Posted December 25th, 2008 17:25 IP Hi Sylvia, Yes were in France. I was in Bangkok a few weeks ago and got caught up in the PAD demonstrations, headed out to the USA. Felt incredibly jet lagged and thought I was coming down with the flu and when I landed back in France 24 hours later I was having surgery to remove an appendix. What an experience that was, but I feel much better and spirits always high for Christmas

Tough luck, to be in Bangkok at that moment !!! (We got rerouted to Malaysia since all the flights were canceled.)
And on top of it, surgery! Ouch! Were you traveling alone? This would be even worst! Anyway, I hope you're back on your feet now.
Thanks Katie. That spot is also my favorite. It's very small but so cute!
I hope you had a great Christmas too.
All the best to you guys too!!! Oh, and thanks for the beautiful card!

Hi Ray,
Yep, we're having a great time, here! We both love it, and we're also talking about moving here! In the meanwhile, we're learning Thai, what a nightmare, this language! Starting with the alphabet!
No, we haven't gone to the Alcazar. I don't even know where it is. Will have to check it up on the Internet.
The beach is the one on the main strip. I took the picture with the boats very close to the Amari, on the right side of the beach when you face the ocean.
Aren't you guys going to come to Asia this winter?
I wish you all a Happy New Year!!! (We have fireworks every night here since Christmas and until Jan. 1st!).

Thank you, Ronnie. Yeah, it's a great country, and it's really nice to be able to afford pretty much everything you want. Plus, I love the climate, the people, etc.
Happy New Year to you and your big family too!!!
Sylvia
PS: BTW, I've met a few Scots these last days, they sure made us laugh! They were dressed with kilts, bare chest, and chasing one another with paint bombs, right in the most crowded street of town . They were very "colorful" Photoshop / Photoshop Elements / Topaz tutorials

I bet !
Well, if any of you is interested in renting an apartment here, I can give you the name and address of the real estate we dealt with. The girl is great and can rent short-term apartments or houses here in Pattaya.
Pattaya / trying out the Topaz plugin...

Thanks Ray. I'm really new at using Topaz, it seems like it's a great plugin!
Yep, we really enjoy it here, especially the weather ! It's just great !!! There are less tourists now too, so it's a lot more pleasurable. I wonder if we shouldn't learn Russian, instead of Thai, though ! They're EVERYWHERE !!!

Look like you are enjoying very much in Thailand :")
The Chinese new year is coming soon on 26 Jan. If you walk around the chinatown, if there is one, you will see a lot decoration and cerebration.

Posted January 7th, 2009 11:18 IP Yeah, I know, Ronnie, it seems most of Europe is freezing right now, yuck !
I got myself a sunburn on the face today, just standing talking for a short while with some people at the swimming pool ! :cheeky:
Topaz seems like a great plugin, and I think the creator of Lucisart is going to lose lots of money by making its plugin so expensive now!
I don't believe there's a Chinatown here in Pattaya, Wei. It seems there are very few Chinese people around here, but we do see the odd Chinese temples here and there.
It's the Russian's Christmas today, which explains why there were so many cops in town last night.

Posted February 4th, 2009 12:44 IP Hi Sylvia
Some wonderful photos!
Really glad you and Marvin are having a great time. Oh to be somewhere warm, it's freezing here.
One of the things I've always wanted to do is hug a tiger! I'm so jealous but looking at his expression you're lucky you weren't dinner.
By the way, what camera do you use? I'm trying to sweet talk Natasha into letting me get a new camera, so using you photos as a guide to quality of the shots.
take care and have fun
Tony

No kidding !!! You should have seen the other tigers, extremely agitated, pacing up and down, crying.
We found out later on that it was supper time. Good thing they had fed mine just before the picture !
I'm using an Olympus SP-550UZ. I wouldn't recommend it though, as I find it a bit too slow in focusing, + for whatever stupid reason you can't shoot movies longer than 13 seconds. The videos are really good, but why the limit, I don't get it...
I don't know what kind of horses these are. Marvin says it's Thai hornless unicorns  .
Which one's the beast, Dan? Just wondering...
Yes, Donna, we're currently living in Pattaya. We're going to go to Bali for a month early March, and back to Thailand for another month. It's just too complicated and expensive to get visas for more than 3 months in Thailand. They sure don't seem to want people to settle down there...
UK or Vietnam? Not exactly the same... You think it'll be cooler in July or August? I thought it was getting hotter and hotter until around September or October. Right now, it's 33 degrees almost every single day. I love it !!!
