I have been a potter/ceramist in Norway for forty years. Now and then I have experimented with zinc-silicate macrocrystalline glazes. The latest ten years I also have tried to make zinc-barium matt crystalline glazes. The silky touch of these glazes is very important to me. First time I saw glossy crystalline glazes was bottles made of Derek Clarkson, and I admirer the matt glazes made of Hein Severijns from Holland.

All my pots are handthrown in porcelain and fired to
1275 degree Celcius.

Welcome to the Forum!
Nice work. I don't think I have ever seen the blue on red, which I assume is encapsulated stains, done in matte.

Bjarne,

Welcome to the Forum!! I agree with William - the satin quality of this glaze is beautiful and unusual - can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve.

Welcome, Bjarne! I am also a great admirer of Hein Severijns work - his glazes are amazing, but his forms are so very lovely as well.
It's always so interesting to see work from far away. Long ago in another time & place, when I was very young, I had a father in law from Oslo, Knute Hansen, an olympic ski-jumper, actually. I learned to ski from him, and in his family, and always wanted to go to Norway for a visit. Perhaps I'll still get there, someday!
Look forward to your postings!
Cheers,
from beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
Holly

I do not know Knut Hansen, but I know there are many ski jumpers in Norway. We live on the northwest coast of Norway. We have 200 meters to the sea and 15 kms to the mountain with ski runs and ski jumps. Although I'm not a avid skier (I'm originally from Denmark), but I am very keen fisherman.
