OTC
-----

* I thought SPW was producing a new show open. Well, WHERE IS IT THEN?

* Nice to see Eddie C return to SPW and finally give up on living his life as the champ of a dead promotion.

* Miss Jasmine -- New addition to the women's division. Very nice. We'll see what she's made of inside the ring.

* Poet Wright definitely filling the psycho female void left by Iris Galiver.

* Bryan Vincent RULES! Best promo against Deathknell ever!

* Deathknell's promo was pretty decent...once I copied it into Word and changed it to regular case.

* Good promo by Van Wild to continue the on-going storyline. I for one am a HUGE W&S mark so to see them potentially getting the band back together is great. Although I keep getting this sneaking suspicion that there is more to all this than what is on the surface.

* Victor Frost speaking the truth about Van Wild -- touche! Almost a semi-shoot if you will.

* NOOOOOO!!!!!! Not Sammy Knight AND Spooky Doom! The Biz rolls in his grave! How could you Sammy?!? At least Spooky didn't corrupt Knight's enigmatic style of cutting a promo. What he DID do is take away from what was an already decent segment. In a situation like this, it may have been better to just have all 3 men talking together in front of the camera instead of Doom and Knight doing their own things and calling it a joint promo.

* Owen Cage had an OK promo - kind of lost me at times with all the metaphors and allegories. Was never much of an English major in school, ya know.

* Nice segment with Andrew Davis -- but did I miss something? Is Andrew Davis self inserting himself into the World title match at Ringu Faia? MAN... he really IS a dick.

So last time I did this it took way too much time. Just bullet points here: I'll do match predictions too, seeing as how I can see the talent at the same time.

* I expect the new opening to open the show proper. At least I hope so. Also expecting new rankings anytime soon with greater Spooky Doom-ination!

* Browsing through I mark 4 notable absences: Hype, Jasy, Shane and Rey. Yes, even squash matches should be RPd for. And yes. HJV as well. I'm gonna agree with Shaun and predict a card change for the Ringu Faira ME.

* Eddie Christian vs Miss Jasmine, on first impressions... One character gets heel heat by denying a fan his autograph, the other talks while a song plays in the background... Sigh: it might've worked in a TV medium, but ewrestling is basically competitive writing as a hobby. Since you only get ONE first impression, make it count.

* Shoot promos are rather easy to write and done right, can actually be funny; but they have no place in a wrestling environment. Honestly; its not something you see from anything other then the most unprofessional worker in RL and from an e-w standpoint, encourage bland, characterless wrestlers so as to be far less vulnerable to such attacks. My heart wants DK to win, but my head knows that BV must win or else he's nothing other then ME fodder at this point. BV FTW.

* Wow...VW just blowing off his promo vs VVF to concentrate on his tag team situation. That all better be worth it, especially with the lack of TT competition at this point. They'll fight who, Cage and Diamond? There's not much regular handlers at this point: when you have one, don't blow him off. Frost wins... And expect a 3-way for the title!

* I'll agree that I failed to gel the joint promo together: I'm too used at not touching other people's stuff that I didn't insert my character in Sammy's half or insert Sammy in my half. Wouldn't have taken much for me to have a much better flow. Next time will be much better. Heel team wins due to taking out Volga in some fashion, re-arranging the RF ME.

* If there's one thing that I'm proud of, its the succesful mini-feud brewing in the ME. You can have your Sammy-Volga tension, Davis can shoehorn himself in the RF ME while Cage and I have developped a neat lil' mini feud between tournament matches. A six-man ME is a success when everyone has his story.

* For all other predictions... Hype wins, Rey wins and Poet wins.

There was no Eddie Christian vs Miss Jasmine match. The Eddie Christian promo was more like a commercial promoting his return.

Eddie vs Jasmine in terms of two characters doing first impressions.

* So we got a new-ish opening montage... But no use of the new opening montage spots. It's rather focus on the ME and a bunch of scenery, not all for it myself.

* Futuro match... See, the thing about a babyface jobber match is that you don't get your hope spots in. Threaten the heel upset, have the fans react, feed Futuro to get up and then have the feat of strength/big move in.

* So Fighter's U... They don't do anything more? They're like the hook from the back to reel in the bad skits?

*Wild: I probably would've made that your OTC... All this focus on the tag titles nearly makes a Wild-Star pairing a shoe in for victory, but I'm hoping from opposition not just from Deathknell but also from Owen & Diamond, the other "big" heel team. Because otherwise it's practically a non-competition.

Conquest Hr 1 Thoughts
---------------------------

* Woah! Volga laid out by an unknown assailant right off the bat. Nice way to set up the evening of questioning whether he will be able to compete at the end of the night.

