Posted August 20th, 2010 01:07 PM IP I almost put this on the Creative Bible Memory thread but don't want to hijack that thread. Curious for ideas on what works well for memorizing verses with preschoolers. I have a nearly 4 yr old daughter.
Some questions I have:
Is it better to do random short verses such as one for each letter of the alphabet. Or would starting with a whole passage such as Psalm 23 be better?
What sort of techniques do you use? Just have them repeat it after you? My daughter for some reason doesn't really like doing this. Is there any other way? -Valerie

Posted August 20th, 2010 02:25 PM IP Here is a link to a blog that I recently discovered. She has a verse for each letter of the alphabet. You can also order a CD called Songs for Saplings that has a song for each verse. You can also print off all lyrics and guitar chords if you want to.
I started Megan is kindergarten last week and am using this--doing one verse a week.
I taught Megan Psalm 23 by teaching her one verse at a time at bedtime. Monica

Posted August 20th, 2010 10:49 PM IP I think some kids can memorize a lot more than we think they can. We had VBS last week and yesterday my 3 yr old said to me "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14" I didn't teach her class so I didn't even know she had memorized it.
