Now, on with the F.A.Q.

I can't do anything! How do I register?!

You can't post unless you are registered with the forum. The only place you can post unregistered is in the help forum, and that's only for asking questions about registration. If you are not registered, you should do so asap.

To do so, head to the top of your screen and click the "Register" link. Or you can just click here. You will then be taken to a page that will ask you for your username, e-mail, and other stuff.

Please try and use your KoL username - it helps to minimalize confusion. And make sure you use your real e-mail, as a verification e-mail will be sent to the address you provide.

Once you are registered, you have full access to the fourms. Innactive accounts get deleted after 60 days.

What is radio GKOL?

Quoth the Wiki:

Radio GKOL, more commonly known as GKOL, is a Shoutcast station that was created by /games regulars, and uses many of those regulars as DJs to host shows. These shows often include games, contests, and prizes. Their motto is: "We exist to give you sh1t."

GKOL was mainly created for the entertainment of the chat channel /games. To differ from Radio KoL, GKOL holds frequent contests and giveaways.

DJs include: Cyris Flare, Demyx the Dancer, Frankenchrist, GuardianOfFreyja, JanvierBellefeuille, jimmyBUFFET, Merric, MiniGates, Nevena, OracleofDreams, Pieguy259, RuncibleSpoon, ShadowFox, Shinitenshi, StLGirl, Suryc, Tacologic, Tatsuya, Ultiform, and WeyrwomanAnna.

If chatbot says GKOL is down, then they are not broadcasting.

The station can be listened to with any music player, the most common being Winamp or iTunes. If you want to listen, a DJ will typically have links to the 24k and 64k streams in their profile. If the current DJ does not have links in their profile, you can tune in via their website below.

You can also check out
their website for links to listen (you need Winamp or iTunes), information on all the DJs and their shows, a schedule, and other useful information!

Right now, you are at their official forums.

Enjoy the music, and if you have any questions, ask your current DJ.

How do I check up on GKOL?

This is a very important question. Make sure you read this.

Chatbot becomes very useful here. Here are the commands that you can use to check up on GKOL.

Commands:

/msg chatbot radio gkol: Will send a KMail with links to listen, homepage, station status, and other useful stuff. Try it, it's fun!
/msg chatbot dj gkol: Will give you PM with the current song, DJ, and listener count.
/msg chatbot rhistory gkol: Last 6 songs
/msg chatbot rsubscribe gkol: This function will have chatbot send you a PM every time the song changes (just like chatbot does publically in /c radio) with listener count and current DJ. This will expire after 4 hours or logout. To end, type /msg chatbot usubscribe gkol.
/msg chatbot djsubscribe gkol: Announce dj changes via PM

Send a PM or KMail to Suryc or one of the GKOL staff and we will be happy to answer. Please make sure that the questions are to do with the radio station. If you have any forum-oriented questions, read on, check our guides, or post in the help forum.

Can I add HTML to my messages?

No.

What are Private Messages(PM)?

Private messages can be used to send messages to other registered members of the board. To check your messages, log in to Private Messages through the link on the main page. Once there you can also send messages. It's also possible to send a message by clicking on the PM link which comes with each post. Your messages will be stored for 30 days.

Who runs this forum?

Here is how it works:

Each DJ is a Moderator. However, they are only moderators for their own show area.

The GKOL Staff, also known as "The Council" are Super Moderators. They can moderate everywhere.

Suryc is the Administrator. He runs the codes and scripts that keep this forum going. If you see something you would like changed, or have a suggestion to make this forum more user-friendly, he would be more than happy to hear from you.

You can check the "rank" of a user by looking right under their username on any of their posts.

How can I change my profile?

Use the My Account link found on top of the board pages.

Can I edit or delete my own posts?

Yes you can. Moderators can do so as well. Use the buttons that appear on your posts.

How do I post a reply?

To reply, or add a post in a current thread, you have two options. You can use the quick reply box, or you can click the "Post Reply" button.

The quick reply is quick and easy, but you won't have access to more advanced things like quoting, NovoCode formatting, linking, etc. You can only put in text. If you want to do any of that fancy stuff, you need to click the "Post Reply" button at the top or bottom of the thread. Once you make your post, your post will be added to the bottom of the thread for everyone to read and respond to. Remember to use the edit, delete, and quote buttons to make everything easier for yourself.

Is it possible to search the boards?

Yes. Use the link at the top of your screen.

What are archives?

The archives contain older messages. After a forum reaches 150 topics, the last 50 are moved to an archive.

Do you guys really get asked these questions all the time, or are you just making them up?

That's the stupidest question I've ever asked!

I've read and searched everywhere, but I STILL can't find an answer! What do I do?

Post in the Help forum. How do you get there? From the main page, or, you guessed it...
