I would love to have a new bedroom suite, but we cannot afford it right now. So, I decided, why not give my furniture a makeover by painting, antiqueing, whatever. Have any of you done this and if so, do you have any pictures or instructions? My walls are a cream color and my carpet is beige. Should I lighten or darken my furniture? Right now they are stained a med. brown that has kind of an orange/yellow tinge. Yes, we bought them used after we got married, so they need a new look.
What suggestions do you have for me? |

I've never done any myself, but my sister-in-law has a crib that was given to her. She painted it a black enamel and it looks like an expensive piece of furniture. My mom has also done some, but I don't have any pictures or instructions. Sorry! |

Painting it black was the first thing I thought of too, but I will warn you. I have a black countertop for our eating ledge, and it shows the dust a LOT. It would look really nice when it's clean! \"/ |

I LOVE this kind of stuff but have never done anything complicated. I'm thinking of re-doing my ceder chest and doing a rubbed antique finish on it.
Black sound like it would look neat w/ your beige walls and carpet. Or you could go tone on tone and have everything white and shades of beige...:-) |

I have been considering this too. The thing that gets me the most is the sanding though.
If you ever get it done, post pictures. |

I painted some furniture black for my son's room. Took a bunch of mismatched furniture, painted them black, and looked like I spent $ on furniture set. Black does show dust a lot though. That reminds me, need to touch up the chip marks on his furniture.
Antiqueing would be neat... Best wishes for a beautiful bedroom. |

This is what I did w/ paint lately. It was a yucky yellowish brownish varnish look.... |

One of my friends repainted a set black and it seriously looked new and amazing. I am looking for a old really old harvest table to paint partly black. Top wood stained and black chairs then black table legs as well. In the meantime I will be watching this to see what you come up with. ;) |

I sanded and spray painted it. The paint is a dark brown/ Matte finish/ I forget what kind.....but it doesn't wash off w/ Water very well, like if you get it on your hands....
I should have sanded it a lot more. But for as bad as it was it looks much better now! |
