Posted September 6th, 2007 03:50 PM IP ha ha, this just reminded me of when i was young and being a student and pissing about with the scanner on my computer - we made some portraits for my then band.
here they are: (by the way, you said close to your heart rather than good! which is why im posting these - they were jokes, but they bring back memories)

these two just remind me of me and my mate just giggling endlessly at how bad they were.

the originals are much bigger. and therefore obviously much more impressive.
i shall probably delete these out of embarrassment in a few minutes.... sound the foghorn horn!

Posted September 6th, 2007 07:00 PM IP My visual stuff tends to be graphic design-oriented. All I've got handy right now are a few flyers I've done for some of my shows:

Don't be. I really like the look of photocopied band flyers as well. There's something very cool about that look; the cover of Marquee Moon was taken from a photocopied picture, just because the band liked the way it made the image look. It's just that I was a graphic design major, and I have access to a bunch of software on my work computer, so I figure I might as well use my training for something.

Would it offend anyone if I posted a picture of my pee-pee?

Well it depends how proud you are of it I suppose. And the artistic context....

Well, I was part of three different acts that night. In my friend Ryan's group, I went up and just played bass on "Cinnamon Girl." The Conniptions did "Over and Over," "Lotta Love," and "Like a Hurricane." In the Nova Heat set, I did a solo acoustic "Flying On the Ground is Wrong," and then the rest of the band came up and we did "Barstool Blues" and "Revolution Blues."
The show was recorded, but I haven't heard any of them yet. There is a clip of The Nova Heat doing "Revolution Blues" that night up on YouTube, though:

And Andy put up a recording of The Conniptions doing "Like a Hurricane" on the Members Music Showcase thread over on the Record Room. It's not from that show, but it's a basement recording from last week that turned out really well. Go check it out; there's also a really great song of his that he posted at the same time.

Posted September 10th, 2007 12:58 PM IP The car club I was formerly involved with had trouble with some drunken f*ckwit parking his car on our this stand on saturday last, the result being that the venue was going to remove it by whatever force was needed. This was the fantasy scenario of what we would have liked to have had happen, and was used for the 'visual topical joke' on the main page of the site. Was a rushed job and I hate having to use internet sourced elements, but I don't currently own a warhead, flamethrower or Apache gun ship, yet.

Posted September 10th, 2007 11:12 PM IP And, Mr. Fromage, I understand your feeling quite well. I live across the street from a college full of Rich Girls who park anywhere they like any time they like without regard for the real citizens of the neighborhood. I dream of seeing that scene up and down my block.
