Im sure most of you know this but the 2 strokes come with ignition mapping, you can plug or unplug grey wire under gas tank and on left side for soft or hard hit, connected is high performance and disconnected is soft hit.

Also they have adjustable exhaust port height and it can be changed at the track or at home in 5 minutes or less, very easy to do. The stock settings for my 11 150 xc was all bottom end and no top, zero, and it came stock like this. I made the adjustment last night to just below the Langston/metcalfe setting so it should be a new bike today, looking forward to trying it out. I got a lot of this info from KTM talk tips and tricks section, check it out. They should include the adjustment for port height in manual but they don't.
Point of the story if you own a 2 stroke KTM be sure to see check where your exhaust valve height is at. For 250/300 owners its a spring adjustment, for 125/144/150 owners it is a simple open end box (19mm) wrench and an (8/6mm),clockwise to raise the hit, counterclockwise to lower the hit.
FOR125/144/150 OWNERS--Unbolt exhaust vent hose(6mm) from left side of engine this is the sight window, there are two static(not moving) marks toward front of engine, there is also your adjustment mark somewhere between these two marks, this is your sight window. Mark at top of the window is all bottom end, bottom of window is all top end.
Go to right side of engine unbolt 30mm nut with copper washer, then at 4oclock there is a 8mm bolt, unscrew but not all the way, just a few turns. You will notice an screw adjustment, dont touch,Adjustment should be made with 19mm wrench only!.Clockwise to lower mark(more mid/top) in window and counter clockwise to raise mark(more bottom) in window.

Hope my nonsense helped somebody,if not go to ktm talk tips and tricks,250/300 owners your on your own.250/300 owners you have a spring adjustment only difference.

Are you talking of the "pink wire" mod or something different?
