Topie: Lizards IN THE HOUSE
August 8th, 2009 01:30 PM
eldmon2008 Ok I am desperate for some ideas on how to keep these critters far far away. We have killed 2 in the house and seen at least one other one. I have killed several outside and see LOTS of them out there.

Any suggestions? I just cannot stand them. Too snake-like. I think a cat is definitely on the slate. Other then that, I do not know. O, and they leave these nasty lizard turds. In a couple months I will have a crawling baby. Ewwwwwww. HELP.

Jenn I'm sorry ... that's one problem I wasn't sad to leave when I moved north. We used to just catch them and take them outside when they got in. So gross!

ihavesix Oh man, oh man!!I'm shivering just thinking about them. !!!!! Hate, hate those things! I'd sure be getting a whole family of cats and maybe putting some sticky traps around here and there. :p

Gina P echoing Jenn's comment- we also used to get a bang out of catching them by the tail and watching it come off!! gross, I know-

Jaysgirl Maybe you need my children for a while. They are just delighted whenever they catch a lizard outside. :)

gentlewarriors What!!?? People have problems with LIZARDS in their houses in the STATES?? I am laughing, because I didn't know. Is it a southern problem? I grew up in PA and yeah, every ONCE in a GREAT while we would see one outside. Then I move to Liberia and they are EVERYWHERE, and huge too. So I have come to tolerate them and just watch them as they crawl up my walls, but all the while wishing I could get rid of them for good, but knowing that isn't possible.
All that to say, I feel for you and don't blame you at all for wanting a solution, but don't have any to offer.

Jenn Yes, Hannah, we have them in the States. Once I closed the front door ... thought it closed a little hard ... and opened it to discover that I had squished a lizard in the door jamb! Excuse me while I retch.

natover For those of you who despise lizards, please don't move to Thailand or you will have a heart attack. Over there they have what they call geckos & they are all over the place, inside & out. They can walk on the ceiling due to sticky feet but sometimes the little ones can't hang on & they will fall off the ceiling & occasionally land on someones lap. =) Then they have another one called a Ducka (sp?) They are like a gecko except much fatter. You normally don't find them inside. they are gross looking things & If I'm not mistaken can bite.
I have a cousin here in the states that will take lizards & makes their mouths open & then stick them on her ears. (she's about 10 yrs old. btw.) She then walks around with live lizard ear rings. =)

janelleandco Natalie you have quite the cousin  . I think I'd like to meet her. Give me a lizard any day over a mouse. Now they make me screech.
