Nice images Pavel, like the Pier shot that Andrew commented on. One small obervation and please dont think i am trying to tell you now to take photographs. Most people take pictures from eye level but if they only took the time to get down low to the ground the photograph suddenly appears alot more interesting. We are all used to taking pics and seeing scenes from eye level so suddenly when you look at an image and its from a different perspective it immediatly grabs the attention quicker. Especially good for sea and landscapes.

Thanks all.

Unfortunately very few pics managed to catch not just how the place looks but rather how it feels.... Well, I'm doing that for fun anyways.

Neal, thanks, I use that trick quite often. In fact, a few photos from that gallery were taken from a fairly low level, including the pier shot.

A word of caution. Then taking "ground level" photos close to water surfaces, pay attention to waves. I got completely soaked

Yvonne,
The rocks are nicknamed "Flower pots". They are on an island, the whole archipelago is called "Flower pots islands".
Very desolated place... of course tourist crowds arriving every half an hour by boatloads diminish the feeling of desolation somewhat.

Ohhh, that' s why you were not participating!
Oh gosh, all that snow!!! That's what we had too when we came back from Bali last month! Disgusting!!! :p
I suppose some people enjoy the cold and the snow, but I'm not one of them, that's for sure!!!
I really like your picture of the horse and the lama together, they're really cute. They raise lamas around here too, and I really like these animals, they're very curious and funny (and no, they never spat on me!).
Thanks for sharing these pictures with us, Pavel.

Yes the Lama pic is cute, we have an open farm close to use and about 3 years ago a lama escaped. Motorists were ringing up the local radio station reporting a strange animal running up the motorway !!!!!

Out of interest Pavel did you use a contrast mask on that pic !!!!!!

Just googled contrast mask The original shot did not have that much contrast to begin with.... Don't remember exact pp
I did some changes in RAW, but I did not change that much now then I look back on modified RAW. I did luminosity sharpening in LAB, most likely enhanced colors in LAB as well.
Now it looks as if I've overdone saturation in orange/yellow.

All kinds, beautiful and ugly...
Many old places were restored in the last few years.
This palace was build for Ekaterine the second in 18th century. Apparently, she didn't like it, the palace was never completed and the it was allowed to decay for 3 centuries, until very recently.

Not too long, ten days or so, having got precious few vacation days. Barely had time to catch with latest growth of various family tree branches. Wish I could go more often.

Thanks Ronnie.
Now, that iron curtain is no longer there, going to Russia is not too difficult, I suppose
