Hi!!!

To throw big pieces we can do them in one or in several parts.

Do them of several parts allows us to be able to do pieces as big as we want.

Sometimes I re-throw the base of my bottles to do forms very much delicate .

I can' t do pieces bigger than 60 cm because my kiln is small ...

That was fascinating. I've added a top to a thrown bottom...but never added a bottom to a thrown top. Thanks for sharing,

I love watching you work!

This reminded me that one of my favorite pieces that I made was done in 2 parts. I really should do more.

Thanks for sharing, Mariscal, and I look forward to seeing more.

If a person did it at some time in history, we can do it now.

Is the same that if you throw this type of pot

You must add a bottom to a thrown top.

Jose, I like the video, nice technique.
on the picture of the amphora, have you tried throwing the pot upside down. Centering, open to bat as wide as the mouth, pull it to a cone and close; then when the pot is firm, put it in the chuck and finish the rim right side up(the rim will still be soft enough to turn).? I have done several but only up to about 4-6 lb. I only did them as an exercise to see if it worked for me but not for production. Wyndham

Another great video - I do a very similar thing where I turn the pot upside down, open the bottom and continue to throw in the opposite direction. I figure why trim the clay away when you can use it to gain more height or push the form a bit more. I started using this technique when I was making pointed bottom pieces that were designed to rest on their sides or in a metal stand. I love your version - adding clay makes a lot more sence.
Great Video

Wyndham,
I think is posible to throw upside down but is better finished as I do ( for me ).... You can try to do it and let me know what do you thing... If you throw a big Roman or Greek ancient amphora try to throw it in 3 parts: the body, the neck and the bottom. Then you can do a big one.

Glenn,
Adding clay you can do more things but your version is very interesting....
Thanks for explain your technique!
