Long John Baldry; is that who you mean Harry?

He had a N01 hit in the UK in the mid-sixties with "Let The Heartaches Begin" which was one of those big ballad songs that identified that era.

I was only about 10 years old at the time but remember him having a really bad image and being banned from appearing on live TV.
What did he do?
This will make you smile (I think).
He spilt his tight trousers live on stage during a TV program and showed his backside/ pants to the viewers
That was the limit of my knowledge about him until I just checked him out and you are right Rod was involved.

Ooops, I've made a mistake here - it was P.J. Proby who split his trousers not Long John Baldry!!

Back to Rod's new CD, over here in the UK "The Same Old Song" seems to be getting a lot of airplay on bbc radio2 at the moment.

The album's up now on We7 so I've just had a good listen and there are one or two tracks that I really like!

I'm a bit of a romantic at heart, and " My Cherie Amour" has a real french ambience; so that one's my favourite, très bien!

Like Paul says it's sure to get plenty of TV exposure in the run up to Christmas.

Mark, The song Debris is almost Dylanesque in its tone and Im sure would suit Jo's voice....songs like this deserve to be heard and not relagated to the "Bargin Bucket" of musical history.....Go on give Jo the Heads Up on this....Its a definate maybe!!!!!

Paul, I'm pretty sure this was the b-side to the faces top ten UK smash "Stay With Me" in 1972, I did know the tune!
I used to be quite a rocker in those days (before I found the soul grooove)

the guy I saw last night Steve Ellis (his biggest hit was knows Jagger, Moon, Beatles, Chris Farlow etc etc

I take it then Mark Steve performed all the hits he had with Love Affair last night.
I listened in to a radio interview with him a couple of years ago and he was asked if he still performed these songs in concert and his reply to the question seemed to imply that he didn't really like performing them and there was a time when he wouldn't.
But he realised that these are the songs that the fans come to see him perform, They also get the big reaction, so the anawer was yes.

Harry, you more than likely don't know anything about Steve Ellis or his group The Love Affair because at the time they had big hits in the UK with cover versions of all of Robert Knights big hits in the USA.
