It has come to my attention that while we grow in members, we must somehow make our roleplays uniform. So now, I'm going to post some loose guidelines, most of them from an "application form" that Rayu put together, along with my own ideas.

Most Lair roleplays go with a storybook sort of style. While some may be used to another type, (Actions in *asterisks*, and everything else being speech) this is not what Mylo's Lair uses. All posts are to be in complete sentences, with a predicate and subject, using correct (or, close enough) grammar.
Every time you post a fractured sentence, God kills a kitten.
So, just try to make coherent thoughts when you post.

There are other stipulations that most roleplay sites follow as well, including the use of Power Play, God-Modeling and etc.

Power Playing is the use of another's character, or forcing someone else's character to react a certain way. Basicially, if you are writing in your post an action that your character is not committing, you are powerplaying.
Seldomly, minor PP is allowed with permission from the character's owner.

God-Modeling is when a character is indestructible, omnipotent, or in any general fashion, Godly. (This includes Mary-Sue characters.)
No character is perfect. Everyone has flaws, and nobody is liked by everybody.
No character leaves every battle unscathed.
And no character is immune to death. (Now, this one may be debated. Immortality is usually regarded as the inability to die of old age, but still allows one to be killed by other, untimely means. Other forms of afterlife are also allowed. General rule - If you have no idea, ask a Mod.)

Thoughts are usually placed in italics or other forms embedded in the post. Other characters absolutely cannot know what's happening in another's mind by reading their thoughts. For example, consider these two posts.
Quote:
Kachena rolled her eyes at her friend, and looked away to allow time to think. At least he doesn't know about the orange juice I stashed behind the sofa.

The following is an improper response:
Quote:
"Your feelings betray you." Daen squinted his eyes at Kachena, and stood up to walk across the room. He pulled a conspicuous orange carton from behind the couch.
"A juice box. Of course. Your thoughts betray you and your friends. Join me, and together..."

Aside from the vague Star Wars references, Daen impossibly found out about the contraband beverage immediately as Kachena's thoughts strayed towards it. What is divulged to you, the author, is not always known by your character. Remember this well.

To talk about something out of character, (or OOC,) Larians use ((Double parantheses)) to surround whatever they feel like talking about. Background information, general chat behind the roleplay, whatever.

People talk in "Quotation marks." Everyone learned this in Kindergarten.

Chatspeak is considered infantile and unnecessary here at the Lair. "2" cannot be used in place of "to" or "too." If it's really too taxing on you to type out, in it's entirety, "are," and you really must use "r" instead, perhaps you should find another hobby.
It's difficult to read, and should be reserved for txting ur grlfrnds!

No double-posting. If you have just said something, and no one else has replied yet, just hit edit and remake the post rather than making a second one right below it. This cleans up the forums and helps keep things organized. The edit button is useful for additional thoughts, spelling/grammar corrections, etc.

Be helpful and supportive to other roleplayers, especially newbies. However great and mighty of a roleplayer you may be, everyone started out ignorant.

Feel free to open up new topics and storylines, unless there is a similar one already in existence.

READ before you POST. Yes, the whole thing. There’s lots of important character and plot info in there.

The rules at the heads of a story apply only to that story, but must be obeyed.

It is advisable in most instances to post a character in the Character section before beginning to play as him/her, so others know a little bit about you and can more easily work to create a great storyline with you. Please only post in characters you plan to use.

Interested in that entire Warriors section taking up the middle of the Lair? So are we! But, Mylo and the rest of the Larians have yet to get their acts together regarding the Warriors Cats roleplay. Sorry.

IF YOU'RE TOO LAZY TO READ THE WHOLE THING, AT LEAST READ THIS:
General, summarized rules:

* Try as hard as you can to use proper grammar and syntax when posting. We may be grammar nazis, but we won't kick anyone out based on sentence structure.

* The only things you can control during roleplay are characters you have the ownership over. Characters belonging to someone else are not your property, and you may not make them do things against their will.

* I don't care how much you hate someone, the Lair is not the place for drama. Everyone should and will be treated with due respect, within reason.

* What the Mods say becomes rule, but

* What Mylo says becomes law. This does not mean we swing around the banhammer around here. If you have an issue, please, grab a tissue and feel free to complain to us. We do try to keep the majority happy.

* If you have any questions, ASK! Ignorance is not a crime! (Though, in some places it probably should be.) We're lazy, unorganized people, and we need all the help we can get.

Thank you.
Have fun! (At least I didn't make that into a rule, eh?)

-Mylo
