I have been told that the Lightning will not play teams that do not field a JV team. It will be interesting to see if they drop Bemidji from their schedule as the numbers do not look good for a JV for next season in Lumberjack land.
Warroad did add a JV last year and Roseau is suppose to for next year.

They pretty much avoid teams without a JV program.

I haven't seen them play yet but if I was to bet, I would say no. Then again if you're in the game there is a chance.

I saw them over the weekend.....Brainerd/LF is "ok" but will struggle against the better teams alll year.
On a side note, NWC looked good!

Don't know...have not seen any of those teams play. NWC looked bad against Faribault (still won) but very good against Brainerd/LF. To my surprise they have 3 D's (thought they only had 2) and have 2 decent forward lines (thought they only had 1).
Bottom line, 3 9th graders have stepped up and look like they are ready to contribute.

It wasn't pretty. Warroad beat them in every facet of the game. Too bad especially since Bemidji was coming off a big win in Crookston.

4. North Wright County
5. Sartell/Sauk Rapids
6. St. Cloud
7. Brainerd/Little Falls
8. River Lakes
First and second rounds at higher seed. Finals are at a yet to be determined neutral sight.

Other than River Lakes...no real soft teams in 8AA this year....and even they can give you a game on a given night.

No real major blowouts other than River Lakes-Roseau in the first round anyway. I will pick the favorites in the first round. NWC and Sartell may be the only exception. Isn't NWC really hurt by the injury bug?

NWC lost one of two relatively even goalies and lost their horse, Casey Blomberg for the season so they are hurting. Still....NWC has alot of nice players in the pipeline (9th graders Sibley & Sjelin have really stepped up) so they will be ok. Plus, they are well coached and have two veteran D's to help keep them in the game.

Looks like section 8 A & AA is all Roseau County at the State Tournament.
Tiny witto Roseau in AA... which is really quite a story.
And the Northern cherry picked Private School Warroad representing single A.
