Posted July 23rd, 2011 08:57 PM IP Yeah, saw it earlier and been following it on TV. Looks like it was indeed a drugs overdose...and at 27 too.
While it is a shock, it isn't a surprise really. You just think that she finally managed it, whether intentionally or accidentally. It was going to happen sadly.
Success has turned out to be her ruin after all. She's had a trainwreck of a career following Back In Black. I remember a couple of years ago walking past her in Camden on a Sunday afternoon where she was staggering along the road. She never did go to rehab and sadly she very much needed to.
No doubt there is material in the can that will now see a release, but we'll never know how she would have progressed.

I think she did actually. That's what I've read anyway.
Have YOU been Con-Demed yet?

People say it was an inevitability but it wasn't. If that was the case Brian Wilson, Keith Richards and probably quite a few others who are still with us would have been dead long ago. Some people live on the edge, some fall off and others don't. Just a matter of luck I suppose. Have YOU been Con-Demed yet?

Posted July 25th, 2011 07:46 PM IP Of course, yes - you hope people will pull through to either recovery or just coping with their needs and getting lucky. She was very likely unlucky in whatever caused her death, and as you say some people can carry on abusing their bodies for years. Not many though.
If Hendrix hadn't turned over on his back he wouldn't have choked. If Keith Moon hadn't taken quite so many pills.....but i don't suppose Keith would have lasted much longer. The Harry Nilsson programme last week was a good example that abuse on that level will get you in the end. Unless you are Keith Richards.
