Posted March 3rd, 2009 04:35 PM IP I just got finished doing a few little errands around town here. Recently, the Great American Bagel store closed (It took me almost a month to notice!). And last Saturday, our Kroger closed. Well, today I was driving down the street and noticed that the electronic sign out side of the Wachovia investment place is DEAD! It used to trumpet all kinds of numbers related to the stock market...none of which I understood.
It could be that the sign is on the fritz. Or it could be that the place is on a "holiday" of sorts. Or it possibly could be that they didn't want to cause any accidents (it's on a fairly busy street) by trumpeting really depressing news! Take your pick or come up with one of your own!
I thought it just a little interesting! :ques: Central Illinois

Posted March 3rd, 2009 05:46 PM IP There are two prime real estate spots on the main drag here for rent. I'm thinking that there are going to be several more before long. It's been a really long time since any spot here sat empty.

Posted March 11th, 2009 12:51 AM IP In our local shopping center, two of the main anchor stores are closing or closed. We have at least a third of the other shops empty. In that same center we have two new payday loan shops. About the only place in town which seems to be thriving is Wal-Mart. We are in the upper midwest.

Posted March 11th, 2009 06:53 PM IP We lost our Goody's, Value City Dept. Store and movie store. If blockbuster closes, heard they are filing bankruptcy, we will be down to only one video store and it is tiny. Many local restaurants have closed already. Domino's pizza used to make employees' stand in all sorts of weather holding little signs saying $5.00 large pizzas, now they have duck tape over the large part and wrote "small" in its place.
