Posted March 22nd, 2012 10:33 AM IP THE TEAM RACE SERIES IS SO AWESOME THAT WE'VE EXPANDED IT TO ALL ROUNDS!!!
2 Hour TEAM Race - 2:30 PM - Saturday Prior to ALL remaining Rounds of the 2012 US Desert Racing Series!!!
Classes and Costs -
Each Class is 2-3 riders and cost is a PER rider fee.
You can ride your personal bike or share a bike.
$50 PER RIDER
T1 - Premier Class - 100% payback
$25 PER RIDER
OPEN A/B - All CC's
OPEN C/D - All CC's
40+ A/B - All CC's
40+ C/D - All CC's
Women ALL
Quad ALL
Mini ALL
Family Team - Must be related by Blood or Marriage
Riders, Teams and Points-
T1 - Premier Class
The T1 class is comprised of TEAMS. The Number and Points stay with the team reguardless of rider.
example: AS Racing T1 Team. Bike # 25. No matter who is on that bike, the #25 AS bike will get the points awarded for their finish. They can switch riders for the next round and the #25 AS bike will get the points awarded at the next round.
All Other Classes
Rider of Record is Awarded points
example: Rider of Record Tony Bartel teams with Steve Harper and Jeff Harper. Rider of Record Tony Bartel receives points for the series. He can choose to ride with Steve Harper for round 2 or ride with another rider but for Tony Bartel to receive points he MUST ride on the team.
It can be the Tony Bartel / Steve Harper / Jeff Harper team all year, but no matter what the "RIDER OF RECORD" must be on the bike and part of the team.
So that if Steve is injured or cant make it to a round the team can STILL get points at the next round.
The Rider Number will stay with Tony at each subsequent round and what ever number he earns for the season he will have for the subsequent season.
Points
Teams will be scored SEPERATELY and each will have a seperate title to earn. They will be scored on the Expert Points Scale. There will be no individual event trophies but there will be a season end award.
Rider Exchanges and Pitting
Riders can switch any time they wish but MUST switch in designated pit area.
Riders will be given wrist bands that MUST be switched at each rider exchange.
You will only be able to Refuel in designated Pit area.
ALL riders, reguardless if they are exchanging riders or not must go through designated pit area.
Sign Up and Numbers
There will be no pre entry for the Team Race. Post Entry only.
Run the Numbers that you have for the series as this is the BEST way to keep your score!
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK AS IT IS BETTER TO GET THEM OUT OF THE WAY NOW THEN ON THE STARTING LINE! USDR EVENT COORDINATOR

Posted March 22nd, 2012 12:17 PM IP My son already races in the series and is ropeing me into the team race. I assume I have to sign up for the series and cannot just pay the money at the site for the team race, is that correct?
Thanks

Posted March 22nd, 2012 12:33 PM IP you have to get a comp license - which lasts for 12 months so if you but it in may it expires next may - and then just pay entry for each individual team race. USDR EVENT COORDINATOR

Posted March 22nd, 2012 06:22 PM IP No. they will be via .pdf for a few reasons
1. We started with "T" numbers and switched to regular numbers
2. the first round we actually didn't have the series set up correctly so it jacked it up a little. That was fault completely.
there are other reason's I just cant think of them right now... USDR EVENT COORDINATOR

Posted March 26th, 2012 12:39 PM IP I just had a blast in the team race. To me it was more for fun than for points or ranking but it was still cool my team mates put the pressure to push my self though. I am glad to see it expanded out into the desert now. ARRGG Racing

What if Tony gets his PHD finds a job and quits (sorry Tony) team racing. Can Steve Harper or Jeff Harper takeover “rider of record” if they were on the team all along pick out another teammate finish the series keeping the team points previously earned?

If they are racing the premier class then yes they can take over Tony's spot if they want to but only 2 riders is needed. If its just open or 40+ class then only the riders who race get the points so Tony would be out of luck Dylan Willoughby

Posted March 27th, 2012 07:26 AM IP I think all teams should be handeled like the premier class. as long as the team mates are all in the required class as the team is registered under.
that way i can start up some HDH 1x and HDH 2x teams.. lol
and the twins can be HDH 1f. haha

Posted March 27th, 2012 08:15 AM IP If I did that for every class it would take away from the "premier" aspect of the premier class...
Its kind of turning out that way anyway with a few riders getting injured and I just want people to have fun...
HOWEVER If I let everyone switch like that it will be impossible to track points because it does off the riders number and not the bike number (thats just the way moto-tally works right now) AND it completely defeats the purpose of a TEAM beating another TEAM because you can just get who ever to be on your team when ever. Posted March 27th, 2012 03:13 PM IP I think the premier class should be handled like Baja where they have to share a bike. Might be more interesting for spectators as well to watch. Just my .02 cents Dylan Willoughby

Posted March 28th, 2012 10:38 AM IP Yea I'm sure a majority of the riders like the use your own bike setup. But when gas is an issue then it could be pretty interesting to see how pitting strategy comes into play Dylan Willoughby

Posted March 30th, 2012 12:47 PM IP It depends on the area.
For Gorman and Anza theres really no option except to exclude the "Race 2" specific sections.
For the Red Mountain Round we will be hosting the Team race on the first and last half of the course. It will be 8-10 miles long and omit the 5-7 mile section that will be for sunday's event. This will save a section for sunday that will be fresh and new to everyone. USDR EVENT COORDINATOR

Posted March 31st, 2012 10:14 AM IP Thats what I figured. You prolly have to deal with the BLM to set up a 3rd loop, and that sounds like a pain. Lookin forward to both races. Keep up the good work! Bring the rain!
