Two charged in connection to copper thefts
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Two Charleston men were arrested Monday after allegedly trying to strip the copper pipes out of a South Hills home.
Sgt. Eric Hodges of the Charleston Police Department said a witness heard suspicious noises coming out of an abandoned house at 954 Ridgemont Road about noon Monday and called police. Officers allegedly discovered Brandon Spencer, 19, and Emeka Ven Eneje, 22, both of Charleston, trying to steal the copper pipes out of the
home.
Eneje and Spencer were arrested and charged with breaking and entering, Hodges said. They were in the South Central Regional Jail on Tuesday in lieu of $25,000 bond each.

Posted November 30th, 2010 06:39 PM IP Well, the theft of copper out of outside AC units has been going on for a while. And with all the vacant houses in forclosure, I can see this happening more and more.
Batten down the hatches!!! It's starting to become a bumpy ride. Central Illinois

Posted November 30th, 2010 11:38 PM IP But the good news is we think they found the people who kept stealing our telephone lines. A week or so ago in a different town, the police found lots of telephone lines in an out building at someones house they were investigating for copper theft. They arrested them. Hopefully they were the ones who took our lines. West Virginia
