Posted April 24th, 2009 02:20 IP Thank you Sylvia.
The pencil sketches were done from scratch. I am still not very accurate in my drawing. Need more practise.
The landscape painting painted trom scratch using various oil brushes in painter.
The 2 lady paintings were from photo. I repainted the backgnd and everything from neck down. My skill is still not good enough to painting faces
I will be going to Solo Island Indonesia on 7May for a short holiday. Were you there during yr trip?

I can't believe you think your "skill is still not good enough:! It's perfect!!!
I haven't been to Solo (yet ! ). On this trip, except for Malaysia and Thailand, we went to Jokjakarta (Java), Bali, Lombok and GIli Trawangan. We really enjoyed Jokja, especially the bird market and the streets around on the Sultan's compound. It was like traveling back in time!!! Have you been there?
We intend to go back to Indonesia toward the end of the year, to explore some more. I think Indonesia is one of the most interesting country I've ever been to, and these Muslim people were incredibly nice.

Posted May 15th, 2009 01:12 IP I just checked your pictures from Indonesia, I see we went to some identical places (Borobudur, Jokja, etc).
Did you go to the Bird Market, in Jokja? I found that place fascinating. A guy took us to the underground mosque (I saw you went there too) through all the little alleys, and it was like traveling back in time!!!

Posted May 15th, 2009 14:20 IP Hi Sylvia,
The bird market was very interesting. They sell all sort of bird and bird food. Eye opening for me too. The underground mosque also was a surprise to me.
It is very interesting and memorable trip :")

Posted May 25th, 2009 19:24 IP Excellent, Wei !
The only thing that "bothers" me a bit on the man you posted earlier is the two different styles in one picture. His face is very grainy and the rest very smooth...
You sure have mastered your technique!!!

Posted May 26th, 2009 14:53 IP Hi Sylvia,
In corel painter, some brushes - charcoal, chalk and pencil - can add paper texture directly to the drawing. I was using a smoother paper for the suit and the rougher paper for the face. I was trying different stuffs.....exsperimenting...