* So that's the new show open for Conquest? Interesting...

* Where exactly is Rey Futuro fighting when he's not on Conquest? Are we to assume it's SPW house shows or is he violating his exclusive contract by fighting for other promotions? I mean who the hell are "Aalok Darsha, Kush Jain, and Niran Saphawasu"

* So Tiffany Lane as special guest commentator... I still smell a donnybrook to ensue.

* YES~! FIGHTER'S U RETURNS TO SPW! WOO!

* And The Hype get the forfeit win. What a cheat for the fans.

* Good promo from Van Wild to hype himself going into his match against Victor Frost and separate himself from the earlier segment regarding the Scott Starring affair.

* And an impressive match between VW and VF. Kudos to the winner for claiming their rightful three points. And how about that post match with Deathknell and Van Wild? I for one can not wait for things to officially go down between those two.

* Ugh... it pains me to watch Sammy Knight and Spooky Doom interacting.

Futuro wrestled them at SPW House Shows in Asia. I personally don't mind Knight and Spooky interacting, that's what the roster should do.

I'm just wondering if they can get things to gel together rather than it looking like Spooky is doing his own thing and Knight is doing his own thing.

Part 1 of Conquest featured a surprisingly small amount of Andrew Davis. Granted, his old entrance music is now the theme of show, so I guess that counts, but I need more.

For idiots like me, the "Last Time, on Conquest" feature is greatly needed and appreciated.

I'm going to dress as Pitchfork Krueger for Halloween. I'd like to see Krueger team with Geoff Rankin and accidentally win the Tag Team Titles.

Tiffany trying to sway Kieran? What kind of heel would do something like that?

Hey, Fighters' U. Don't know what/who/how/when that means. This show has to be moron-proof for me to enjoy it!

Victor Frost over Van Wild. Very nice. Could Frost and Davis end up tied for the Fusion Title sweepstakes?

Knight and Doom. Something something something, bitches gonna lose. Not that I'm bias.

Wow! SPW does house shows now? AJ really is doing it up this season. Where can I find results from these house shows?

And yes I am all for interaction in segments between roster members but those two together hurt because Spooky Doom and Knight clash so much. It's like when someone thought The Rock and Sock Connection was a good idea in that real fed (that we shouldn't refer to by name for fear of them finding out about SPW and taking it's ideas to use on TV.)

1. In short, F.U. were a tag team that for awhile was a part of the tag title race back when tag titles meant something or at least SEMI meant something in SPW. They were even part of a stable with C-Kid (aka Owen Cage) and Colt Montana along w/ Serena Black. But then they disappeared to go wrestle for IGA, which closed down and thus they are now back in SPW.

2. Frost and Davis are in separate groups so they can certainly tie for the same points and thus fight it out at the PPV for the Fusion title. Not an unlikely concept.

For once, I've got a REALLY good excuse for going AWOL. I just got home after two weeks in the hospital. I'll try to get back on my regimen of writing shortly, get these characters fleshed out a bit more.

Nota Bene: After waking from gall bladder surgery and looking down at my abdomen, seeing the laproscopy incisions didn't weird me out. But seeing my belly, usually covered in a lush forest of man-fur, with a liberal portion shaven while I was under the anasthetic... THAT kind of made me twitch.

Please to tell us more about your excessive amount of bodyhair. No really.

Owen and Shane: pretty good joint oncard, a bit cheezy (oh me!); I pretty much wanted to see more from Shane, standing next to Owen who worked his near-whole career to main event while he does it on his second card, showing off his value to the company. Oh well.

DK vs BV was nothing special, and I was expecting more from BV to justify what would be a better presence/ranking in the future. I don't think DK will last long (the novelty of an invincible monster fades off quick) but they are protecting him while he's here.

James O'Connor needed a better explanation as to why we should care about who he is. He just walks into the place and everybody's scared of him. And you don't want to have too much rotating GMs or else fans will be confused. There's Spikes, Kieran, now James walks in and there's no way to know who he is except that he worked for the competition. Just simplify.

So the ladies have a hardcore match and bleed all over the place? I can understand that, but not the ending: Tiff saves O'Neil from certain doom, Poet... chops? Poet just stands over them instead of shoving Jasy through the glass coffin as planned? Feels like something missing. Who's triumphant?

Yeah, sure we're scared of you, JV... And DAMN was I waiting for him for that joint promo...

ME: Liking that the Wheel of Doom is used as some manner of high profile attack, at least Spooks get some signature spots in throughout the Knight and Volga show. And cool way to save the challenger by saying that his "success" in the rankings went to his head, accounting for his losses. If nothing else, nice save.

