Posted February 23rd, 2009 01:09 PM IP Boblee's Class A Predictions:
Wednesday’s first round
11 a.m. — Warroad (25-2) vs. Hutchinson (14-11-2)
Warroad wins this one 5-1.
1 p.m. — Fergus Falls (17-6-3) vs. Red Wing (16-10-1)
Fergus Falls will win a game tighter than some imagine, 4-3.
6 p.m. — Blake (26-2) vs. New Ulm (19-4-2)
No match. Blake Bears roll, 7-1.
8 p.m. — Eveleth-Gilbert (18-8-2) vs. Mahtomedi (8-16-3)
By far the most intriguing game of the first round. I want to see Eveleth win this game, but Mahtomedi is red hot. I take the Zephyrs by a 4-2 margin.
Consolation Semis:
Hutchinson vs. Red Wing
The Wingers regroup after a tough loss and win this one 5-3
New Ulm vs. Eveleth
Eveleth refuses to go two-and-out and wins another overtime thriller, 3-2
Semis:
Warroad vs. Fergus Falls
Warroad continues the trend of getting section 8 into the final with a 3-2 win in this great northern battle.
Blake vs. Mahtomedi
The great Mahtomedi run is halted by Blake, 5-1
Consolation Finals:
Red Wing vs. Eveleth
This game is so interesting. I take Eveleth in yet another OT game, 4-3
Third Place Game:
Fergus Falls vs. Mahtomedi
Fergus Falls continues to represent the north well. Fergus wins this one 4-1. Mahtomedi still had a great playoff run.
Title Game:
Warroad vs. Blake
This year, section 8A gets it's title. Warriors win a thriller, 3-2 If you don't have an angle, dangle.

Posted February 23rd, 2009 01:15 PM IP Boblee's Class AA Predictions:
Thursday's First Round:
11 a.m. — Hopkins (22-3-2) vs. Irondale (21-6-1)
Great run by Irondale to get here. Hopkins wins 5-2
1 p.m. — Edina (17-6-5) vs. C-E-C (18-9-1)
As we are getting closer to this weekend, I am feeling more great vibes for C-E-C. They turn the tables and beat Edina 4-3
6 p.m. — Stillwater Area (24-4) vs. Lakeville South (20-7-1)
Stillwater is very good. They win 6-1
8 p.m. — Eagan (23-5) vs. Elk River-Zimmerman (15-11-2)
Elk River's record makes them look inferior. They aren't. They have Curtis up front and Erickson at the blue line. Very nice team. They win 4-3.
Consolation Semis:
Irondale vs. Edina
The Hornets will not go two-and-out in their first state tournament appearance. Hornets win this one 4-1.
Lakeville South vs. Eagan
Eagan will right the **** to meet Edina in the consolation finals. 3-0 Eagan.
Semi-Finals:
Hopkins vs. Cloquet
Hopkins gets the best of Cloquet, but the game remains very close despite the shots heavily in Hopkins favor. 4-2 Hopkins.
Stillwater vs. Elk River
This is where Elk River does not have enough weapons to move on. The Ponies move to the title game with a 5-3 victory.
Consolation Finals:
Edina vs. Eagan
Edina brings home hardware in their first trip to state. Edina 4-2 winners.
Third Place Game:
Cloquet vs. Elk River
This is probably the most interesting matchup outside of the title game. Lundquist goes out hot in her final game with the Lumberjacks. Cloquet wins 4-3.
Title Game:
Hopkins vs. Stillwater
Why not? The two best teams. They should meet in the finals. Hopkins is going to win the title with a 3-1 win.
If you don't have an angle, dangle.
