Very nice smudge Ray, I worked a little on the color and levels for your smudge, did you try a color adjustments? to make the color pop a little, I can post a pic of your lion to show you what I mean if you want. Very nice work he looks like a King.

Hi Joe,

I usually try to make my images pop a little but for this did not - now i wish I had!!!

That is how I prefer them and you have done a super job....

Would appreciate details of your workflow if you wouldn't mind please as I really like this!

Ronnie....I wondered if it would work because getting around the lion may be tricky?

Do you think it would work if the b/g around the lion was left and the change was a little further out perhaps?

best wishes

Ray

Good stuff again Ray, my own preference would be somewhere in the middle between your smudge and Joes popped version.

PS hurry up and fill up this thread because if its half as good as your last it will make excellent viewing.

Not the same formula for the picture I posted above but almost the same, this is what I did for this pic.....

1. dup background/ selected black fur with lasso curved to blacken(had a blue tint)
2.hue/sat master color +23
3. hue/sat layer red -10 for red wood forground only
4.hue/sat yellows -20 and greens -23
5.levels 0-0.85-188
6.selective color reds= black +2, yellow+1
yellows = cyan -5
greens = black +11
neutrals = black +1
black = black +3

Good work again Ray. I like Freds images on DPR mostly because he does not use flash in many of his shots and is great at using window light etc. Proof if its needed that great lighting can be simple and never any danger of ruining the feel with too much flash.

Hi Joe

The oopacity was 40-50% but the size of the brush was often as low as 5....

Because the image was large it was easier...but it took a long time and patience to do....it actually became frustrating.....

Best wishes

Should you not be at council today Ray, across Northern Ireland they elect all the new Mayors today. I am just back from our local town hall where they elected the new mayor for North Down.

Hi Neal,

No, we had our elections in May and Chairpersons and Mayor elected Mid May.

I declined the Mayorality again because I just do not have the time; too busy at work etc.

However, did end up being nominated as Vhair of our most demanding Committee, the "Executive" which I think will be a very tough job to do....however, can only give it my best shot.

I would really like to make things work for Barrow and the Borough and will do all I can in that position...however, you also take all the flack when things go wrong!!!!

Anyway, getting over my smudge phase and want to get back to SP for some real fun.....just been enjoyoing Fred's images so much....

Very best wishes to you Neal,

Ray

Yes the committees are a nightmare, we had a committee in charge of redeveloping an area in front of the towns main marina, it has dragged on now for 8 years and although the council bought over all the premises they are all lying vacant and in a bad state of disrepair. Developers have come and gone with each one it seems promising theatres etc but at the same time trying to also over develop the seafront with penthouse appartments etc..........its been catch 22 they say they cannot fund the theatre etc without the appartments. As you can guess the councillors take all the flack and i bet when they meet next Tuesday no one will be putting their name forward for that one !!!!!!

On the other hand they just got accepted for the development of a new state of the art leisure complex to include a 50 metre pool to be used as a training camp for the next Olympics............ i bet everyone will want to oversea that one !!!!!

I may find someone chil at the wedding to photograph.
Will add some to Art for Art sake on Sunday. That is if you wish to smudge some more.

Mayor and Mayoress

This is Dave who used to play sax in our band.

We are both on the Council and he became Mayor this year with Pauline, as Mayoress.

I would like to give this to them (the full size hi-res) but before I do, (and if I do depending on feedback) would appreciate any c&c or help please.

Took ages to do because of all the detail but I did my best....lesson learnt.....do not smudge this type of image!

Would be most grateful.

Best wishes to all

Ray

Nice smudge work Ray, have you tried making your own background for this image? to me the background is busy and drawing my attention away from your subjects maybe ithe background still looks to photographic, but still as is I think they would be thrilled with your gift.

Excellent job, Ray!!! But I do agree with Joe, it would look better with a new background. Maybe you could clone the wood panels so that they totally cover the walls? And I would remove whatever is on the left of the Mayoress (papers?).
Is that the usual attire, or was it just a one time thing? He looks like he's dressed for a 16th century movie :cheeky:
Great job, Ray!