Conquest Hr 2 Thoughts
--------------------------

* Bryan Vincent sounded funny in the opening segment for Hr 2 when he spoke w/ Sammy Knight. Am I missing something about Vincent's possible split personality? But hey, if it births a possible tag team title contending team, who am I to complain.

* Nice segment with Team EGO and Andrew Davis. Reminds me of Austin Aries and his two jabron' underlings in RoH right now.

* I hafta say that no matter how many times I "see" it, Deathknell's entrance always peaks my interest. Just the visual of a massive guy being lowered to the ring on chains hooked to his flesh -- INSANE!

* Vincent and Deathknell was a good match with a good finish that pushed both men properly.

* Wow, "Cunning" James O'Connor NOW in SPW... TSWF's demise certainly turned to be SPW's gain. But I do have to say the idea of a guy on his first night getting a main event shot is very reminiscent of how Volga got his start in SPW -- so I guess it's ok if JO'C replaces him.

* Good hardcore style match between Jasy and Poet. Nice win for Wright who SHOULD be the one facing Tiffany Lane at A&A now. And an interesting set of post match events to further show how nuts Poet Wright really is.

* Great segment with Volga showing how dedicated he is to being in the main event -- even if it kills him. And did ANYONE notice he said the attacker had on a RED hoodie? Hmm....

* Wow - Sammy Knight getting the jump on Andrew Davis right from the start. Very different style than what we're used to from the champ. And who would've thought that Spooky Doom would be the one saving Sammy Knight's hide. I'll give credit to Team EGO for the nice double team move they pulled off (Snake Eyes into the assisted double stomp).
In the end, the match had a good finish and it definitely propelled the story going into Ringu Faia.

As the fedhead of the now defunct TSWF, allow me to explain that James O'Connor is not looking to be the next GM. Rather he is an in-ring competitor who saw Clyde Kennedy make the move from Tri-State to Shootfire Pro and decided to do the same to make sure Kennedy doesn't cause another company to go under. *sorry Ethan*

Thanks for the explanation, Shaun.

Doom's right that the explanation could have been clearer. If someone who's never heard of James before (90% of the people here?) thought he was going for GM, that's on me. Something to work on.

I'll try to use OTC to smooth things over, both on who he is and the somewhat new direction he's going in.

RANDOM THOUGHTS ON OTC + CONQUEST:

-Overall I thought it was an incredibly entertaining and quality show in terms of both work and progressing stories

-In terms of the Spooky Doom/Knight pairing, it was definitely interesting to say the least. Spook's handler is a very headstrong individual who is very deliberate with his character. Some might say the same about me. Did the promo come out as well as we intended? Probably not. It was a challenge to try and build cohesiveness. While there was some compromise, there wasn't enough on our parts to get the intended results. Lesson learned.

-I'm excited for Eddie Christian's return to SPW. There's a different mindset this time and I promise that the results are going to be different. If people choose to sleep on Christian then you're going to miss out on something. Trust me.

-I continue to enjoy the character of Bryan Vincent. His flashes show depth and uncertainty that can lead the character down many roads. I respect and value that kind of character. I'm truly expecting some great things out of him as well.

-The Knight/Volga feud is interesting. I think both men are being forced to "grow" this feud and so far it has shown. Not sure what to think about Volga's attack and the idea of the "red hoods." We all know that Sammy threw away his flags, but could someone be trying to frame him? I'm curious about that storyline to say the least. Volga's on-card was a great reaction. Tough as nails. Period.

-The events surrounding the Main Event were also well done (as were the segments of Davis/Ego, Knight/Doom, Volga, etc.). I thought that the Main Event was paced well and allowed each person to showcase where they "are" at this stage of the season. It was good to see some mixed pairings (in terms of teams) and further cemented Clyde Kennedy as a force to be reckoned with in SPW.

-Vincent/DeathKnell match was a great match to read. It showed DK's sheer beast-like ability and Vincent's "loose-cannon" tendencies. Hopefully Knight's influence can prove to be beneficial and benevolent for him!

-Frost plays the smug role so well. I have enjoyed his video journals and look forward to reading more of them. Tommy really does a great job with Frost -- very creative.

I was a huge fan of the Knight/Vincent segment, but I think the Team EGO/Davis segment was my favorite.

I could see the Jakob Volga segment in my head as I read it. It was really good.

Note to self: have Davis spit on the grave of Biz, have Kennedy spit on the grave of TSWF. Happy now Shaun? See what you made me do?

Also, I felt that the amount of Davis in the second half of Conquest almost made up for his absence in part 1. Almost.
