Posted March 24th, 2011 01:34 PM IP Take it for what you will, but Nishioka now has a 12 game hit streak.
Yeah, it's spring training, but I have to think that bodes well for building some confidence for the kid. Based on the few times I've seen him, I like the way he plays. Good D, and he hustles like crazy.
What's up with that?

Posted March 24th, 2011 08:14 PM IP It's time for me to stretch out my baseball typing fingers.
1. Pavano, I trust this guy
2. Liriano, I feel fairly confident that the injury is well in the rearview mirror
3. Blackburn, I don't think he can beat anyone good
4. Duensing, too small a body of work for me to have any deep rooted negativity or confidence
5. Baker, to date - career ain't what we wanted
Bullpen - been pretty good a long, long time now with a lot of different bodies, I'm clinging to my faith that management knows what they got and what they got can get enough outs

Posted March 25th, 2011 03:14 PM IP I like Yoshi and the Twins are getting him in his prime.
Mauer, The pitching staff, Yoshi and Span...strong up the middle defensively.
We shall see about the SS.

Maybe but the Twins have had good backups and it helps. Hudson and Hardy both missed a lot of time last year and they still won 94 games.
This year will have its share of sprained wrists and ankles etc so they need some one who can play a lot of positions.
The only guy they have is Tolbert so he makes the team.
They do not need a pinch hitter so Hughes goes to Rochester. People are saying "Hey, what the Plouffe, Hughes hit the heck out of the ball". Thast great but can he play SS if Cassila gets hurt or when Thome phs for Cassilla in the late innings?
I like the team. How many wins will they get and how many will it take? Hmmm.

90 to win the division.
83 wildcard? Don't think so, the Twins 1st round loss in the playoffs streak is in serious jepardy. Nut up or Shut up.

Posted March 28th, 2011 10:26 AM IP I think somebody wil have to win 90+.
The Twins will win 92 and that will be enough but only by 1.

Biggest question mark for me is Duensing.
If he backslides the Twins are in trouble. He needs to be reliable. Believe in Yourself

He is 15-5 with a 3.02 ERA for his career.
No one guy having an off year or a rough spot will take them "out of it". Thats what I like about the team.
Think about last year. 94 wins w/o Morneau for 1/2 the season. Nathan gone . Hardy and Hudson banged up a lot. Blackburn sent down to the minors. Baker had issues. Cuddyer and Mauer with off years.
Think if they all have good seasons.

Posted March 28th, 2011 02:17 PM IP I think 92-93 wins is a pretty good pick. I am more worried about the bullpen and the 3B/SS situation on the infield than Duensing.
Can Valencia avoid a sophmore jinx? (Not sold on him)
Is Cassilla the answer at short? (big question)
Bullpen should be fine but not the comfort level of past years. 2011 MHF Cup Winner

I think Valencia will be fine. He may not hit .320 but he should do .275/ 10 HR at a minimum.
Cassila is on everybody's list of ? but if he is the only one, it's a pretty good situation.
The bullpen will be less than it has been but not a real problem.

96 Wins; 93 to win the division. "You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes, by yourself, you know and you feel shame, you know. And then you get free. "
