So with the potential retiring of the Sioux name and mascot will the Sioux be able to still play in the new Ralph or not? I heard there was a clause that if the school dropped the nickname the new hockey would be no longer leased to the school, is this true?

The e-mail students received just stated that the logo needed to go. So in theory the stadium could still be used if the 13,000 logos are removed/covered. (Overkill much?)

Here's what they should do in light of this...
Keep the school colors and rename them the "Drunken Irish". I can almost guarantee you that the Irish community would be beyond flattred and would start pouring money into the school. I know I'd be more apt to become a fan.
It's ridiculous. IMO (which doesn't count as I am not of American Indian heritage), there is only one team name that should be changed, and that's the Redskins. The rest are unnecessarily being targeted.
What's up with that?

They already have the approval of one tribe and I'm guessing it will pass the other. The tad bit of Native American I possess has no problem with this and I do agree that "Redskins" is the only one that should be removed.
However - the Flickertails does have a ring to it!

Absolutely no "Flickertails" or any rodents for that matter.
If this all ends the way it's expected to UND will be known as UND until a suitable replacement name is found. That should take another fifty years.
I have heard rumblings that PETA is going to try and get all animal names removed as mascots.

I was wondering what a guy like Henry Bouche would have to say about this subject.
Being he is possibly the greatest Native American hockey player ever, his opinion would certainly carry some weight.
Any Warroad posters have any inside scoop?
Whatever they do, "Flickertails" just doesn't strike much fear in me.
I hope they go with that.

I hope Ralph's "Demolition Clause" kicks in and the dumb bastards that pushed for this will be left wondering why there's a big pasture where the best rink in the world once stood. I also hope that the funding the Englestad's have pledged to the school is pulled then these panty waste profs will be looking for a new job in a real tough market.
