultz for Gilbert is understandable since we had little to no offense from the blue line. Hopefully Foster brings some too.
Zanon going for a prospect was a no brainer
Little surprised they kept Harding.
