trac dave here it is guys!
there will be more information coming soon, but here is some preliminary info:

Round 5 will be our first SATURDAY race.

Charlie's Place (wagon wheel)

All competitors will compete in one race starting at
10:00am

Course will be 20 miles (plus)

4 Laps for the leader (most racers will get 3-4 laps in
so get in shape! everyone will get 2)

live engine start by class

Kids race around 2:00pm

more info to come, but i wanted to get this information to you as soon as possible. we will also be implementing a "pie-plate" system for racers who do not get their numbers prior to the event. in the desert, we will not be assigning numbers to new racers, so let everyone know that they need to take care business BEFORE the event if they have not raced with us this year.

Patrick304x Hey Dave you should use the pit road where you had sign ups last year for the start area and pit road, 100's did that this year and it worked great!

SMOTP What about the kids race?

no, there will be no numbers or colored bars out in the dez....if we transfer you we will mail you your new bar.

dvmcleon dave, ive been racing all season but took off my numbers to replace them with district ones, can i get new ones in the desert or do they have to be mailed to me?

atrain Sounds cool I would like Saturday races, we don't have to rush to get back home as much. Should be cool to see how the lines get combined.
August 10th, 2010 12:08 AM
gjslick Way cool,I like it!...So does this mean there will be A killer Bar-B-Que saturday night haha.
Very inovative Dave...Way to mix it up,which is why I enjoy USDR!

Greg...Slick

Curly B bout time ive been itchin fer the last two months but i still go ridin in the heat it dont bother me!
August 10th, 2010 08:08 AM
Jays2nd So I take it ithis is the answer to the Pre Ride issues? Sounds like a challenge and I love a challenge. Beginner Quad still gonna be the last line?
I do wish you would put us in front of the Mini's as the fast mini's have no problem passing a quad but a fast quad is always dangerous to a mini...Thoughts?

yzguy This sounds great to me.

ajetmech Hows the pits going to work? Real-estate is hard enough as it was in the pits. Is it going to be longer or wider to allow pitting on either side of the row. Or are the normal pit rules going to be enforced like no camping, parking or pop up within 10-20 feet of tape inorder to ensure everyone has equal access. With 200 plus racers out there about 80% are going to want to pit

Coaching my kids soccer team. Every Saturday from September to November. Only Sunday races for me.

ajetmech Racing is fun but time with kids can not be replaced. That is my only regret of spending 22 years in the Navy was missing them grow up.

flyinryan Well Charlies place gets me again!!! I'm beat before I show up. Last year missed prerun on Saturday, this year I'll miss the race BECUASE IT'S ON SATURDAY!!!!! I like all the new ideas Dave and losing the prerun doesn't bother me,BUT.....this race being moved to Saturday counts me out. Any other race I could make it but I work in the Ag industry and Sept. is all hands on deck. Sunday was gonna be tight but Saturday is 99% out of the question. Why did you move it to Saturday? Sounds like a real full day Saturday and nothing on Sunday. Cramming all the fun into one day makes a weekend into a hard day. Now if any Dads have problems during the race they screw up there kids race too! I know it's your series but we are the customers here,I would have thought you would have asked what we thought before making such big changes. Sorry.....maybe I'm just upset I'm gonna miss the fun. I do know that if I were real concern with points I'd be real MAD. If I started the season expecting all Sunday races and now am forced to miss a race and maybe lose a championship do to points I couldn't get because of a last minute "change" it would fall into the category of a series I might not run the following year. I'm not in that position, but, I must say I am sad that it probably will hurt my points as last year my last two races are where I got my points. All the ringers from d37 who come and run as beginners are now in the class they belong so I have a chance. I think I'm done venting now. See you in Nov.

rh1of57  Dave what is the real reason for changing it to Saturday, I agree with Flyinryan itís your series but why? I have a group of about 5 of use from Bakersfield and two of them are in AG to, one can make it for sure (504s) and the other one may not be able to make (509s) and one races a car at the Bakersfield Speedway on that Saturday night that will not be able to make it (139). I have also been working on Brent Needham from Valley Cycle to come out with him and his son, there is no way they can do this because Brent has to work. And Jeff (140) I canít say at this time at all. Plus my daughter has soccer also and I was waiting to see what her schedule was to know if I was coming out for the practice. Now Brooke has already put of her birthday on that weekend because she wants me to race but this may change everything. And Dave most of use just make plans from your schedule that was posted on the web site.

Chigger Can you let us know when we can pre-reg? Thanks!
August 11th, 2010 11:15 PM
KUDLA 21 Dave has been talking about doing the race on saturday for a LOOOOOOOONG time... and is willing to try something new to see how it works. everything is different on paper and here on the board until it actually happens so it'll be really interesting to see. I liked having our race start at 11 but 10 is fine to. Hopefully we can get an 8am pre-run in there. its the 1 thing that has really set USDR apart from everyone else and I would hate to lose the saftey of having a general idea of where we're headed.

the only bummer is I wont be able to film this one!!! if there is anyone out there that can lend a hand with 1 or 2 or my cameras that would be greatly appreciated! Planning on putting out a DVD at the end of the season of every race this year, plus lots of etxra bonus footage from other races, unused shots and extended helmet cam footage...
August 11th, 2010 11:57 PM
rh1of57 :( I will not know if I can be there at all until the soccer schedule comes out for Brooke, but my group of guys have all, already told me there not going, because of work and the race car.
August 11th, 2010 11:58 PM
Derryberry7 Not so into this "new" idea. i have about as much talent to be on the same trail at the same time as the Experts and Pro's in a race situation as a man in the moon. Its going to take a lot of thought before I do this... As for the added miles and laps I am all for that. Thanks Dave I appreciate all that you do for us and I will continue to support the USDR. I don't think this round in this format is the best idea for my return from March's wipeout...
August 12th, 2010 01:03 AM
Patrick304x Beginners in the district race on the same trail as Kendall Norman, I think you can handle a few pros and experts and intermediates lapping you..

I'm all there Dave! Sounds like fun to me and I'm
Goin for the win. See you all there!

getting lapped by the pros and experts isn't a problem, they are so fast that when they pass someone it won't disrupt the slower persons race at all...and they are gone so quickly that it is really not a big deal. this is going to be our best course ever.....the longer lap lets us put in alot better terrain, AND the course won't be torn up so the experts are going to have a great first and second lap.

CKajiwara I'm liking the saturday race and the 20mile course. Sorry for the guys that can't make it.

Dave, how do you plan on lining up the start? If you keep the lines the same, that would make about 15 lines, so by the time the last line leaves, Burson is going to be finishing his first lap.

so far i have it at 13....which is 3 more than race 1 is now. we'll still get the rows off in less than 15 minutes. and there might be a few less people because of saturday.
