i can tell by the running order at the check points if there was any serious cheating going on. when we were cleaning up the track, i personally saw 3 lines that were made that would have disqualified the ones who took it if i had seen them. by the looks of the tracks, it looks like about 5 or 6 people used those lines, and it was not by accident.

remember though.....everyone who cheats WILL get caught eventually, but a multi-lap format makes it really hard to combat this issue.

There is no way Dave can staff enough people on the course to prevent cheating, i.e. cutting the course, I heard the KTM rider was saying there was some serious course cutting but don’t know what happened. I know both racers very well and have a lot of respect for both of them. So at this point I felt it was a close and good race and will let it be. As for the format, for the Pro’s, or at least Nick it sucked. Going their speeds and having to pass tons of racers in heavy dusk for three laps is a great combination for a hard crash and a serious injury. Maybe some of the starts could be combined to get the racers on the course quicker. The last start took off 22 minutes after the first start and the leaders finished the first lap in 27 minutes.

i can't believe how fast the pro's did their first lap....i was expecting 35 minutes, and my start was supposed to take 16 minutes, so i thought there would be a good 15 minutes before the pros would start their second lap.

Yeah the pros were fast and that freekin dog didn't help either. That had to have given them another 5 minutes.

from the start to check 1 there was serious cheating even by fast riders that may have been following the leader in the dust I dont know, out by the road without seeing the location on a map, gps etc. I could not tell if they had a short cut after the check or not. I saw it first hand and saw the same riders more than once and I know that riders beat me that never passed me because I had to slow and get lapped at the pit because of a broken rear wheel, and saw the riders that never passed me get 4. It really sucks that riders would cheat I'm sure some followed, but others flat out knew the area and did what they knew they could get away with. I know the biggest cheat area was between start and check 1 and they would not have missed the check so I'm sure they got away with it.

the fastest way to check 1 from the start was the course....there was no faster way to the check, and i know that because we worked on that section more than any other on the course. also, the whole first section was visible from the check point on the hill, so if someone was to cut the corner out of the wash, they would have been seen by the check staff.

the main section to check 1 was pipeline road, there is no faster way to the check than that.

I agree you know it better than anyone so I would never argue your track layout or anything else I liked the track alot. I dont pay a ton of attention to the check point numbers etc.so I may be off a bit when explianing myself. You may have noticed I never mention the # of the check by the road because I dont remember. When we made the right on to the first fast section then it ended with a sharp left when we made that left and headed for check 1 riders were coming across from somewhere and merging in Its hard for me to know what they were doing without riding the area again or looking at a view. I may be off a bit on exact locations but I know by the end of lap 1 I was already telling you what was going as I came through scoring. I know its hard to police the whole track, and we need to trust each other to play fair, I know in the Pro class $ is important the rest of us are racing for fun so its not a big deal. But when you see it going on its very frustrating. I'm glad that your are aware that it was happening. Thanks for the great events looking forward to the last one.

sounds to me like you probably saw lappers coming onto the course or something...dave's right, from home check to check 1, the course was the fastest way there, and the check workers would've seen cheaters if they cut corners

they might have blown the turn out of the wash, and then been coming back to pick up the course. the right hand turn out of the wash looks like it was missed by alot of people most of the turns made look to be 100 feet past the actual marked turn. people were following the bikes ahead of them and not the markings....

That dog and the fact that I had no front brake, cost me a shot at 4 laps and a better overall placing!...several minutes are crucial to an overall place...all cuz a dog...wasn't the dog issue addressed at the riders meeting?...wow!...it just sucks to have your race affected by a dog...not leaving up to the riders to race things out...and no front brake added to the frustration!...can't wait for Round #6

The dog saved the day for me, 3 laps was bad enough. I was thinking I would have my wife let our dog go right before the Vet Beg class leaves at the next round. LOL!

First lap...I blew this turn as Dave said...I was to busy trying to pass the other Vet beginner in front of me and we both blew the turn an had to turn back... Second lap I darn near blew it again....tried to slow down for it at the last second and dumped it in the sand.

Chalk it up to rookie mistakes(2nd Race ever). I blew the turns in three spots on the first lap. All three times I lost serious time. By the third episode of Blowmyraceishness I pretty much lost any hope of competing with anyone other than DNFs so I decided just to trail ride it and have fun.

My only goal next race...PAY ATTENTION!!
