have you tried a different SD card, Sometimes the card has a bad sector that will make the card do weird things. Also if you Formatted it it on a computer it might have changed the format of the file system of the card ( NTFS to FAT32, FAT32 to NTFS ).

Most SD cards made these days are manf. with very poor quality control and sometimes they have a little piece of dust or someting in between the blocks that will short the card out.

if your running windows 7 or vista go to Start Menu > Computer. If you can see the sd card right click on it to select format, if it lets you get this far you will get a screen that gives you a couple of options. click restore device defaults then choose quick format and hit start (THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR CARD so make sure there isn't anything you want on it). If it still is having problems change the file system to FAT32 using the previous steps.

If the card dosent show up on your computer or fails when you try and format, it is definately a problem with your card.

Hope this is helpful. There could be problems other than the card but this is the the cheapest, least time consumming solution i could think of.

one thing I have learned with ours is that if you turn it off without stopping the recording, ie pushing the shutter button again you will lose what you have recoreded. I have lost a few of the kids races that way.
