Check the 80 thread, sir. Nearly all those you mentioned and the Duran are locks. |

Not the Top 2 in the polls, but if you want, I shall put those in there. |

No way in hell. Though I'm sure I could fake a giant review praising the merger of "denim and leather in sound" on that album. Funny, that equals out to a "drunk shitting his jeans." |

I hate to remotely turn down a newbie, but I must say, write-in votes will be accepted for that one. No offense intended. |

I've got to admit, I can't help it; I like "Tom Sawyer." It's so dorky but so delicious at the same time. Rush had a few moments I sort of dig. But I'm only saying that because of the EXTREME OPEN-MINDEDNESS we all share here, right? |

Uh, right!!
I like "Moving Pictures" and a couple others from that era quite a lot, but the earlier stuff and later stuff I kinda hate. There's something about the chilly blend of synths and hard rock that I find compelling. Sorry. Or rather, NOT sorry!

One time I was talking to Todd Homer from the Angry Samoans and I said that I thought Rush was the worst band of all time, and he said "Of course, saying that, what you really mean is that Triumph is the worst band of all time". |

| I'd agree with you there, except that I also kind of like their first album too. It's so weird to hear Rush, of all people, with absolutely zero artistic pretentions other than to be Canada's version of Led Zeppelin. And other than Geddy Lee's already ear-destroying elfin singing, they weren't all that bad at it, either. I have a soft spot for that genre of generic early-70s cock-rock knockoff bands, though, no matter how unimaginative they may be. That's my musical blind spot. I love Cactus, for fuck's sake! |

I saw Rush in concert on their 30th Anniversary tour a couple summers ago. (my first time, and not my choice, my friend is big fan), and I had a heck of a good time. They are a great band, and we should be thankful they are still out there doing their thing. I have all their LPs up to Roll The Bones (Rhino records, $1.99 a shot). I can't say I listen to them much, but I appreciate them for what they are, and if any Rush album had a shot at getting on a poll, I think Moving Pictures is the one. I tried to petition for Hemispheres but couldn't find anyone to get my back.
Let's all get together and wave the flag of Rush, our Canadian cousins of the North, and help them get on the 1982 ballot! La Villa Strangiato! |

They so ARE NOT the worst band of all time. Good lord, worse than some of the shit whatsisname used to plump, like Hootie and the Blowfish or Nickelback? Worse than the Eagles once whatsisname started in on guitar? Worse than the latter Silver Bullet Band records? I do NOT think so. "Tom Sawyer" *alone* makes them better than those bands, even if those were the only notes they ever played.

My other fave Homer moment was when he told me I was the next Ritchie Blackmore. Still haven't figgered if it was an insult. |
