I'll kick things off...

* Nice opening promo between AD4 and Pain to set things up for the main event. Pain's line about "you tap or you break" reminds me of The Biz's old tagline "Tap, Nap, or Snap - the choice is yours"

* I was confused at first when Doom wasnt at ringside for Owens' match but I got the gist later when he interfered against Marcus Davis in the tag title match.

* Nice spot by Kiera Vaughn to take down Shawn Ryder.

* Question: why would Serena petition a heel like Johnny Pain to save her from another heel (CK Walker)?

* I'm overtly curious to find out what a Strike Me Down match is -- all the more reason to buy the PPV, I guess.

* Wouldve been nice to see Toughill show up during the Womens match to help push the match between Wright and Erica @ the PPV.

* DK returns to beat down the Black Shark - nice! Question tho: Will we see him in the Warriors Cry match? And also how does Monet not know shes booked at the ppv?

* And good setup for the PPV by having JOC save Davis who is now a potentially hurt champ going into the PPV.

All in all I thought this was a decent "go home" event - hopefully more of the PPV lineup will be announced on Ascension.

The opening between AD4 and Pain was well done to get over Davis. I think Pain needs more of an inring presentation to really get his character across.

The Soul Death Society can be something better than the Straight Edge Society it hopefully mocks.

Poet - Nina was a good match. I assume Erica goes over Nina.

DEATHKNELL beats down Marissa. That was unexpected. And now to deal with it.

Great main event. Johnny Pain comes off well as a crippler character who is playing the spoiler. He just likes to hurt. How does AD4 respond to JOC saving him. Will he return the favour in Korea?

It's no secret that I consider fans cheering a women being beat up to be the most reprehensible aspect of intergender wrestling. I mean, Marissa is going " I ain't booked", whining for a heel reaction and then comes SPW's largest orphan character to spark some action and we're supposed to approve of this violence? I understand why it was done, need to sell the threat before destroying it, but making a women heel and having her get destroyed for the enjoyment of the viewing audience is really the height of mysoginy in wrestling. I really, really wish that didn't happen.

In fact, that scene is probably the one that'll turn me to Chris Hopper-levels of opposing intergender matches...

Best part of the show was basically setting up the "submissions only" aspect of the main event, with Pain pointing out how he should have the advantage. No one really expected Pain to win, but this is how you press Pain as the strongest threat in such a situation.

I see Davis getting hurt as just motive for him dropping the belt at Ringu Faia, maybe serve as a building point for the rematch. Speaking of which, don't the other qualifiers get to fight for the title? What happened to Buddy Drifter's win over Doom; doesn't he get a title shot? I thought the main event would be more of a four way.

Valid point. Especially since JOC pretty much forced his way into the title match, if I recall. I'm sure Drifter will call upon for his shot when the time is right -- maybe ala Money in the Bank cashing in moments following a grueling title defense.

Earning title shots around here is a slippery thing.

I think we're missing a show in between this and Ringu Faia so Drifter will probably get first shot after Ringu Faia.

BTW, does anyone else think it's kind of screwed up that AJ expects RPs and strats for the PPV in the span of 3 days when he can't even get shows out on time?

What? Ascension isn't even out, Doom ain't booked yet (I was hesitating between Warrior's Cry and Fusion title match, but the way things are going I'll probably take Fusion match) and otherwise haven't heard anything about writing masterpieces in three days.

I don't think you should take the given date on the Ringu Faia card seriously.

LOL, it is a pretty tight schedule. I like to filter out cards and take my time going over things and what i'm going to say. I would be lying if i said i didn't feel a little rushed, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Just for banter- I did not understand DK crushing Marissa now that i know the handler of her didn't even know that was going to happen. I thought she was getting a very strong build for a potential title shot with no question that she could beat Davis. I think the beating [no, getting DESTROYED] by DK really set the character back. If i was a fan i would have been totally tihnking 'You know what Marissa is on fire, looking dangerous she might just be the next World champion...'

But after seeing the thrashing she got i think it took something away from her that she was building up. I don't know how to explain it but if i was viewing the show that aura that she had before the attack would be gone and she wouldo nce again have to build up the fans belief that she could potentially beat Davis for the title.

Now this isn't a smack to anybody and i'm not trying to cause shit. But if i was watching the show that is what I WOULD think/feel about wehat happened.

The card was very well written though and everything flowed. Alot of interesting characters to follow for sure!

I think it's just the matches that have been set so he can get the jump on them so we get a reasonable schedule.

The SPW timeliness has been surprisingly good, especially concerning the quality of the matches. We're not like the UWF here.

Ah gotcha. So if you are booked already (ie. match announced on Conquest, I assume), he wants your stuff by Friday. Those booked AFTERWARDS (ie. announced on Ascension) will send their stuff in sometime thereafter.

All in all, you're right Dare ... the timeliness has been good to some extent. Hopefully the PPV doesnt take a month to release thus setting everything in the future back.

Let me say this: whoever wrote the main event did a great fucking job. Want to know how to write Andrew as a face? Read that match.
